I must have lost my appetite because I haven’t tried to hunt these songs down the last few days. Are they much different and worth listening to?
The quality on Monsters is much better, but you're not going to hear something in this new mix that changes your mind about the track. Sounds pretty good if you're a jam on the "stereo" type of fellow.
COTR is worth hunting for IMO. Axl sounds pretty good.

This clearer and much louder version further cements that this track is second only to TWAT as the best thing post 96. I mean if a certain someone insits on leaking the BH guitar version to prove me wrong...then so be it. Why is this sitting on the shelf gathering dust? This should have been single number 1 post 3n'R. This track speaks for itself, no multi phase plan needed.
#3 Re: Guns N' Roses » Atlas » 5 weeks ago
Atlas is slowly growing on me. Nothing and Monsters could have easily replaced Scraped and This I love on CD. A material IMO.
After a few dozen listens, the jumble and lack of flow criticisms are subsiding. If time would have permitted, Atlas was worthy of making the final track listing.
With all the chatter building up to this release, I've been jamming a ton of the village sessions. I don't care if Rick hoarded back a disc, this material seing the light of day was the best thing to happen post Illusions.. A 2000 or 2001 release would have made a plausible argument for nu guns vs old guns. It's a tragedy that the trigger wasn't pulled before 2002.

Crazy week....
The Colts are collapsing...and the death blow happened today. 'Indiana' Jones out for the year. Their rookie 3rd stringer is now their starter . Colts went from the #1 seed a couple weeks ago to #7 and sinking like a lead balloon.
Yep, whenever Jones injured his fibula thereby eliminating the threat of a RPO the cracks in the armor started to show. Such a shame.
Longtime Colts fan, dating back to #4 who coaches the other LA team. It's been about 14 years of pain. Releasing Manning when he still had some left in the tank, letting Luck get clobbered for years, so he retired, and then getting qb after qb that was in the waning phase of their career. Doom and gloom
Maybe we'll erect a half great season banner and then shit can our GM Ballard.

Atlas is still trash. But Nothin is growing on me..Slash really elevated the song. The vocals melodies are quite good as well.
Monsters still takes the crown from these new old songs.
This is my sentiment as well. It's borderline tragedy that Monsters is just gathering dust. It's everything you'd expect of a "current" GN'R track. Love the bridge and the guitar licks that lead into it.
Having said that....Nothin is a fucking banger. Vocals are nice and melodies are great but, Slash shines on this track. He really takes it to that next level.

Attended a Queens of the Stone Age concert and they absolutely rocked. IMO the tightest live performers out there. However, The Kills were their opening act. I had heard one of their songs prior to this. I was absolutely blown away. I was a big fan of the garage rock revival of the 00's but these guys slipped under my radar.
Needless to say I have been spinning their discography very heavily. Better late than never I guess.

What’s next? A pic with Bob Guccionne Jr? Mick Wall? Calvin Klein?
NO, Guccionne Jr. is still pissed that his dad gets more pussy posthumously.

I'll address the elephant in the room. How the fuck did Nothing go from a trip-hop, elevator music piece of shit, to this banger? I'm getting By the Sword vibes from Slash's lead. Axl could last minute re-record the vocals on his worst day and I would still purchase whatever ep or lp that has this track. In my day we called this a single.

Nothing sounds pretty great and very fleshed out.
