Good points.
I always saw the re-recorded AFD partly as a way for Axl to chase away Slash's ghost in his head. Clearing the space. It seems less psychological with the new guys
It's a little bit different with replacing Bucket on SR Scraped etc, I mean I wasn't a fan of that, thought it detracted from the flow of the songs. The album wasn't out yet though and it's not exactly replacing the TWAT solo.
I suppose anything can happen. I wouldn't care for it and would prefer they just focus on the new or old new.
Who knows though!

Nice job.
I still want that Andy Wallace mix of "Better". I don't think it's sounded better, pardon the pun.

I consider this a possibility:
I don't think Axl would re-record them. He is a man of loyalty and honor. And wouldn't the record company have to pay add'l royalties if they did?
Anyway, I think a VBO in 2016 and AFD30 in 2017 are likely although if they wait until 2018, let alone 2020 to release new stuff, no one is going to take them seriously. They'll be in the Stones, AC/DC echelon of record is an excuse to tour crowd.
It should be a monsoon of GN'R the next couple of years.
It call comes down to if Axl still has the nerve.

I listened to Tommy's "One Man Mutiny" record last night.
I got an easy listening, drive and cruise vibe from it. A heavy Stones influence throughout. It was certainly competently done but it didn't grab me.
I also listened to Slash's Snakepit "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". I found it to be awful.

I consider re-recording CD very unlikely for both financial and creative reasons.
As far as new music, if I'm the record company, I want CD II out there. This is their best shot of making the most money off of that material. Axl kicking the bucket will re-spark a love for his work (sorry for being grim) so (1) the better the more work there is to discover and (2) box sets only cater to a smaller section of your audience.
Even if CD II is absolute garbage, which I doubt, riding a wave of nostalgia and good vibes from this tour will mean it sells well given at least an adequate level of promotion. If it fails, even with promotion, which I doubt, then they can say, well Axl, we gave it our God's honest best shot. Now get to recording new music with this Slash and Duff and you know maybe call Izzy, otherwise we're not releasing jack shit.
I would consider this scenario about as likely as CD being re-recorded but I've thought about Axl sidestepping the politics of the GNR name, and releasing CD II with a new band. If he is truly repentant maybe Herr Bucket or Rob i n would grant him penance. Leave me my fantasy, please.
But really what's going to happen is an unperturbed nostalgia tour until mid 2017 before new music is likely even considered. #cynical

But I think Axl's creative process is too vexed for him to sacrifice songs to hardcores only boxset like a Fink/Bucket collection of 99/02 unreleased songswould be.
Yes, I doubt it for these reasons too.
The record company probably would be completely against it as well. GN'R at the height of their popularity couldn't pull off the double album thing. Nor could The Beatles.
Honestly, I think we get a VBO 2016, AFD 30 2017, and maybe possibly a new album 2018 the way things are going.
This is all the opposite of what they should do of course.

I'm a big fan of The Slip as well.
I don't care much for their mid 00s work outside of the singles.

This is one of the best GNR related side-projects, if not the best.

Some mygner "experts " have nerves to say Pitman is a bad musician :facepalm.
That's what I posted.
Sextapes is also underrated although not as good as Lusk.
#1019 Re: The Sunset Strip » What Are You Listening To? » 475 weeks ago

This is my favorite excluding Buckethead or The Replacements.
I haven't listened to Tommy's solo stuff yet.
