I still remember that GTA voiceover fondly. He could have carved out a reputation on the side with that.

He could've done so much in the 21st century if he wanted to. A solo career in many areas was there for the taking.

He didn't want to put in the work/effort. Even if he had, he had both Chinese Democracy and TB as huge anchors weighing him down.

#2 Re: Guns N' Roses » Live Era Vinyl Re-Release » 3 days ago

While I hate Live Era...only thing on it I listened to was Dust N Bones....a rerelease was loooooong overdue. Hardcore fans had to pay way too much for it. It should've been rereleased multiple times already on various record store days since the mid-late 2000s.

They just never gave a shit.

Its amazing the NITL reunion itself is nearly 10 years old. hmm

It's lasted longer than the original classic run.

Insane.

Ugh, Axl’s shitty re-recorded vocals ruined what could’ve been a great live compilation from that era.

But here they go, releasing anything more of anything BUT a new album.

Now that we know they had the Ritz (among others) in pristine audio/video, that should've been the live album to represent GNR as the 20th century wrapped up.

Instead it rotted in a vault for 30 years.

When we get down to the brass tacks of the 21st century, it's not even 3.5 albums.

The legacy is....

AFD

Patience

KOHD - live Marquee version that hit radio in 89

YCBM
NR

That's it. I guess we could throw in LALD as a live staple.

Lies has pretty much been lost to history. Nobody cares.

Even thoug the UYI  wait, hype, and release was insane and one of the big pop culture moments of the 90s, no one knows or cares anymore. It's been boiled down to 2 songs.

TSI isn't even considered a joke anymore. It's nothing.

CD basically doesn't even exist.

They could cut 90 minutes from their set list and no one would complain.

Anyone here watching?

Thanks to the parity era of the league, we got another wacky season unfolding...

Out of nowhere, the fucking COLTS are the top team in the league.

We're witnessing the collapse of the Ravens....and the Texans are headed in the same direction.

The Redskins....my preseason pick for the Superbowl....aren't showing the promise of last season.

The Jags and Patriots are trying to be what the Broncos were last year.

The Bills....while having a good record currently, are not looking as sharp as last season.  Their Superbowl window is in the process of closing.

We may be witnessing a rebirth of the Giants. Next year they'll be doing what the Colts are doing now.

Aaron Rodgers looking for redemption in Pittsburgh...and may find it.

A QB controversy may be on tap in Frisco.

The Rams are quietly moving up the totem pole.

The Bears may actually be a playoff team this year. Shocking.

Jets looking like one of the worst teams in history. Just embarrassing. Junior college teams could beat them.

The Chiefs appear to be mimicking the 94 Cowboys...start the season looking like dog shit and then go on a run.

The Chargers.... showing so much potential last season and started the season off with a bang...are in a similar rut as the Redskins.

Some of the uniforms/helmets used this season are amazing....Bills and Dolphins top the list.

They've got to get rid of that stupid kickoff rule.

The refs are shitty. When watching old games, it makes me wish for those refs.

End of an era.

We're going to see a LOT more icons pass in the next 5-10 years. It's frightening.

The 20th century is wrapping up. What will be left in it's place is going to be horrific because the 20th century icons were never replaced.

Thanks all! Kind of reminds me of the rumoured Axl collaboration with another rapper (Shaq?). Clearly there's a gnr / hip hop album in a parallel universe somewhere waiting to come out!

It's in the same parallel universe as the Mariah Carey grunge album.

Had a look on wayback machine and couldn't find it. Did find some other interesting stuff though I'll post a thread about when I get chance

So much GNR info has been lost to history. It's a miracle sic was able to make Chinese Whispers.

#6 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bad Apples was meant to be on Live Era » 12 weeks ago

It was great becasue I got to meet all the guys again. Slash was responsible for most of the work on the album. He and Axl worked the hardest. Stevie, Izzy and the others were all involved in one way or another.

Is this confirmation they were actually working on this together at some point?!? If memory serves me correctly, the previous story has Axl and Slash working separately.

As you know, I believe we got much closer to a reunion several points in the Chinese timeline.

The Live Era timeframe may be the first...or was the first domino to fall anyways on the path to it.

It's unfortunate they had to ruin Live Era. I wish the label had made them go back to the drawing board or simply not released it at the time.

As far as Bad Apples being excluded, there was no way to get a perfect track list to please both hardcores and casuals. We're damn lucky Dust N Bones was included...the best track on there IMO.

#7 Re: Guns N' Roses » 2025 Tour Dates » 12 weeks ago

That's pretty crazy. I bet the first few minutes were uncomfortable to say the least. I wonder if they talked on the phone before meeting face to face?

It's too bad they couldn't have buried the hatchet years ago when a tour would've been amazing.

Lump me in with those who wouldn't mind GNR being a 5 piece band again.

I initially thought hiring Melissa was a smart move but they did nothing with her so she should just exit stage left now.

Aside from not releasing new music, they seem more motivated than previous years, especially Axl. His voice may be gone, but he seems to be in great shape and great spirits up there, and they’ve been mixing up the setlists quite a lot this run.

Isaac has given them a real shot in the arm as well.

You’d think with this positive mindset, that they’d naturally go into releasing a new album. But this band (Axl) never does what we expect of them.

The problem with this is the fact it's not a real band.

It's a horribly mismanaged nostalgia tour that started to drip feed singles the moment ticket sales nosedive.

That's it.

It's why we got nothing in the first few years of the tour. They had no reason to release anything new because the shows were largely selling out.

As far as this "lunacy" of the band goes, it doesn't interest me anymore. Why? Because there's no substance under its paper thin facade.

I even find the Chinese years less interesting now that I realize what a swindle the whole thing really was.

It was an AFD bait and switch. Always dangling a Chinese carrot to hardcores to get them to support the pushing of AFD. The Chinese saga was pretty much a promotional vehicle for AFD and GH.

Look at the Chinese Democracy tours for further details.

On the back of that, he has read these message boards and press stories, probably intensively, over the years. All the opinions and scrutiny. The big shows show that a few hundred people on message boards does not represent the millions who go to the shows.

The GNR camp figured this out right before the reunion got underway. It's why TB abandoned the forums. They abandoned their hardcore base because they knew that the coming flood of casuals would make up for this loss.

In their defense, many acts ignore their hardcore base now. They simply aren't required in today's environment.

I don't remember that version of Bad Apples either. Weird.

I had forgotten about how much Sentimental Movie sucked. Same with Too Much. That's literal bottom of the barrel shit right there.

Why are Move to the City and Jungle on this? Did they briefly consider rerecording these for UYI?!?

That lineup deserved an album/tour...and maybe an EP right after.

The whole saga could've been wrapped up in 2-3 years.

Then the window is wide open for a reunion in 2005 with no baggage in the way.

. I almost want to say Jungle has never sounded better musically.

The title track peaked at this show. It's even better than the Village leaks version.
