#1101 Re: The Sunset Strip » 4 (probably 3) Monster albums of 2008 » 922 weeks ago

I'd so love to see AC/DC bow out with an absolute rocker of an album and tour. They deserve it, their contribution to rock n' roll is awesome.

As for Metallica, I know this probably wouldn't be popular, but I'd prefer either a really raw album (aka Kill em All or Ride the Lightning) or a modern version of And Justice For All. They've done their rock bit on Load and Unload.

I'm looking forward to the new Opeth Album too.

I completed the sentence for you.

I believe that about Tommy. The rest (at least to me) look like they're there because they enjoy what they're doing.

I think Ron treats it as a professional gig

Frank's living the dream

Robin probably has had quite a lot of creative input invested (which he didn't get from NIN)

Tommy sees it as a way to fund his other ambitions

Not sure about Dizzy or Chris really.

But they all probably think if this fucker gets moving they could all be big stars overnight, and getting jobs with other bands or making it alone would be more difficult.

What is sad, is that this is now 2008. I remember back in early 2006 when all the leaks begun, and then we got the MSG shows, I just knew that CD was right around the corner. I would have never dreamt that two years later we would still be wondering when we will see the record... And to take it another step back, think back to the 2002 tour. Could you have imagined, SIX years later we would still be waiting? Wow, we are some devoted fuckers!

It's crazy when you take a step back and think about that stuff ain't it??

Devoted or insane? lol.

Deluded.

Axl's insane

Rest of band devoted

Fingers crossed. Again.

Anyone think that Axl will speak up before the anniversary of the last 'tentative' date?

I bet time will run out before Chinese Democracy gets released.

Classic rock is where nostolgia acts belong.  They are in the right place.

Thats not strictly true although the main focus seems to be on the older acts. T I have learnt about many 'new' and currently active bands from CR.

Suprised they didn't review Sebastian Bach's album though.

#1107 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Some more interesting points in Slash's book that I never knew about » 925 weeks ago

Right or wrong, I enjoyed the book.

He's quite complimentary about some facets of Axl's personality at some points, although I think as time went by he lost any respect he had.

I found it interesting that Slash said he would have stuck through an industrial album with Axl if there had been the right creative vibe.

Actually I plan on taking off from work the day it's released. Seriously. Anyone else??

I was all set to in '06 when the tours started. I thought that was going to be the year.

Yup.

I promised I'd buy a new stereo system in preparation and then spend the day drinking getting high and disecting cd with some of my other nutty GNR friends!

#1109 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy - will you or won't you » 925 weeks ago

Absolutely. Sooner rather than later hopefully. But I can't promise I won't download any more leaks as I don't have confidence it will be released yet.

I truly believe if GNR make a special effort to package the product well, ensure the consumer gets good value for money (i'm thinking standard and deluxe versions of the album), ensure that the cd is easily accessible, build up the release and then promote the fuck out of it (that includes interviews by the way Axl) they will have a good chance of attaining reasonable sales figures. Of course it will be heavily downloaded but there are still a good proportion of people out there in their target market(s) who would relish the chance to buy a cd.

But I'm only speaking as one type of consumer who still likes to buy cds and is a big fan of GNR
