Well I don't know. You just said there is no poltical message here yet now you're explaining the songs in depth meaning and commentary on society and basically express your admiration for Axl for writing it. I could not disagree more. The thought provoking explanation for the content in my opinion was an excuse Axl came up with after he caught flak for it. All it was, was a disgusting rant from an ignorant redneck. And to suggest the lyrical deliver is almost playful.... c'mon man. It's loaded with venom and hate an is obviously an angry rant. It's ignorant, it's racist, it biggoted. He may not be those things, a racist or a biggot but in this moment when he used these lyrics and then decided to keep these lyrics yes he is. You can't say "Oh I'm not racist" but then drop the word nigger in a blatantly derogetory fashion. You can't say you're not a biggot then use the word faggot with such ignornace ad then deliver a line about them spreading fucking diseases. At the core of these lyrics there is biggotry and racisim and absolute ignorance.
Like I said I highly doubt this would be deemed acceptable art had it been another artist saying these things. Yet not only does Axl get a pass here based on his ignornace, it's made into a thing to admire because he's making a true, honest statement that reflects his feelings and the feeling of many?
Meh. I can't buy into any of that shit. I think the lyrics are pure trash and all he accomplished with this "message" was showcasing his ignorance which I think is a real shame given it's the best vocal delivery of his career in my opinion. For a guy who can write lyrics to songs like Coma and Locomotive he coudl've easily conveyed the same message without these lyrics. You don't leave lyrics like that in your song unless there's a part of you that feels those words are acceptable and if there's not a part of you that actually feels(felt) that way.

