Plus a new tour. I wanna be excited I really do. Atlas and Nothin do well nothing for me tho.

I always liked Atlas so looking forward to that. Nothin I barely remember from the leaks and haven’t gone back to it since it was mentioned so that should be a fresh track for me. Amazed they’ve not dropped Monsters but maybe saving it for the tour itself.

I know what you mean but the fact that after all this time they are moving him on tells me they still care about the whole thing. Assuming that is the reason he’s gone it says to me S and D at least are not just content with phoning it in.

Those two certainly don’t. Are they from the same soundcheck as the clip Clear posted?

Well remembered. Hard to be certain but does sound like it could be

He’s done that a couple of times. Everyone thought the rasp was gone after 02. Then he pitched up in 06 sounding like it was 92 again.

Then after a strong start in 09 the final few years of the seemingly endless post CD tour it sounded like the rasp was long gone. When he returned again with the reunion he sounded good but measured. Then he joins AC/DC and the rasp is back in full force.

He still has it in the locker I think but uses it sparingly these days. Presumably not able to sustain a full tour singing that way anymore. Which at 60 is understandable.

What I’ve noticed more strikingly this year is the decline of his cleaner (helium/mickey) voice that as been his fall back voice when not using rasp in the last 20 years. He really seems to have lost a lot of power in that range in the last 12 months.

My first assumption was he meant in spring rehearsal before the tour but could mean studio.

You think the general is Axls best vocal take on the CD era stuff? i think its one of his worst right up there with scrapped.

Oh My God is also good but only in the verses. This has a great chorus.

Stuff like This I Love is too Michael Bolton for me.

The chorus is the worst part of the general
Axl sounds way out of tune and his voice is super weak

The sound quality isn’t good enough to give fair judgement imo on General.

The bridge in Monsters however, chefs kiss. That is some of his best work since 91.

They sound different in the context of normal live variation vs studio recording. They sound the same in the context of comparing two different players and styles and interpretations.

If it’s Robin on the version we heard then Slash has done literally nothing to it. Which is unlikely when considering the other tracks we’ve heard.

Pretty sure all post reunion released tracks have CD era vocals. Absolutely nothing indicates new vocals on any of the new songs. The guy decided he wanted some aye aye’s on Hardschool and didn’t even record that. He copy and pasted it from another song he already had.

Hard Skool hey hey might be copy and paste from EYE on YOU but the way Axl sings hey hey in Perhaps with Slash is different than what Axl sings hey hey with Robin on the Perhaps rough mix demo. And it's not copy and paste. Axl sang Perhaps all over again recently in the studio. Look at the ending of Perhaps. No Finck outro. But it does have Axl singing the ending different on Perhaps than its demo. It's clear as crystal. And like someone else said I say it's not Patti Hood lol or Baz. Baz is a LEGEND and an ICON. Axl I assume has sung The General and Monsters all over again in the studio recently too. Slash I bet recently has added his guitar style to The General and Monsters in the studio too. Another poster said that Robin is piercing and strident. Well, if you listen closely to the end solo of Monsters you hear something that is strident and piercing too. It's classic Robin Finck. Slash can't play at that level. He tried on Perhaps, but Slash just couldn't quite get there. That is not in the Slash wheelhouse.

Absolute dribble.
