That's the Hammerstein Axl and holy hell did he sound great at that time - he also seemed like he WANTED to be on stage, big time. Not saying he doesn't now.. but its.. different.

The buzz was incredible in 2006. Old fans, blogs, and the press were all extremely positive.

It all seemed meant to be... and then...

Ron and Frank were the newest fall guys for why CD had to be delayed.

They did what the boss told them.

First it was Robin quitting.
Then it was Buckethead joining.
Buckethead's illness.
Tommy's hand.
More recording. Soon is not the word.
Buckethead's "inconsistent and erratic behavior".
Brain's baby.
Recording wasn't finished (after Axl had a wrap party).
One of these 10 Tuesdays.
Ron and Frank had to be added to CD.
Needed to be remixed.
Tommy's hand again.

God this band blows.

If they're willing to throw these away as B sides, why not as legitimate singles in the 2010s?

My guess is a 4-6 year game of chicken between UMG and Axl.

UMG: It's reunion or no further releases.
Axl: I'll take my ball and go home.
UMG: You have our number.

Axl couldn't even play "Oh My God" in 2011 when it was rehearsed.

It's irrelevant.

The CD sessions are a sunk cost. They were in 2008.

The choices are (1) maximizing the way they can make money off them through professional management, traditional or otherwise - artwork, video, public relations aka things your fans enjoy (2) minimizing the money they can make off of them through Fermanager's "management" and Axl's "GNR as my own personal art project" approach aka doing the bare minimum (3) letting them rot in a vault (4) hoping a buyer will see their potential after Axl regains publishing rights in 2025.

The trend has been towards self-publishing and a self-sustaining ecosystem and they have next to none of that infrastructure in place.

On Killers of the Flower Moon, is it worth sitting through?  I still haven't finished the Irishman and the runtime scared me off.

My answer is probably "no". I will watch it again as a filmmaking nerd but I thought that the second half did a disservice to the emotion that they were trying to get across. The first half is very engaging and well done but it falls off hard for me and I really, really didn't like the ending. If the overall intent was "dealing with the sordid past" then something more proximal to the entire history should have been presented.

That disco bridge they added in the Bumblefoot version was so bad, I had to immediately go and confess to a priest.

I think that was always there, just more clear in the BBF version because there was a lot less going on

Let me joke, friend. It is all I have left. I certainly don't have any released music.