Totally disagree. Jericho was a midcarder in WCW when he left and Vince placed him right in the middle of a feud with The Rock and really promoted him when he first entered the company. Y2J was not a sure thing at that point.
I can't fully agree with this. Jericho was a star burried in WCW. He was a "midcarder" but he really wasn't. No midcader gets this kind of reaction on his debut yet that's what WCW had him booked as. So stupid on their part. When his name flashes on the screen here he gets a huge pop. WWF fans were pumped to have this guy. So on one hand I agree Vince was smart to push him, yet on the other had I think Jericho was an absolute sure thing.
And The Shield is the most exciting thing in wrestling next to Punk right now. And you have to give it to the guy, he's busting his old balls trying to get Ryback over. Damien Sandow as had some realy good matches. And Dirk Ziggler is going to be a huge star.
The whole NXT thing is working at building new talent, imo.
I agree with this though. The Shield actually has me watching now. Lesnar being back is a good thing. I'm starting to realy like Sheamus, CM Punk is cool but getting a little annoying. Cena still blows, cant stand Ryback, I've always disliked Kane's character but I like Daniel Bryan. Ziggler is a LOT better now that he's gottten rid of that annoying Vickie Guerrero. She's fucking awful and maybe the worst thing WWE has ever had. I literally turn the channel when she comes on but on the flip side there's something about AJ Lee that I really like. Her and Ziggler are a good fit. Of course Jericho is always good but they make him lose all the time so his character is a bit ruined. I mean he lost clean to Punk On RAW this week. Also what's stupid is having Wade Barrett lose clean to Orton. Wade Barret is the fucking IC Champ and they'rebooking him for clean losss to a guy who's not a belt holder and won't be winning Elimination Chamber.... it makes no sense. All they're doing is devalueing the IC belt.
Other than that I find there's a HUGE lack of interesting talent on the roster. they have a handful of it at most and say they don't seem to know what to do with it.
#103 Re: The Sunset Strip » JJ Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode VII » 674 weeks ago
That does sound really appealing and well thought out. The only thing would be missing is of course the legendary Sir Christopher Lee as Count Dooku, which I admit was another good acting choice; but highly underused within Episode 3. Killing him off in the first couple minutes of the film was bullshit. It was the whole thing with Return of the King in LOTR like what was the point of him being in the film in the first place and the waste of great talent.
See that's one thing Lucas got right in my opinion. I still think Dooku had a place and even with my altered scenario I'd not have taken Dooku out. I probably would have even expanded his character in Episode 2. I liked that Anakin killed him and early in Episode 3. It added to Anakin's character. He had to kill another Jedi/Sith along his way towards the darkside. 1. to show how strong he was growing and 2. by doing it the way he did when he knew full well it was against Jedi code so to speak it showed the darkside was in him and starting to take him. His transformation to Sith was ridiculous enough as it was with how quickly it happened. I mean in one scene he's threatening to kill Palpatine and then reports him to the jedi Council and in the very next scene he's full blown Sith Lord refering to Palpatine as master and willing to kill younglings and all the Jedi iclig Obi-Wan. So ridiculous. So had they not had the scene where he killed Dooku it would've been even worse. I actually like how he killed Dooku. No mercy shown. Absolutely Sith like. I hated however the way he pledged his alegiance to Palpatine so quickly after he watched him kill Windu.
As for Dooku's character again, I wasn't a big fan and I blame that all on Lucas. Shitty dialogue, terrible story line. I agree Christopher Lee was a great choice but sadly became a complete waste of talent like so many of he actors in the prequels.
And Battle Droids? Are you fucking kidding me? And the way they talked "Roger Roger" such cheap comedy added for little kids.
Ugh!
#104 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash has got the double neck back out » 674 weeks ago
I coudln't really hear Myles on that Civil War which for me might be a goo thing but holy shit does Slash rip man.
I know people have argued before that this is bullshit but the tone/vibe/feel whatever you want to call it, tat Slash plays with i exactly what's missing from Guns N' Roses. When I hear Slash play even in that Serial Killer clip I hear Guns N' Roses yet when I listen to Guns N' Roses 2.0 (or is it 3.0 now?) no matter how good the guys are I just don't hear Guns N' Roses.
Can't explain it. Slash's playing is made to go with Axl's voice and vice versa. That's all really and when one is missing from the other it's such a glaring omission for me it's hard to get past it. It's like cereal without milk. I love me some Corn Pops but when there's no milk it's pretty hard to appreciate them the same way
#105 Re: Guns N' Roses » Happy 51st Birthday Axl Rose » 674 weeks ago
It's his birthday so I'll be nice.
There has never been a person on the planet as badass as Axl Rose was at 3:17-3:20 of this video. I can't be 100% sure but I think at that moment Slash is thinking "Fuck yeah we've got the most badass fucker ever as our singer". Nobody ever rocked a purple leather jacket the way Axl did in this video. I always wanted that jacket.
#106 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Top 10 GN’R Songs by Ultimate Classic Rock » 674 weeks ago
I don't disgaree with anyone who says it's an amazing song. You could make an argument it's top 5 in my opinion based on vocal performance and Slash's solo. I guess I just don't understand describin such a song as "beautiful" is all.
I see a lot of excusing making for Axl on this. Stuff like oh that's just Axl and he's being honest and he was a redneck first and all that junk. I get that but fuck all that noise. He knew exactly what he was saying and he knew exactly what the reaction would be. You can't say you admire him for being honest when we all know full well had it been say Jon Bon Jovi or Bono or Steven Tyler or whoever, the same people admiring Axl for being honest would rip other artists to shreds for being a racist douchebag. Axl's ignorance, if that' what were using to justfy this, is NOT an excuse and doesn't make it acceptable or admirable no matter how honest. The lyrics are pretty disgusting. Honest? Maybe but that doesn't mak them admireable. You can be just as honest without coming off like an inbred, redneck racist, biggot. Ya know what I mean? That's why I have a hardtime associating the word Beautiful with this song that's all.
Apart from its brilliant musical parts it's also honest. He probably knows he's not allowed to say it, but he goes ahead and does it anyway because that's how he feels. There's no political statement here, just a bold and unique outburst of emotion and you can feel it in the words.
So when he says "Police and niggers.... THAT'S RIGHT!" and "Immigrants and faggots" with such venom and hate you would describe that as beautiful because you can feel the emotion(which is hate by the way) in the words? That's my only hang up here. Your word of choice to describe it; I just can't wrap my head around that.
No big deal

