It's fun being a Guns fan. It's a community like nothing else, it always has been

So all this time you’ve been saying you’re some inside link to the band, you’re now back tracking, and saying you’re just like the rest of us, and don’t know anything…?

Ok… 10

I am, moreover was, a promoter working between Australia and the UK  I know alot of people just from work over the years. I can contact management's of different people, I go between good then distant relationships with various people. People on my old website will know how I work.

It's just becoming harder to get information. This and that is supposed to happen and it doesn't.

I do alot more than here for other people, getting things from bands for people's birthdays, getting them to go.to charity events, I'm just getting to a point with GN'R where I'm struggling to do anything useful.

If that makes any sense.

That actually does make a lot of sense. I can relate to this from another profession's perspective. The most unfulfilling experiences I have professionally is essentially what you just described.

I'm going to ask you a question that may be difficult to answer in a public forum, but I'm going to try anyway. What is the deal with this band? Are they even a band? This version of the band since they reunited has just be a nostalgia tour imho. I guess what I'm getting at is why are they so unmotivated to do things that actual bands seem to do on a consistent basis?

The chemistry that was so special from 86 to 93 is just so different from the feeling I get from them now. They almost seem to just be going through the motions.

Primarily, it is a band, and they probably wouldn't say it's a nostalgia tour, but it is. Of course it is. And it's about money, it makes alot of people money, not just the band, but those around them.

I think for Slash and Duff, it's straightforward, they enjoy touring, and they can release their own music if Guns don't.

For Axl, I guess it's validation in some regard. He's had to spend years carrying everything, justifying everything. On the back of that, he has read these message boards and press stories, probably intensively, over the years. All the opinions and scrutiny. The big shows show that a few hundred people on message boards does not represent the millions who go to the shows. I'm guessing Slash and Duff probably said, let's tour, have fun and let's see what happens, no pressure. Of course, we've not had alot of new music.  And it's frustrating. I've been here and about 20 years, it's a long time for just one album and a few songs.

Like you, I liked afd and the uyi albums. It was a good time for music. I've wanted to hear more music, but what can you do. I think every band has it's own story and we've chosen to follow GNR, and that's it really.

And a friend of mine who went on do to even better things than me and has even better contacts, another source,  he's remarried and settled down and doesn't do music much now either. He's gone on to become a DJ.

So, time has just moved on really

Hi, are there any news regarding song or album releases @ sp1at? The latest Duff interview snippet from Finnland sounds promising on one hand but on the other hand we are talking about GN`R! Thanks for any updates!

There is, yes. When I asked earlier in the year, there wasn't

August and September was the American tour. It is obviously not any longer. It'll come when it comes

Just go with what Duff said. And just go with whatever they say.

If you notice, there have been less interviews, so what I do is counter intuitive. It breeds mistrust, which is not what I set out to do, I was more looking at it as a guiding light of sorts.

Anyway, I'm just staying out of everything now. The band need space and trust, which is fine

I was reading that back in the day GNR partied a couple of times with N.W.A. and there's a rumour they collaborated on a track called 'yellow brick road of Compton'. I wander if there's any truth in that?

Yeah, we looked into it years ago, and I can't remember the detail. There was something recorded but it was regarded as insignificant and playful, rather than serious. Someone had the recordings, not GNR or Axl, someone else. The recordings were ultimately lost

I think, Axl might have mentioned it somewhere in time, but I'm not 100 per cent on that

There’s a guy on MyGnr claiming 6th June (Questions). A new member. I’m taking it with a huge pinch of salt. An album sure would be nice

Well, it would make sense, the poster slogan from 40 years ago, and that date 40 years ago.

Intriguing.

Do we know if this is a GNR song or could it be some solo song that they reworked?

It's good to get new music, but frustrating at the same time that the legacy of CD still continues a quarter of a century later

But maybe that's what the tour slogan was alluding to

Does this weird slogan „what you want and what you get are two completely different things“ have any history? I never heard it before and it wouldn’t seem like a name for a tour they‘d randomly make up.

I think it was on a poster back in the 80s, 40 years ago this year

Lip Service was a fashion label Axl wore, but it looks like it's listed as an Original song title with a work number, but not a release code. I can't find anything on Google
