I certainly hope not.  We do need a change without question but this isn't the answer.

My predictions:

The next election will be close once again.

Osama Bin Laden will be found, but not necessarily captured.

NE won't be in the Superbowl but an AFC team will win it....again.

If Chinese Democracy isn't released by Summer the new band will begin to dismantle and Axl will officially call off the album once and for all.

Ozzy may not make it through the year.

A major celebrity will be murdered and this will happen in the summer.

Led Zeppelin will break all records for tours.

The next president will have an assassination attempt on him.

The price of gas will continue to rise for the first part of the year but then surprisingly take a fall.

There will be several record snowfalls this winter.

STP will reunite.

I still prefer my PS3.  I have played it since release with no problems whatsoever.  Admittedly it had a slow start and gave XBOX a new life but I think that's a good thing.  Had PS3 came in and dominated everyone then there would be less competition and we all know less competition = less quality games.  Anyone who doubts that take a look at EA's history.  XBOX 360/Wii's success has been nothing but great for Playstation 3 owners.  It made them (Sony) realize they HAD to step it up.  To be honest I do believe there is a bit more of a learning curve to program for the PS3 as well, the same was true for the PS2.

The game situation has GREATLY improved and the quality is amazing.  Drake's Fortune/Assassin's Creed (my current favorite)/Call of Duty 4/Time Crisis 4/MX vs ATV ... ALL GREAT stuff!  Then we have MGS4, Gran Tourismo 5 and several other big titles just around the corner.  The PS3 is hardly dead, it has had a strong rebirth and the Blu Ray technology has all but won the war of the next generation high definition format.   I'm very satisfied with my system but whether you choose the PS3, XBOX 360 or the Wii you are doing fine.  All are great systems.

The Colts looked really good again yesterday.  I still think that if Harrison is back that the Colts can and WILL (strong prediction but I stand by it) defeat the Patriots.  Many people claim that NE is the only real dynasty in today's NFL football era but I would disagree.  The Colts have now won 10 or more games in the past six consecutive seasons.  I think that builds a case within itself.

I think the Pats have lost alot of sizzle.  The Patriots played the weakest team in the NFL and won 28 - 7 ... BUT .... the score was 28 - 0 at halftime.   This means a shabby team like this year's Dolphins not only outscored New England in the second half (7 - 0), they actually shut them out.  That's significant because it is showing a trend.  A few teams with poor records nearly cost NE their perfect season and then Miami shuts them out in the second half.  Keep in mind than everyone thought that Peyton Manning's 49 touchdowns would be destroyed by now...hardly.  Brady needs another TD to tie it and two to go one over.  He isn't going to destroy it.  Everyone thought Moss would destroy Rice's 22 TD receptions but he is in the same boat as Brady, one to tie it and two to beat it.  Hardly destroying.  By no means am I saying that NE hasn't did some very impressive things but my point is that a couple months ago everyone would have expected these records to have been totally shattered instead of going into the last week of the season trying to tie and then break them.  This means there has been a fairly good slowdown in NE's dominance I think.   Regardless of what Brady, Moss, whoever says they WANT those records, they just simply haven't been able to finish the deal yet.  Against Miami, you would have thought it would have been a walk in the park.  They should have owned them in the second half of the game...instead they were silenced.

New York found a potent running game yesterday.  Could they end the perfect season?

I'll buy it.  When I download an album by any artist I do one of two things.  One, I toss it if I didn't like it, I have enough stuff packed around without making a new "cd coaster".  Two, I go out and buy the "real" copy.  I don't feel like I really have the real thing unless I get the whole package and if I like the music then I support the artist.  Good music is worth my ten to fifteen bucks.

Even a Scrooge like me can't help but feel good about a story like this.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Susan Dahl had spent four months homeless in Colorado and just been on a harrowing 10-hour bus trip through sleet and snow. Hungry and broke, all she wanted to do was get back to family in Minnesota.

That's when a tall man in a red coat and red hat sat next to her at the downtown bus station, talked to her quietly and then slipped her $100 on that recent December afternoon.

The man was doing the work of Larry Stewart, Kansas City's original Secret Santa who anonymously wandered city streets doling out $100 bills to anyone who looked like they needed it. Stewart died of cancer at age 58 earlier this year. But his legacy lives on.

"He said `Here's a $100 bill ... and this is in memory of Larry Stewart,'" said Dahl, 56.

Over about a quarter century, Stewart quietly gave out more than $1.3 million to people in laundromats, diners, bus stations, shelters and thrift stores, saying it was his way of giving back at Christmas for all the wealth and generosity he had received in his lifetime.

For years, Stewart did not want his name known or want thanks or applause, but last December he acknowledged who he was and used his last few months while battling cancer to press his message of kindness toward others. He even trained some friends in the ways of Secret Santa.

This Christmas, a friend who told Stewart in the hospital that he would carry on for him is out on the streets, handing out $100 bills, each one stamped with "Larry Stewart, Secret Santa."

