Yep, I'm not a fan of hers
But she's a GIRL. Aren't you supposed to like her by default.
She's the 2016 version of Tracy & Roberta. Nice eye candy (if you're into skinny J-pop looking chicks), but completely pointless and unnecessary up there:
I liked Tracy & Roberta's backing vocals (the concept is similar to The Stones, Van Morrison, and a lot of big rock bands).
I'm Switzerland on Melissa so far but I think the fawning over her has been particularly embarrassing. Pitman was important 2001-2002 and in the studio so I don't have anything against him although maybe it was good for him to get his personal life in order.

I agree he is sounding way better this tour. Best he's sounded since 2006-2007.
Also good point on this show being back-to-back.
axl has had no problem with irs in the past and is singing much better than he has in decades. he is nailing more than one register, wag.
I haven't been listening to every song every concert but I watched "Rocket Queen" in Philly last week and now "Catcher" in Foxboro and I thought he was struggling with those tracks. I could be wrong and just happening to listen to the less impressive performances.

Glad they're playing more CD stuff.
Havent got to listen yet, but I'm glad these Chinese cuts have a home in the set list. The surprise appearance of catcher gives me hope we may yet see this lineup's take on IRS.
I don't know why they don't. Simple song to play.
It is super vocally demanding, though, and Axl has been struggling with anything not high register.

A good thing to keep in mind is that the people who post on message boards =/= your average joe.
A lot of my friends love CD and know that Axl's the only original guy on it. The can take it for what it is and be more objective.
I don't care about Adler. At all. I may or may not care about Izzy despite his importance to the early days of GNR.
I care about new music with Axl singing. That's my personal opinion.

I find some things about this tour distasteful but the setlist isn't one of them.
It seems obvious to me that they've avoided Izzy songs and the more creative and complicated / creative CD songs. Slash has done a decent job with "Better" and "Chinese Democracy" but he's also had some real shit-tier performances with those songs as well.
They're halfway through this leg of the tour. I think now is the perfect time to start switching it up.
The UYI tour was unprecedented but people also fail to remember the myriad of cancelled shows, Axl voice issues, late shows, etc.
But I will say my expectations are getting higher and bullshit tolerance is getting lower. The band is in the best position it can possibly be in to succeed with new music, releasing old stuff, etc., so they need to deliver the goods to their fans who have been getting deep dicked for 15 years.

Axl's best songwriting on AFD and UYI are all lucid but they're also very direct and on the nose.
He matures quite a bit on Chinese Democracy in his style. It's more abstract, subtle, ambiguous, and overall much more artful.
I would say that he shouldn't listen to what the fans say on anything. I like to think I'm a "good fan" but when it comes down to it, I largely know nothing about the nitty gritty of music. Except the voice he uses on "Madagascar". I mean, do your artistic thing, I appreciate the deep thinking and it was interesting to learn about the Old Man and the Sea, but sing that one straight. It fits the gothic / gospel tone of the song.

Slash is cool, Buckethead is cool, everything is cool.

Awww isn't it cute watching Slash try to emulate Buckethead.
It's cool that they played it. I'm all for as much CD material as possible.

I think it's interesting how Izzy has a fire under his ass writing/releasing all this music now.
Hell hath no fury like an Izzy scorned.
