Fair points, and I agree, 2009 is going to be interesting. Axl demonstrated some power, by not publicizing this album one bit, and in just two weeks has scanned now over 1 million worldwide, and sold 2 million worldwide. Moreover, the enigma continues. Marketing via silence seemed dumb (which is upside down), but everyday now looks more and more brilliant for the long run. Only works if you are big, but this is great at maintaining anti-commercial street cred.; not to mention, it keeps the media curious as to wtf he's up to. Not to mention, it's natural for the guy, he just don't give a shit one bit about what anyone thinks and is not going to prostitute himself to the media and paparazzi biz--which brings me to this point, when they do reunite, it will be for the right reasons. If it is not in 2009, so be it. Azoff, as James said, is smart enough to be in this for the long haul. GNR, by their nature, will be marketable until they drop, and even after that.

At this point, it doesn't really matter what we speculate about.
The post-CD era is going to be alot like the pre-CD era, thanks to a silent Axl Rose.
It's gonna be all speculation with no fact or nothing going on in the GN'R camp.
Oh, I disagree, I think 2009 is going to be entertaining as hell!

I gave up on any info except something Axl Rose himself might come out and say weeks ago. "Insiders" and "people with information" (more then just Mysteron) were claiming that Axl was going to make a grand statement right before CD came out.
Now all of those people haven't made any mention of that "news" at all. I think they were just hoping for coincidence to happen and make them look informed for the future.
I knew, when I read those idiots statements around that time, that they were full of shit. The posters who know something never post it on the messageboards.

GNR, due to their chaotic nature, are brilliant marketers and entertainers by default. Expecting the unexpected, and watching the madness is to rock fans, what watching rare birds is to bird watchers.
The reason the reunion talk has legs is obvious on the surface (Azoff), and the fact that there are bits and pieces of info which come to light from the industry which indicate that there is stuff going on. In reality, when this does happen, and it is likely it will, it will be decided by the bandmembers and then they will let management know. Izzy will be a key mediator--him touring in 2006 was interesting on many levels. What was cool was how well him and Axl got along again--the main duo, and original duo of GNR (anyone notice how much harder Axl would sing when Izzy was on stage). Also, Azoff isn't normal management, he maybe a facilitator for the final therapeutic sessions which would wax this out. All speculation at this point, but interesting nonetheless.

gnr fans really do set themselves p for disappointment...suckers for punishment
Nice edit to take that out of context. You forgot the "if" part.

Yeah right...
Irving Azoff signed up to be GNR's manager for this shitty release campaign for CD, and a total flop of an album.
Now Irving goes to the media talking about 'former' Guns N' Roses members, when CD, an album by a roster of 'new' GN'R members was released less than a month ago.
I'm more convinced it's happening now.
Exactly--I think he's just saying "we'll tell you what is going on when and where we are ready, on our terms not the Sun's". They want to roll this out, and don't want "leaks" of the news--as they have to legally work through some of the current members contracts, "if", a big "if" this was going to happen. On the other hand, if Axl tours with a new incarnation, I hope they are wise enough to do intimate theater shows in the U.S., instead of Hockey Rinks.
BTW, Neemo, that is the pure vague, manager speak. He could be saying all kinds of things--for instance, he could mean that only "Gilby, Finck, Buckethead, and Matt" are officially "former bandmembers", etc.

I think this is more of a shot at The Sun (tabloid), than anything else. I am sure Azoff hates them, as they trash any celebrity, many of which he manages. This is meaningless, and is really just semantics--like Obama denying Hillary was going to be Sec. of State for a few weeks "I have not discussed this with Ms. Clinton", when he was telling the truth, as his people had talked to her, but not him directly. Same thing here--there could be communications going on, that started today, but weren't yesterday, etc. Really who knows!!. Another thing, with Azoff---he is shrewd. Remember how he leaked the Wal-Mart vs. Best Buy piece, to get Best Buy to sign the exclusive. This maybe the same thing, he wants promoters to ante up more cash for the reunion. There is more than meets the eye with Non-Denial, Denials--they are issued for a reason, at a reasoned time.
Oh wow, reading his statement again, I am now convinced there in fact is something going on.

A Non-Denial, Denial...LOL!

Whatever. The charts have no impact on me. I could care less. How do charts impact your lives? Why do they matter? If you love a band and music, then love it, but don't let commercial fad's determine your taste.

325,000 albums sold in two weeks during the worst economic crisis in over seventy years, the worst crisis in the music industries history, and only being sold in one store which has about 900 store fronts (after closings), and 30% less foot traffic year over year, is not that bad. Cry all you want, the album is good, the legend is still in tact, and the silence maintains the enigma. Fuck it, it's nearly X-mas, and I have Chinese Democracy in my hands, and still have a job. All things considered, I don't have much to complain about. Who gives a shit about Britney, the fad-chasers, and the commercial side of the industry. If you love music, and love GNR there is not much to cry about. I've given up worrying about these #'s, it's a never-ending vicarious mind-fuck that has ZERO impact on my life or ability to judge and like music!
GNFR!!!
