Yeah, I can see on this and some other songs great guitar moments from Slash. what bugs me the most is the overall song structures. I don't know how to express it, but they don't sound "fresh", you know?
I haven't heard anything from Slash and Duff that got me the way I was gotten the first time I've heard "Better".
Some of Izzy songs get me all goosebumps even when it's hard not to imagine the Axl touch on them.
The most Slash got me was on the first Snakepit album (a few moments) and on his solo album with Gotten and By The Sword... but no goosebumps there! 16

I haven't heard Contraband on its full form, so I'm using the face offs to do so... This American Man song is pretty dull...
I don't know, sometimes Axl makes perfect sense on not wanting to do Slash's material.. If songs like this (and many many others) get to be RELEASED, I imagine all the things that gets thrown as "the next big thing"...
Anyway, voted Catcher that I agree the demo sounds better but even Silkworms is better than AM.

I like the song. However, it really doesn't fit on Chinese Democracy. To me, it sounds like a song written for a movie soundtrack.

Although written by Axl alledgedly in Paris, '92, the song was rumoured to be on What Dreams May Come and almost made the cut.

"Dawn Soler, the musical supervisor for the film, has said in an interview that Axl Rose intended to have the then-unreleased Guns N' Roses song "This I Love" in the film, but Ward did not use the song. It was later added to the band's album Chinese Democracy."

Definetely there's the main melody of the verses and chorus there...

I've recently asked Matt Sorum if he played with Slash and Duff on any version of This I Love and he said no, there was only piano versions floating around back then.

Also, that he didn't work on any song that ended up being released by Axl - Oh My God included - and that he wasn't proud of any work he done with the band after Slash's departure.

Altough very similar to the original (in some sense, and the arrangements) I like this version, I think it does justice to the original and it's nice to see some homage from new artists and notice that the time has passed and some of GN'R songs are still holding the battle against time and sounding dated style wise.

Estranged = Got me through a lot of difficult (and lonely) times.
Prostitute = The lyrics and overall structure feel like a breath of fresh air, I don't know, to me it's the best song off of Chinese. bucket work is amazing on this song.
Better = First leak I've heard (although I was already in love with The Blues), felt my faith on GNR be reassambled by the heavy guitar riff 9 "the hardest part this troubled heart..." (Altough I always felt the intro was too much Jennifer Lopez to my taste - in 2006 there was a song by her that had a similar intro) 10
Coma = Been there, done that.
Rocket Queen = Figured I had to put some Appetite song or people would bash me! 19

I get what you're saying, but to me you don't need a reason to tour. If an artist wants to perform, they should do so. If people want to watch them, they should. IMO, everything shouldn't be about selling albums, etc.

To me it's not about selling albums but it's about MOVING ON...

It's time already for Axl to let the past (past band and the chinese saga) behind and move on, make new music and enjoy the band he has now - that, from my point of view is the first lineup to stand bahind him and try to push him forward to positive things.

Perhaps the only ones to do that and not walk off on the guy were Tobias and Reed in the nineties. Stinson is BY FAR the most loyal member EVER in Guns N' Roses history by my accounts.

It was Estranged now it seems to be Prostitute.
If it was to choose two I'd have no doubt.
