Only thing thats going to stop the Pats going undefeated is the Colts or Brady getting injured.

A friend of mine recently used the phrase  "The way the Patriots are playing, I think they're going to win their bye week"

The only reason they might not go undefeated would be because they'll have homefield throughout wrapped up by week 12 or so the way they're playing.  They could just put Brady and Moss and whoever else in for a quarter to keep the rust off, then take them out to avoid injury.

There's no chance that this album lives up to this review.  None.  There's no chance that an 80s singer that couldn't write lyrics comes back and has some fantastic album 20 years later.  Axl on there is a publicity stunt and should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of the material.

Axl wouldn't be on it in the first place if it wasn't of an extreme.y high standard...The time he is taking over chinese democracy is proof of his high standards...He would hardly lend a LEAD vocal to this alum unless it met his high standards

I would say it's more likely Axl is just helping out his friend.  I would agree with you that he probably picked the strongest songs on the album to put his vocals on, but wasn't the story that Baz made a joke about Axl being on the album and Axl said, Yeah, when and where.

That says to me he agreed to be on it without even hearing anything, just as a favor to someone who has been willing to kiss his ass for a long time.

It's a double edged sword.  A friend of mine's wife is a seventh grade teacher.  She'd had, I think, around five pregnant students, and that was at least a year ago we had that discussion.

They're obviously doing it, so giving them rubbers isn't going to do anything but help.

dont forget gilby....he was on TSI, and he has become a producer these days...and the whole supernova gig....who knows how much they got for that one, and his touring stints with heart and whoever else.....

i'm sure hes doin pretty good as well, he seems pretty smart as well so he may have invested in good places. this is all speculation really of course, Matt is another one, we cant forget his days from the Cult which i'm sure he gets royalties from still

I saw an interview with Gilby somewhere where he says that his wife made more in the fashion industry in 2 or 3 years than he made in 15 years as a musician.

For anybody that doesn't know, Gilby's wife is the inventor (inventor?, designer maybe, I don't really know how to put it)  of Frankie B jeans.  Which, as I understand it, were the forerunner of the lowrider jeans.

I would have to echo pretty much everything that was already said.

If you haven't heard Book of Shadows, go try to find it now.

Pride&Glory used the word amazing, but I don't know if that even goes far enough to say how good it is.

A lot of his views fit in really well with the Liberterian Party.  Which(if I'm not mistaken) was the independent party that got the most votes in 2004.

If you boil the Libertarian philosophy down to one statement it would be, Fiscally conservative but Socially Liberal.

I (and I think quite a few others) think that would be a pretty good home for him.

I would vote for Dr. Paul in a second, but I don't expect him to be able to get a Republican Party nomination.  I'd love to be proved wrong though.

I really think it's about the old band.

To me, the lyrics and the quotes both point toward it.

Like, "Forgive them that tear down my soul.  Bless them that they might grow old.  And free them so that they may know. That it's never, too late."

Also one of the MLK quotes I think really says sometin'. "He promised never to leave me alone. No, never alone, no never alone."

And another one that caught my ear. "All men betray, all lose heart."

But yeah, I dunno anything more from the rest of you so agree to disagree, whatever.

Sometimes I wish Axl would elaborate on lyrics such as these in concert. There's alot of GNR material that's pretty straightforward, but for the material that's not, I'd like to get some insight straight from the source.

I get what you mean, but I think the opposite.  That's what's cool about song lyrics/poetry of any sort.  It's open to interpretation.  I think what everyone has said in the discussion is true to one point or another.  Songs aren't like books or stories where they specifically have a beginning and an end and so on, so a number of different things that bring out similiar emotions can be part of one song.
