So someone on MyGNR is getting GN’R results when searching “se7en” but gets none when they search “seven”.

As far as I know that song has never been mentioned in relation to GNR with that spelling before. I also doubt if multiple users searching for it, would search it with that stylised misspelling.

Never seen those before. Got to imagine those also exist for other tracks including Absurd, Hard Skool & Move to the City (Acoustic).

Looks like it's Brain between Frank and Melissa in the soundcheck video. My guess is that they have kept his drum track on the studio version (obviously from a later version than the one on the Village discs, if it's Oklahoma) so he's been there to help them with the live arrangement (basically to show Frank how to play it). That is probably necessary as it's a more complex song than Absurd.

I would have thought a professional drummer should be able to pick up a gnr song. Not exactly difficult drumming

Agreed, Frank will have known these songs since he contributed parts to CD in 2007/2008 and any recording sessions since then. He's drummed professionally since 1988. Pretty sure he can learn the songs himself. Don't need Brain for that.

Hello all.

So I wanted to provided some sort of update/information to this whole Spotify situation. I reached out to a contact of mine who is a higher up at Spotify (mods you can check with me via PM to confirm. I don’t want to post personal info of someone else for everyone to see). I was told that Spotify receives song(s) information directly from labels before releases are announced. The reason being if someone tries to leak a song or an album the computer system will recognize the songs and block them from being uploaded by third parties. This kinda gives weight to all of these song titles showing up in searches being done by forum members. I also found out that yes, they know what albums/songs are going to be released and when way ahead of time. I’m working on trying to get more specific information relating to Guns but we will see if that materializes.

In a nutshell, this info somehow does point to something possibly happening regarding either a new album or new songs being released, at least that’s the consensus I received after getting this information.

Ok, am I playing myself by thinking that sounds like it could be a highly highly reworked State of Grace?

The reunion show at the Troubador was almost released in some form, they had a production company work on it and everything but it didn't happen for whatever reason. I think they had a falling out with the production company in fact.

Maybe that will see the light of day eventually when they all retire from active touring.

Bands like U2, Metallica,,etc go years between albums but fans actually get various releases on a regular basis. It's why their fan bases aren't jaded to the extent of GNR's.

It's not even just getting various releases and extras on a regular basis. They also don't bullshit their fans all the time.

They don't talk about songs, new albums, "the second half" or "second part of their trilogy" for a decade plus. They get asked questions like "Hey what about a new record?" and either say "Yeah, working on that" or "Not right now, not at the moment, haven't started thinking about that yet". And when they do say they're working on it, that usually means it's anywhere from weeks to max 3 years away, and they deliver it.

GN'R is the only band I know that blue balls their fanbase like this. If any of those bands you mentioned had said what Slash said earlier this year about new songs this June/July and it didn't happen, then one member would have popped up in an interview by now, been asked about it, and given an update. Not GN'R though. Just a silent PR machine that says nothing now.

I'll say this for the CD years, it was at least exciting to read things about what was happening and get occasional updates from members even if it didn't pan out. The near total silence approach that now happens is worse. It's almost like 03-04 era but at least then there was still reports about what was happening and occasional interviews with folk who had worked on the record.

The vibe of the GNR community is reminding me of 2005 but on a smaller scale...

The fan base is simply starved for anything ....and the hardcores are at the point where concerts or live releases don't cut the mustard.

Much smaller scale, the anticipation for CD still had some life in it, the current anticipation... so many have lost interest. I got into the band in 04 and on to the forums in mid-late 05. Mood then was gloomy AF. The leaks in early 06 and Axl resurfacing at things like that Korn party really gave the community a boost.

This time, the band is active but the online community is just bored at this stage. Some fans excuse the band and cite artists who also haven't released music in forever and just tour but the difference is those bands haven't dangled the carrot of new music for years. This band began dangling that carrot again right after CD was released via Axl's forum chats. It's now 14 years later.

On the 23rd November 1993 they released TSI and then 15 years later to the exact day, they released CD. In that gap, they also got two singles out in Sympathy for the Devil and Oh my God.

We're now approaching 14 years since CD. In that time they've managed two singles of new material, not counting the singles from the AFD box. And in that 14 years they've been more silent than ever and the leaks of new songs with vocals that quench some of that fan thirst haven't been anywhere near the scale of what happened from 06-08.

No wonder the vibe is how it is.

Agreed, I don't really hear any of that. If I was being generous, maybe a heavily reworked section from Circus Maximus but truthfully I don't hear it.

Could be a spontaneous jam, or maybe it's something they're working on. Who knows.

This shows how out of the loop I am....

I still thought this song was unreleased. My memories of Ballad of Death is fans begging hoarders to leak it years ago.

If it's released then yeah....it doesn't mean anything.

Yeah, whilst it's not on the official tracklist, it is performed on the A4D Live CD/DVD release. Why Bumblefoot's songs from that release don't yield that result? Perhaps because they've formally being released solo by him whereas Ashba's creation is probably just a credit on a GN'R release.

I still haven't heard anyone come up with a convincing suggestion for why these search results for unreleased GN'R song titles would associate with GN'R in Spotify's system apart from ones which if true would cause all sorts of shit to appear for a variety of artists.

Only convincing explanation to my mind is these tracks are registered in Spotify's system or a record label system that they connect with and that's where the link is. Does that mean they're definitely getting released? Of course not, it's GN'R.
