Maybe fake Blind Melon and fake Alice In Chains can open for fake GNR! Call it something else and play a few Blind Melon songs. Seeing someone else singing Shannon Hoon's songs, while calling it Blind Melon, holds no interest for me. Same as seeing some perfectly healthy, never touched a hard drug in his life fellow singing "Down In A Hole" and calling it AIC. Move on already. I'll be buying that book though.

Cantrell wrote "Down In A Hole", should he not be able to perform his own song anymore?

Honestly, I'd rather see Cantrell concentrate on his solo career, both of the albums he put out were fantastic, but AIC was Cantrell's band.

On topic for this thread though, Blind Melon is playing here in March.  I'll decide whether or not I need to buy that album after seeing them live and hearing more of the new material.

I have read a few people say that it was Slash who said they sounded like Skid Row.
I even read it on Wikki, but if I recall  correctly it was Duff. 2 seconds I will find it.

Slash said it in his autobiography too, I assume that's what people are referring to.

I remember at the time Billy Idol's name came up.  I don't think they wanted him specifically, they were just saying "someone like Billy Idol".

I think they just didn't have any idea what they wanted, the just knew what it wasn't after they heard it.

Haven't heard of half the bands in this thread so will have to check em out smile Ive thought both the below could have gone on to greater accomplishments had they not disbanded/died.

Whiskeytown
Elliott Smith

I have a compilation with a Whiskeytown song on it that I really like, but I've never went out of my way to find more from them.  I probably should.

Kings X and Perry/4 Non Blondes...great calls.  King's X was fantastic (didn't the singer do some cool song with Cornell and some other top musicians once? Seems like it was a tribute to a fallen friend who died from an OD?).

I never heard that, it's possible though.

I know at one point he was going to do something with Either Jeff Ament or Mike McCready from Pearl Jam(I don't remember which).  If that ever actually came out I never heard it.

Yeah, I remember seeing the video now.  I'm not sure if Mike or Jeff was in this song but it was this reply that made me remember.  Seems like they may have been out around a campfire type of setting or something.  The song was awesome but I only saw part of it at two different times I believe.  I'll try and do some research on this and see if I can come up with it.  The name of the song is almost on my tongue but I can't place it.  Great tune I remember and I will do my best to remember and research this one.  I've been hella busy lately so if I forget pm me and remind me.  The video kind of had a Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog) feel I think.

I looked around and see Pinnick mentioning wanting to work with Cornell because they're friends, but saying it never happened.  Also, as best I can tell the thing with the guys from PJ (turns out it was Ament and McCready) never came out, the last mentions of it I can find are from about 2 or 3 years ago.

Just because you mentioned the campfire, are you sure you're not thinking of this.

And that reminds me, put Sevendust on this list too.

I was thinking about this more and started looking around to see what I could find and came across this, Who knows how valid it is, but it's interesting, and points to what we've already said.

With tonight being RAW's High Definition debut, WWE told all Superstars to be extra careful when calling their spots in the ring and to alter their in-ring style someone to prevent moves from appearing too light on camera. WWE has used the new HD equipment to film the last few tapings, but won't flip the switch to broadcast in HD until tonight. Source: PWInsider

Somebody else came out recently that we all knew was gay but I can't remember who right now. But yeah, I wish these people would just roll the dice and come out. I mean, look at Britney Spears... you can get away with a lot more then being gay anymore.

Are you thinking of Jodi Foster?

First band that ever comes to my mind when people ask this is King's X.

They get musicianship and groove together better than any other band ever.  Killer harmonies too.

Alrite then, looks like it's going to be a freezing day of football to get to see who plays in the Super Bowl. Even though I'm a Bears fan, I do hope the Packers make it. It's pretty hard to root against Brett Farve. He's the guy everyone would want as their QB. The guy is a warrior.

Also, I know CC will be interested to know, they just said Buffalo will be playing a regular season game in Toronto next season.

The NFL should expand into Toronto and Los Angeles.  They're both great football markets.  The trouble with any more expansion though is that Paul Taglibue said once the league reaches 32 teams that there would be no more expansion so it would take some monumental efforts by a couple of cities at the same time to get the owners and the new commissioner to relent.

BTW I'm a Steelers fan but Brett Favre might be my favorite player of all time.  I'd say the Packers are my 3rd or 4th favorite so it's not so bad.

Hitting different markets is fine, but I honestly think 32 teams is a bit too many as it is.  I wouldn't mind them going back down to 30.  It's not gonna happen because there's less money that way, but the talent pool would be a bit less diluted.