Between Kansas City and several other cities this Christmas, the new Secret Santa will give away $75,000 of his own money, mostly in $100 bills.

"I didn't want to be a Secret Santa," said the man, a business consultant who lives in the Kansas City area. "I wanted to give Larry money. But last year, he said I had to hand it out myself. So I did, and I got hooked."

This new Secret Santa talks about Larry Stewart to just about everyone he encounters. "Have you ever heard of a man named Larry Stewart?" he asks before handing out $100 or more.

Depending on who he's talking to, the new Secret Santa might say Stewart was a man who believed in making people happy by giving them money they didn't have to ask for, apply for or wait in line for.

"There was this fella named Larry Stewart," he tells a man in the bus station. "He was an old friend of mine. He was called Secret Santa, and every year he would find a few people who might need a little money and he would ask that you pass on the kindness."

People respond differently to the gesture. Some cry. Some scream. A rare few even say "No thanks."

Others take the money and offer their own gifts. like Robert Young, who was homeless and had only 20 cents in his pocket. When Secret Santa gave him $200, Young, 50, took out an old notebook and ripped out a song he had written.

"It's yours now," he told Secret Santa, who thanked Young, and carefully tucked the pages into his pocket.

The new Secret Santa has also started a Web site, and is trying to recruit other Secret Santas across the country. "Larry's dream was for a Secret Santa in every city," Kansas City's Santa said.

There are now a couple apprentices, with more candidates turning up all the time. But, he says, you don't have to be willing to hand out money to be a Secret Santa.

"Anyone can be a Secret Santa," he says. "You don't have to give away $100. You can give away kindnes. Help someone."

#1077 Re: The Sunset Strip » Baz blames internet for album tanking, no new album for "a LONG time" » 914 weeks ago

I like Baz's music, could give a fuck less if someone else doesn't.  That's the way it should be.  I like music from before my time up until the current music.  This idea that something is "too 80's" or "too 90's" is silly to me.  If people think that only teenagers can move albums then why did the Eagles last release go number one?  Everytime a new Beatles compilation is released it goes straight to the top.  I'm not saying that Sebastian Bach is ANYWHERE NEAR that playing field but my point is that the idea that it is solely some sort of "dated" sound hurting him flies about as well (to me) as Baz's excuses of why his album didn't sell well.  The album is good but it is his own fault more copies were not moved.

Promotion and lack of releases from Baz since 95 has much to do with it.  The prior album "Bring 'Em Bach Alive" was not even intended originally as a proper release.  It only showcases four or five new songs, the rest of the album is simply live material with his "new" band.   The one really solid album he has done in between this album and the new album was with a band called Frameshift but due to legalities only fans know this as he isn't promoted anyway whatsoever as the singer for Frameshift.

Now the BIGGEST problems.  Not everyone goes out and keeps up with music like the people (we of the forums) you will find on forums like this one.  We are more of the die hards.  My point being if I were not a heavy collector of music or at the least had the love for music at the level I do then why would I buy (have bought) Angel Down?  Baz hasn't released hardly anything, there was very little real promotion for the album and (let's face it) if I'm basing my opinion of Baz on his most recent "claims to fame" then what would I know of him?  I'd see a guy who acted like an ass on Supergroup, a dude doing some opera on Broadway and a guy approaching middle-age trying to get some publicity by being on a show RAPPING!!??  These reasons would not interest me to go and buy the current album IF I even knew he had one out and I believe these are the main reasons the album did poorly.

I have all of the Nails music videos (singles, Closure 1+2, Broken dvd rip etc) ripped to my PC. If anyone wants them uploading drop me a PM or reply here (preferably with a handful of links to good uploading sites wink )

It's not in order but Burn is my favorite song by NIN, very underrated and not known that well.

#1079 Re: The Garden » The NFL 2007-08 Season thread » 914 weeks ago

My problem with Moss was his attitude.  He made frequent public comments that basically said "he didn't care" about his team's struggles or his level of play.  This is a paraphrase but it was close to this "If they [the Raiders] don't care, then why should I?"  Several people were outraged and Mike Ditka even said he has no place in the NFL with that kind of attitude.  He should care because he was PAID to care.  Now he is on a winning team and is "Mr Team-oriented Guy"....bullshit.  Let's see how team oriented he is if they lose in the playoffs, which I really believe they will.

These are not their only good songs. There are so many of them but these are the ones I listen to most.

I'll list my NIN too, but it doesn't look a lot like yours.

1. Only
2. March of the Pigs
3. Closer
4. Big Come Down

6. Head Like a Hole
7. Ruiner
8. Just Like You Imagined
9. Mr. Self-Destruct
10. Hand That Feeds

It's a shame because I wish I could put more Fragile-era stuff on here but it's too big to compress into good songs. We only overlap on 4, which is cool, I think.
