I’m assuming there is more studio sessions post 2001? Seems odd we don’t have any account (at least on paper) of them.

Album sales were much higher in the early 00s too. By the end of the decade the industry was falling apart and CD had acquired a reputation as a joke. 00-02 was the perfect time to do it. Axl should have just paid for the marketing himself. Surely he could afford it.
Yeah, it was all kinda fumbled from both sides. Record company wasn’t really liking the album, wanted the band to do more promotion (ie tours) before releasing it. Band was losing patience with the record compay and mgmt. Best Buy I thought saved the day in the end.
