Unfortunately we may never get the full story on Oklahoma much less get to hear the damn thing.
There's still an unreleased Beatles song, Hendrix, Floyd, Doors...and these are bands that actually give info and regularly release stuff for fans.
Axl should've been grilled on it during the forum chats in 2008...instead no one said anything after he mentioned the title change to Berlin.
He also should've been grilled on the odd story about the original TIL being destroyed. What else was destroyed?
I've said it many times...those chats were a massive wasted opportunity. He was willing to sit there for hours discussing this shit...and half the questions were nothing more than shit posting.
The song has never been mentioned again by anyone.
Yes the HOB thing was/is a good sign but they had played instrumentals before and after...its inclusion doesn't guarantee vocals. This MIGHT be why Riad was played instead.

Do you think he actually has disdain toward us?
During the Chinese years? Absolutely.
Now? No.
I think he's basically onstage reliving 1991-93 like he's still on top of the world. He can mention something ridiculous like that song and in his mind...for that very moment anyway ...the entire crowd knows of it...is salivating to know more. Of course the reality is that no one gives a shit and never will.
The crowd is there to hear Jungle, SCOM, PC, and NR....and pretend it's 1991-93 again for 3 hours.
The fan base is finally where he always wanted them to be.

Anyone watching the new season of Dark Side of the Ring?
It's been pretty good so far. Big Bossman and The Renegade the best episodes so far.
While I never liked Jeff Jarrett and cared nothing about TNA, I actually enjoyed his episodes. You get the entire history in one show.

Axl said something about ‘cornshucker’ which i think was a direct shot at me - something about a song that he knew nothing about. I had a good laugh.
It's amazing when he makes little comments like this.
The song got an official iTunes release out of the blue in 2007.
He knew nothing about it.
Embarrassing.
There was really no point in mentioning it. You and about two other people in the crowd know the song.

Well can you blame them after hearing the "new" songs ?
Actually....yes.
Releasing it... regardless of its quality...makes everything move quicker.
The label wants a reunion so they can keep selling boat loads of copies of AFD?
Release the album.
The label wants Axl to move on from these songs and start working on something else?
Release the album.
The label wants Axl to go solo and see where that goes?
Release the album.
There's no situation where rejecting the album works in their favor. In fact .. it's extremely reckless to continue to sit on it.
They would've realized quickly that nothing new is being created after shit canning a release. It's literally the same songs with him adding a few vocals here and there to already recorded instrumentals.
Unfortunately for both sides...it's now getting to the period where there's no one competent to negotiate a release TB didn't know its elbow from its asshole and Merck was too busy reading forum drama and emailing Madison and Chinese Blues every day to care about anything else.
Once the project gets introduced to Irving Azoff, it's already over. It's all about dumping the beer coaster into the hands of a company dumb enough to pay the tab....which wound up being Best Buy.
Every time both the label and Axl came upon a fork in the road, they went the wrong way.

The circus factor of the 2002 band could have worked. It clearly separated old from new. In contrast the 2012 band just looked like a pale version of the old band.
He spent years building GNR back up from scratch and put a lot of soul and heart into it then he just gets cock blocked by the suits at Interscope. Must have been embarrassing.
Here's the problem with 2001-2....
It only works if there's an album in stores. Anything less dooms it to the failure it became.
He had the media kissing his ass after Vegas/Rio. This is when the label should've stood up and taken notice...the world wants him back. Just release the album he handed you...warts and all. It'll all sort itself out anyways.
Best case scenario 2001-2...
It sells anywhere from 2 to 4 million copies depending on the quality of singles and if one can hit the mainstream. The tour lasts until 2003-4. The follow up likely released around that timeframe.
This allows for Axls initial dream scenario mentioned onstage at the China show...album, tour, and then album.
Worst case scenario 2001-2
Their fears are correct, it's not up to snuff, public rejects it and album is DOA. The tour implodes just like it would in 2002...maybe even quicker. With CD now out of the way, there's simply NOTHING for him and his minions to hang over the heads of fans or the label. Any attempt to hype a followup would only bring laughter. One by one the band members bail leaving Axl by himself. This probably leads to a reunion in 2004-5...maybe even sooner which would mean Velvet Revolver never takes off.
It is still absolutely mind boggling how they had the nerve to not only appear but be the main act at the VMAs without an album or at least a song in stores. This was still the era where live performances are promoting albums/singles. Why were they even there...and why waste the mainstream debut of new GNR on THIS?
Post UYI release, did management ever make a wise decision?!?

Pretty cool for this and Perfect Crime to finally get out but IMO it's a bit too late for this stuff. Why couldn't this have made it out during the periods there were a lot of people salivating for it?
Other than people going to see these guys perform some hits, interest is at an all time low. Fan sites barely hanging on.
Simply put....all this shit was hoarded for too long.
I listened to Move to the City and Nightrain.
Next....

Too bad the Nuggets couldn't capitalize on the upset.
The Bulls-Knicks series was great...other than the fact the Bulls lost.
Knicks -Rockets finals was disappointing. Starks massively choking in that final game was unbelievable.
Decided to pause my rewatch of 95 to check out the current finals underway. DAMN....the game has really changed. It's like arcade basketball.... constant 3 pointers and the refs never call traveling, double dribble, or palming.
Hell...even centers play like point guards now! What happened?

Yeah, the NBA is insane now. I’m a Celtics fan and all they do is bomb 50 threes a game. If they make them they win by a bunch. If they miss them they lose and are a real tough frustrating watch. That’s how the game is played now though with analytics telling you shooting 3s is more efficient than 2s even if the % isn’t as high.
Yeah....Jordan talked about this eons ago. He was a damn good 3 point shooter... especially in clutch time...but he refused to go deeper into the use of 3s because he knew it would cause the rest of his game to suffer.
The current NBA pretty much proves him right.
If that's really how Jordan felt, he must have felt damn lucky to have Paxson, Armstrong, and Kerr as his 3 point weapons during the 2 3peats.
I resumed watching the 95 playoffs. With hindsight I feel bad for this Orlando team. Easily whipped the Celtics in the first round. They're young, hungry, and have no idea this is their one shot at a ring.
Jordan should've come back one or two months earlier than he did. The team is still rusty and awkward in the playoffs. What an ego he has believing he could come in at the last second before the playoffs and win another ring. He never would've allowed it but I think he would've been more effective in this year's playoffs coming off the bench as a stunt/specialty player for 15/20 minutes a game...maybe increase his minutes deeper into the playoffs.
I'm about to watch the Suns-Rockets series. Havent watched this since 95. It amazes me how the Suns did not capitalize on Jordans absence which left everything wide open.
Instead the Rockets go back to back. Was shocking then and still is.
Another team that should've jumped at the opportunity with Jordan gone is the Pacers. At least they got close.
Hornets too. They suffered from a lot of bad luck and timing.
