#1031 Re: Guns N' Roses » Another cash grab tour? - Rumored Brazil tour first half of 2008 » 912 weeks ago
I appreciate both sides on how people feel about this rumoured tour but for me it is senseless to do another tour of "covers" with a few CD songs we have already heard (some for seven years now) thrown in to justify a new tour.
I don't think it makes anyone a whiner to expect a little respect from someone you have supported for 20 years now. Axl can't expect to promise things like "this year" and then say we will be given updates then just turn his back on all of that and decide to go milk the cash cow again.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trashing GNR nor Axl. If CD came out tomorrow I'd be breaking my neck to get a copy. If GNR came close by for a show, I'd be there. I'm just saying I'd be much more excited about it if the album were released and if we the fans were shown a little more respect. Another tour without any new music is just the same ol' same ol'.

Two on this list interest me; Cloverfield and The Dark Knight. Both of those will likely get some of my cash. The Rambo movie...maybe. I loved some of the Rambo movies I have seen but Stallone doing Rambo now? At his age? Dunno.

Noone can deny what Levy has done. He has solidified his place forever in the history of the franchise and has accomplished some great things but that was then and this is now. Things are slowly looking better for Buffalo and a new GM could bring a much needed jolt to a franchise who has been fairly stale for the last decade.

This is what I call a reality check...not always what you want to hear but the way it is.
In my opinion there is absolutely no chance we've seen the last of GNR at this point.
I'm hoping you are right Russ. Although I am skeptical as to the future of what will happen next (if anything at all) there is no doubt that I would love too see things get rolling again for Axl & Co. No matter how much we realists see a strong potential for an unfavorable outcome with GNR, this doesn't mean we wouldn't like to see the opposite happen. In the end we are all here for the same two reasons...the friends we have made in this community and because we all share a love for the music of one Axl Rose.

#1038 Re: The Sunset Strip » Jessica Simpson Going Country On New Album » 912 weeks ago
I'm not much into country other than a few songs by people like Johnny Cash but I can definitely see her doing country. In my opinion most of the music I've heard belonging to the country genre (outside of the obvious legends) is very simplistic .... simplicity should serve her intellect quite well. Hell, she can't do much worse than she already has...right?

Happy New Year to everyone! The members of this site refused to let this community die and it is the MEMBERS NOT a NAME that make a forum great. This is one tight knit group of people who absolutely refused to let adversity destroy the bond we all share together. Special thanks should be given to James, DTJ, Neemo and Downliner for busting their asses to make this place happen "behind the curtain", especially when times were much less certain on the "how to's" that had to be dealt with in order to save the community and see it continue with its personality, friendships, and kick ass attitude left perfectly intact.
To everyone involved both old and new...have a great and blessed New Year and may a great deal more good than bad fill your year that will be 2008.
Peace

- Gunslinger

With a few exceptions, most of us use a created user name as our identity in the community. What is the origin for everyone's user name?
I have went by several names at various forums over the years (usually because I would forget my passwords and would have to come up with a new name by neccessity) but now try to stick to Gunslinger as much as possible. I decided to use this name for several reasons. The most obvious is the "Gunslinger" is my favorite character from my favorite work of fiction, Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Another reason was the play on words that was evident. Guns Linger (put together Gunslinger), as in they are still around (this was at a time I actually thought Chinese Democracy was new and exciting and "coming soon":! ) I also used to pass around quite a bit of GNR demos, outtakes, etc to fans of the boards I was on....thus 'Slinging some tunes around. This is something I hope to start again soon in the form of a daily upload thread here at GNRevolution.
