What don't you like about it?
Don't mean to be argumentative - but Back in the Saddle into Love in an Elevator would start my night right, and Dream on into Walk this Way would ring my bell to finish off. I would go if they come back here.

He might do it for tracks that just need small overdubs. But does anyone think that if he never recorded vocals on, say, "Dub Suplex", he would do that now?
I suspect instrumentals from the old band will be gone.
I can see why they would keep songs that started as pianos tracks like Perhaps, or things Axl had already vocally worked on like Absurd and The General.
I can't imagine them getting out instrumental bucket tracks and getting slash to adapt them so that Axl can write scratch vocals now - why not just have Axl write scratch vocals to a slash riff?
I think anything Axl had significantly developed will eventually come out, but I think ideas that were instrumental only without vocal lines, and from people who are no longer around would get the chop - and probably rightfully so.
Sounded like slash seemed to think these 5 or 6 kinda tracks were what was salvageable and then the band would evolve past it.
To me the general coming out suggests that. If there was a whole industrial album planned it would surely be a part of that - but it seems like disc 2 and 3 is being changed to this kinda EP worth of chinese follow ups. Then a new era starts.
In terms of Ac/Dc back in 16 Axl kinda implied he would be ok with doing new stuff when he joked if someone could do some good writing for him too. I wonder if he would be more open to using co-writers and stuff these days now he is more chilled. I mean he always worked with Izzy and Del and Huge and stuff....so I don't think he's ever been against it...but it seemed in the snakepit days it was challanging for him to be given like 10 finished guitar instrumentals as a wall of stuff to write for....hopefully these days they could face that sort of thing as a team.
It sounds crazy to think that could happen with GNR, but I sort of feel like when it rains it pours, whatever stopped songs like the general finishing for most of our lives is gone, stuff is being released. I could imagine Axl free from the yoke of all this shit he's been imprisoned working on for so long might not know himself - like he might have much more creativity free to just play around and do fun stuff.

I think he said something during the show about how he had been experiencing a gastroenteritis type illness the previous day that had been making him vomit, and it's left his vocal chords unpredictable that night. He said something about finding ways to keep the show going and do stuff anyway so as to not let everyone down.

I liked nirvana growing up because it was simple and raw.
I could plug my guitar into a boss-DS1 stomp box or some shit, and relate to the mood of something like Teen Spirit or Breed while playing along.
I never liked how Cobain liked to paint himself as the anti-corporate guy while fronting a corporate band flogging their tshirts and videos to the masses.
I disliked how Cobain implied that GNR were studio manufactured when Axl is 10 times the musician both vocally and on keys, and Slash is lightyears ahead of him on guitar. It's absurdist really, like Slash could learn heart-shaped-box in 5 minutes whereas I'd love to see Kurt solo the end of Tokyo DTJ. Yet he's trashing him in the media and saying that they are not real musicians? Why?
I tired to get back into them a couple of years back, but like Wagszilla said the negativity was too much. Maybe i'm old, or maybe it's just dated badly. Maybe it's since Kurt died and we didn't (thankfully). The whole cool cos you want to die at 27 thing is lame as fuck in my 40s. I dunno it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth these days. Hell it's hard to listen to kids tell me what they think about the world with all these bands hahaha.
I have a similar issue with AIC being depressing but they can still bring me into it with the bad ass bass and guitar sound more than nirvana can anymore.
That said, when they are good they are good. Dave's drumming was awesome. Kurt was great on some moments - I always liked his ledbelly cover on MTV unplugged.

It's time for Chinese to come to an end.
I'm a big fan of everything he's released and everything I've heard from that era, but nevertheless, it has consumed Axl's life and apparently his creative endeavours for 25 years now. Enough is enough. Maybe these songs are as good as they can get. Maybe there's a point where re-recording stuff for the 16th time is just creating a new version of an idea that was not quite to be anyway.
Slash made it sound like they have picked the best 5 or 6 tracks of the 'Chinese leftovers' and then they will start fresh.
That's probably what we need at this stage. Axl is 61 and trying to finish concepts he thought up at 37.
None of that world even remains anymore. I like the ideas so sure bring them out. But maybe it's time to bring Axl's talent into this era and let him out of his 2002 jail.

I was always into that rumour.
Something about the song makes me think maybe Axl would dig it. I've noticed he seems to do covers that one can speculate the lyrics resonate with his life experiences.
It's def the kind of song 2006 era Axl would kick ass on.
It's the sort of thing that sounds random enough that it could have happened too.
#97 Re: Guns N' Roses » Atlas Shrugged (2023 ) - Rumour » 95 weeks ago
I think OMG has amazing lyrics, the guitars were always the weak spot on the original version we got, and unfortunately the dancier version didn't sound much better. To me a hard rock version along the lines of slash's darker songs would be fantastic.
There are indications it will be back eventually - the use of it's lyrics on stage, mentions on an alt list, the sheer fact they did a bumble version at one point, and how it's not really around on streaming anymore.
Although it was a single at one time, in a way it does feel like part of these batch of songs - things we have known but that never really knew in their proper time either. Although I hope if it comes out with Atlas they have it as a 3rd song on a mini-EP or something with State of Grace. I really don't want State of Grace to be lost to time.

36 Damn that is scary. Covid sucks.
#99 Re: Guns N' Roses » What song do you want to hear most? » 96 weeks ago
I would love to hear State of Grace cos that demo is fantastic.
I would also like the hear the verses of Eye on You and the screams converted into more of a rock context.
Oklahoma instrumental sounds like it would be interesting with vocals and Slash/Duff.
I also want a re-release of TIL with a Slash solo based around his live stuff and using the Axl scream vocals from the Brain remix.
#100 Re: Guns N' Roses » 2023 Tour Dates » 96 weeks ago
Like how Axl lowered the perhaps vocals in the chorus maybe the general will come out with all deep vocals. hope not the screams sounded epic.
To me thats the issue with slash's plan to start fresh next year too. Like Axl of 2024 would be unwise to rely on his scream range the way previous Axl would.