What should've happend to Darth Maul and it was obvious to me from the moment they prematurely killed him off, is that Anakin should've been the one to kill him in Episode 3.
Episode 1: The ending should've just had Maul looming over Obi-Wan for a bit the way he was, yes kick Obi-Wan's lightsaber down the hole but eventually Maul should've just left. Obi-Wan's amazing escape from dangling there should've been excuted in a more realistic way and done so after Maul had left.
Episode 2: Should've had another stalemate lightsaber duel between Obi-Wan and Maul. Anakin at this point should not have had any real run ins with Maul. Would make it more real when Anakin meets him later and doesn't really trust him but doesn't really know him or his true motives
Episode 3: The scene when Mace Windu and the Jedi Masters go to arrest Palpatine should've been Mace and Anakin only. When they arrive Darth Maul should've been there with Palpatine. A 2 on 2 lightsaber battle should've ensued. They should've had some emotional dialogue going on with Palpatine manipulating an confusing Anakin. Anakin should've then saved Palpatine as Mace was about to kill him and in the confusion Darth Maul should've killed Mace. At this point Anakin should've been more confused than anything but now looking to Palpatne more then ever for guidence.... end scene or whatever...
Then the tension and distrust should've obviously built between Anakin and Maul to the point where Maul advises Palpatine to get rid of Anakin because he can't be trusted. This enrages Anakin and in an attempt to win the favour of Palpatine Anakin should've attacked Maul in a fit of rage and defeat him thus completeing his journey to the dark side. As for Palpatine's "scaring" due to his lightning bolts being reflected back off Mace Windu's lightsaber... fuck that bullshit. Palpatine should've been scared but not to Frakenstien levels, during his fight with Yoda which shoud've been in a completely different setting then it was and without Yoda using a lightsaber. Yoda's powers should've been strictly force driven. Also the fact both of them were throwing those pods at eah other was just stupid.
That's how I'd have done it. Would've been ten times cooler.

OIAM is an honest look at life from a red neck from Indiana moving to the city. Doesn't mean he hates blacks, just how he was raised. I don't agree with it, but in 1984 or 85, that is probably what he was actually thinking, so I respect his "realness" and "honesty". Musically it is awesome. Great guitar solo.
Oh well that makes more sense. I was unaware of what the song was about. So much more beautiful now.
Axl is a smart guy right? At least that's what everyone likes to suggest. I don't care where he's from or where he moved to or how honest he's being. Fact is the words he used and message he conveyed were that of a racist biggot even if he's not.
There's honesty and there's being a fucking douche and in this particular song Axl chose to use lyrics that made him sound like fucking douche regardless of honesty. The same message could've been conveyed with more intelligent lyrics which Axl is/was capable of. That's the sad part about it. The song coudl've been a massive hit had he pulled his head out of his ass and been just as honest with a tad less biggotry and racisim involved.
I just don't understand how one could describe a song with lyrical content that borders on, if not is, hate speech as beautiful. It's pretty much as ugly as it gets despite the amazing vocal performance and effort by the band.
#109 Re: The Sunset Strip » JJ Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode VII » 674 weeks ago
and even 1 since Darth Maul comes back. Both 1 & 2 already had a ton of holes in their scripts already.
Oh fuck. The very fact Darth Maul died in Phantom Menace was so beyond stupid. Proof right there that Georges Lucas had lost his fucking mind. Darth Maul had the high ground did he not
Fuck I could shit all over the prequels all day long. Literally 3 of the worst movies of all time.

One In A Million - Just a beautiful song.

I understand why people love this song. The performances vocally and musically kick ass but I really question the word "beautiful" to describe the song especially when you leave it just at that. You gave reasons for the other songs, yet the most controversial song in their catelogue, one that borders on hate speech and you simply refer to it as "Just a beautiful song"? I must be missing something but to me a "beautiful song" should be beautiful "inside and out". The "inside" of this song is anything but beautiful. In fact it's rather ugly.
