Go back a page. 16

and while we're on this topic, anyone have worldwide sales figures for U2's latest album?

Six million. If it hadn't had disappointing sales here in the U.S., would have easily topped 10 million already. The singles didn't catch on, which played a huge role in those sales figures.

are you actually being serious? if the album sold 4 MILLILON more records in the U.S. it would have EASILY topped 10M? seriously, were you just purposely being sarcastic?

i hope you are because you are always really quick to paint a picture of doom and gloom for GnR, so it would be really hypocritical of you to do the total opposite for U2.

I agree, but GNR's window in that league was very small compared to those bands. If people are going to belittle U2's legacy, what does that say about GNR?

who is belittling U2's legacy? that would just be silly.

yes, gnr has not been releasing music and touring as consistently as those other bands. and those bands deserve ALOT of credit for maintaining that level of success for so long.

but the fact that GnR still deserves to be mentioned with them speaks volumes for how great they are. is the Doors and Nirvana's "greatness" impacted becuase they were only touring for a few years?

U2 and Metallica are probably the biggest bands in the world that came out in the last 30 years. and probably the best in terms their impact and influence.

but my personal favorite band is GnR. Their influence and impact is huge, and they absolutely deserve to be mentioned in the same catoegory as those other bands.

the fact that the haters compare GnR to these bands (and other legends) proves that point. (Afterall, let's be honest, i love a band like Weezer as much as anybody, but it would just be unfair to compare them to a U2 or metallica. whereas comparing GnR to those bands actually makes sense.)

for the record, it had nothing to do with Buzz's posts that promted me to post. like i said, stating that tix sales suck is stating a fact (assuming that is true, i haven't checked). so maybe the FACT is that they are not selling out, or selling as well as ACDC.

it's when people bitch about set lists, that haven't occurred yet, or ASSUME they know and understand the goals of Axl, or when they ASSUME what the "nutswingers" and "fair weathered fans" are thinking/feeling, that's when i feel promoted to call people out on their BS.

remember, just because you post it over and over and over, still don't make your BS true. don't fool yourself.

i call it as i see it. and i got no problem with people stating facts. and i have my issues with this band and how they operate. but still never considered myself "negative."

but stating opinions as fact, and bitching about it just to bitch. that's sad. and it makes me laugh that people waste time on a gnr board to vent.

set lists suck? album sucks? novelty act? these are opinions or statements that cannot be proven. but if coming on this board and stating them over and over and over as fact makes you feel good, do it. but you gotta expect to get called out on it once in a while.

#106 Re: Guns N' Roses » how are the shows selling this time around? » 843 weeks ago

gnr is prepping for what appears to be a legitimate world tour, so all the haters have to move onto something else to bitch about. is whining about setlists from 3 years ago really the best you can come up with?

#107 Re: Guns N' Roses » how are the shows selling this time around? » 844 weeks ago

the negativity on this board is hilarious. i guess some people just need an outlet to bitch about something in life, and this is it.

the same people that bitched all year about no tours, are now bitching about set lists that we haven't even seen yet. 14

i love the new album. i've listened to it a ton in the last year, after years of playing leaks and live cuts to death. some of GnR's best music ever is on CD. can't wait to hear some new songs live.

still, i love AFD. greatest album of all time. and i will be disappointed if i didn't hear at least 8 songs from it when i see them live. but if that's the case, i'll get over it. not a big deal and i will enjoy whatever they play almost as much.

here's an interesting article regarding set lists and another band (ACDC)...http://knac.com/article.asp?ArticleID=7288

#108 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR tour dates in Canada? » 846 weeks ago

it's funny how people say "gnr needs to do this" or "they need to that."

don't you people pay attention??? they don't do much by the book. and despite 10+ years of not following the standard rules, they can still book a major tour on different continents around the world.

clearly, gnr doesn't HAVE to do anything.

#109 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR tour dates in Canada? » 847 weeks ago

i have 3 points/questions....

1. that countdown ends Monday morning at 7AM. not sure what time zone it is though. wouldn't be surprised if it's central, which would mean it's 8AM EST.

2. just to clarify, those gnr theatrical shows are just a total coincidence. they have nothing to do with GnR, they are not related to the announcement on Monday. they just happen to be occuring in the same country. is this correct???

3. it doesn't seem likely to me that they would tour canada and not tour the U.S. at the same time. possible, but not likely. so i see 2 possibilites - these are warm-up shows, or they are the beginning of a North American tour for the first half of 2010.

Slash is a great #2 man. nothing more.

this board is anti-Axl on average. but all opinions are welcome which is nice.

Holy shit!  How can anyone believe that?  And this is coming from a guy that is not that high on Slash here.  Slash a #2??!! Gimme a fucking break!  Ask Joe Public who was in GNR.  They'll say Slash and Axl.  VR was largely popular because Slash was in this obviously he wasn't the sole reason but it didn't hurt.  When Joe Public asks for a GNR reunion they couldn't care less about who else will play in GNR as long as Slash is there.  And even amongst fans.  As long as Slash comes back it'll be GNR again (even though Izzy would be the one to make it GNR again).  Slash I would say is known has much as Axl.  And I'm willing to bet his solo record will be more successful than CD.  Not bad for a #2 man.  As for this board being anti Axl.  I can't believe this.  You have just as much Axl-ite here.  But it's mostly realistic people not worshipping the shit Axl craps in the toilet.

you think slash could get a bunch of no names in his band and sell out MSG? not a chance.

i'm a die hard slash fan, but i'm not blind either. i hope his album is great. i hope it sells well. but i'll also realize that having some mega-stars appear on it will certainly help sales.

and on top of all this, he is constantly TRYING to be as famous as possible. yet he's not even in Axl's league.
