Not neccesserly. They could have begun the thing, but haven't updated the fans. Would not be a surprise. What makes me a bit worried that a leak should happen soon if the production began. Seems like they're not in that stage yet.
If you wanna keep your head in the sand that's your choice man. From what I understood in Axl's letter was that the release date would be announced 8 weeks before to get proper promotion. We are at that stage for the Nov 25th date man. Plain and simple. Someone posted all the promo he thought happened. SR in RB 2 wasn't promo. I'm not even sure RB2 even uses SR as promo. That tanked as much as OMG in End of Days. I ain't saying SR is worst as OMG. Just it got less promo than OMG. Take the ACDC deal with Wal-Mart. It was announced OFFICIALLY (not rumoured) well in advance so that people knew an album was coming and where to buy it. Just because it's GNR it's not gonna be different. And don't tell me everyone knows it's coming. An album that's been over 10 years in the making, you don't know it's coming. You just assume it'll never see the liht of day. Personally I knew when we didn't get a statement the day after RB2 was released that some were heading for disappointment. After this Friday I don't believe the release date will be Nov 25th 2008 if we didn't get a statement from GNR or UNI or BB. After that wether we like it or not only 3 weeks left before Christmas. So within 3 weeks if we do not get a statement no album in 08. I don't like it either but that's the way it is.

I can see why people complain about this, and why people defend it. Personally I think it's wrong because I do not see Ron as a part of GNR. And it's not his fault. Somebody else is making sure we see everyone in that band except him as non relevant and not GNR. To me Ron happens to play in a tribute band that has the original singer of of the band that is being paid hommage. That's the problem. But nice of him to jam with those guys.

The last 2 pages were pointlless. Can't remember who said this, but someone said that even if the old band got back together they couldn't touch SCOM, JUngle and all. Amen! And the new band can't either. And that is normal. Anyone who expects CD to be better than AFD or even the UYI albums are only gonna be disappointed. Just settle for a good different record. That's it! Would CD be better if Slah was on it? If you're smart you'd bet no way. Nothing agaisnt Slash but the music in CD is what it is. Even if you had Jimi Hendrix on that record it would not be better or worst.

James is right. We're past the point of no return. The train is moving, and ala Back To The Future Part III, we either make it work, or the train goes plummeting into the ravine.
If the album is not released, I have no doubt it'll leak. People keep saying "the deal is not finalized", which it very well may not be, but understand, for Gould to be walking around with tracks, Rock Band 2 gets a new track, Body Of Lies gets a new track, and CD shit is all over the place - UNIVERSAL HAS THE ALBUM.
This WILL NOT be a situation of Axl pulling up stakes and leaving. The wheels are already in motion, and the album has been delivered.
This is BEYOND obvious at this point. These kind of negotiations and presentations and soundtracks would not be going on right now if UMG hadn't had the album in their hands for awhile now.
Like James said - we're past the point of no return.
Normally I would agree with you and James. But this is Axl. If we are to hear this album this year I tend to believe it'll be via leaks. Hope I am wrong though. All we have to do is wait now. If the deal is done we are only 2 months away.

hopefully there is more new material yet to be heard.. but its coming.. fuck the ny times.
I believe them. If the deal is not done then the album may not come out this year. We're not getting the signal to steal homebase just yet.

I would have never seen Big Daddy if the new Sweet Child wasn't played during the credits.
Wow. I wouldn't watch a movie just to hear a song. But that's me. Well Body of lies may have a few mor movie goers when it opens than they would've had before this announcement.

Come on man! You're really gonna go see a movie just to hear a song we've already heard? Wow! I'm gonna wait to be able to buy the song and I'll see that movie on dvd. The movie interested me before I knew about ITW but not enough to see it in theatres. I guess you won't be the only one though. Let us know if it is any good.

We've already heard 10 of the songs, so we know what this album represents. The traditional Single flow is rocker, ballad and rocker. There are 5 songs we haven't heard yet (that we know of) so who knows what the other 33% of the album may be, but there is a tone that has been set in the leaks and it's reasonable to expect the remaining songs to follow. Personally I hope they stay away from the SR's and If The World type vibe and stay more towards, TWAT, Better and The Blues. If this album represents a ballad, then go with TWAT because that song will knock the socks off people.
TWAT would've been an excellent choice.

While it is a logical choice because If the world is very radio friendly, it's a bad choice as well as the song is very mediocre at best. Just my opinion though.
