There is no way in hell Axl intended TWAT, The Blues, Madagascar, Prostitute & Catcher to be b sides. That's absolutely ludicrous. He mentioned TWAT & The Blues as two of his favorites in January 2006 (along with Better), he also had a video filmed for Catcher in late 2002 and was showing the song off to people in 2006. It was originally intended to be saved for another album.
There is no logic in thinking him saying the songs they debuted in 2001 weren't being considered as singles means he intended them to be b sides. Ever heard of a deep cut? Why would he use a b side throwaway to show off the band at the MTV awards in 2002?
And perhaps the most insane implication: he intended the title track to be a b side!?!

Yes, but then where are all these superior songs. You would think they would be a priority for the stuff Slash and Duff worked on. The only songs I would call A-list from those are Hard School and the General. Stuff like Perhaps and Atlas feel more like b or c material. Scraping the bottom of the barrel type stuff.
The only outlier is Monsters.
I'd switch out The General for Nothin, but other than that I agree. It's been clear for a while that the dream of dozens of amazing unreleased songs just isn't reality.

I don't remember anything about Ides Of March being an A-side. We only had the one quote about Dizzy writing it from 2005, and Sp1at (the guy who conducted the 2005 interview) said a few years ago it was just an intro, not a full song.
Beltrami said Seven was the best piece of the four he worked on, but all those tracks were still instrumentals as of the time he worked on them. Brain said it was a timeless ballad with a great bridge and chorus in 2010, but that e-mail feels very tongue in cheek and according to others he gave many troll answers to questions like that during the time period. In 2019 on Appetite For Distortion he talked about writing Seven and The General, specifically adding "I think Axl sang on The General", while mentioning nothing about Axl singing on Seven. Given its absence on the now vindicated CD list, it looks like it may have never been developed beyond an instrumental.

There are the songs talked about on here back in November 2010.I still don't recall seeing the list before 2019 but i probably did.
I don't think the 2010 thing really has much to do with proving the other thing. The 2010 thing is believable, because of Tonto and as far as I recall - that was the first mention of the track until it ended up on the rough mixes.
There's no real evidence the message from Fernando thing was legit, other than people wanting to believe it. It's all stuff that could easily been generated retrospectively. Unless there's proof a track called 4 Heavens exists?
"Perhaps" - thing I think is probably why I asked, cause unless this list was circulating prior to the 2019 rough mix leaks, I don't recall it ever being mentioned until it was leaked. I'm not saying it's fake, I'm just saying unless multiple people seen this prior to rough mixes being leaked - it would have been easily fakable.
Personally I don't really care any more and barely read the GNR sections of here or MYGNR, unless someone told me there's a leak. This stuff got boring years ago and I'm probably wrong. Hence why I haven't updated this thread in eons.
I don't think it was faked, though very few people seem to have saw it prior to 2019. It lists Perhaps but not State Of Grace, and gives the correct new names for Atlas Shrugged and Nothing (Atlas & Nothin). Seems legit from what's taken place since then.

Where was he wrong because all that info that's not the "In This Grave" or "The Watch" checks out.
He didn't break any news there. Everything he said was already speculation or outright observations common on the boards in those days.

There's no evidence that guy is the same one that posted the Sorry lyrics. His post also referenced other song titles like "The Watch" and "In This Grave" that don't sound real at all.

Them being played just an instrumental, when they were played other songs that did have vocals suggests to me that none were recorded in 99 at all. The version that is out there is from March 2000 and obviously doesn't have any either.
But if you consider it was inspired by the bombing, (same week Izzy ect were writing Ocean ect) then that suggests the spark of the song came from Axl and not other members. That to me means it's likely he had a few lyrics for it but probably not all lyrics for it and just had not recorded them yet.
That he played it for magazines suggests he might have had more confidence in it than other songs they had at the time though, as I think aside from Atlas Shrugged all the other songs wound up on CD.
A few things to consider
1. We know by Dave Dominguez that Oklahoma was done lyrical very early in 1995-1996, So in my opinion it's a lot like This I Love a song with lyrics and vocals ready just needing the instrumental. Rembrandt This I love also didn't appear on the 19 village disc that we got. It's most likely on the others since it was intended to be used on the 1998 In What Dreams May Come.2. Oklahoma is on rough mixes disc 3 but it's take 10. So we don't know if the other9 by that date date had vocals.
3. When Rolling Stone was played the instrumental in 1999 it's possible that Axl wanted to tinker with it more to capture more of the sound of 1996 demo, So the version with vocals was not shared due to him wanting to redo vocals.
Just throwing out some of my thoughts.
Considering Oklahoma was a alt song at the 2001 hob show i think it was one of the first songs done.
I don't interpret Dave's comment about Oklahoma being done by the time they hit the studio to be mean the lyrics were done, I personally took that as referring to the instrumental. In another interview in 2018 he described it (and IRS) as a loop during that time period.

1.It is not just the fact that the word monster appears in both songs. In addition to the word monster, Monsters contains the line "you stole my soul". If it isn't Soul Monster, that's a far bigger coincidence than two songs with Elvis in the title.
2.The bridge in Monsters matches Axl's description of the bridge in Soul Monster perfectly. Again, very implausible that this is a coincidence, outside of wishcasting.
3.Monsters has the "Sabbath" vibe Axl alluded to. One of the first thing many listeners pointed out was the similar delivery to Ozzy, and the music, while not guitar driven, also fits the general mood of Sabbath. On the other hand, Me And My Elvis is vintage late 90s/early 2000s industrial rock. Besides the spooky keyboards, nothing in the track lines up with the Sabbath sound.
4.Monsters was almost certainly meant to be a hidden track at the end of the Perhaps vinyl, not a part of The General. "The General And Monsters" filing was probably TB or some other minion being told to register both songs and mistaking it for one long title.

Bill Brasky, who occasionally posts here, posted on Bad Apples that MSL has said Quick Song is Cuban Skies. I thought I'd post this here because MSL also occasionally posts here. I have a few questions:
1.How does MSL know this? He was definitely in possession of song titles in 2011, breaking the news on Tonto & Going Down first, among other tracks. But he said he never listened to the songs, and so he couldn't describe them, leading many to believe he simply had the list of CD 2 songs from Axl's laptop but not the actual tracks.
2.If MSL has listened to the songs on the list, has he commented on whether or not Soul Monster is Monsters? 99% of fans (including myself) are sure it is, but some, such as Brasky, are still insisting Me And My Elvis is Soul Monster.
3.Does MSL have any opinion on whether the Tonto=Tooth Puller theory has any legitimacy?
