Fields isn't long for CHI. If they bottom out and get the first pick, it'll be some USC QB who is supposedly a "generational" QB. Everyone's racing to the bottom for that guy. Bears are one of the few winless teams.
If you're a Bears fan, cheer for them to lose every game or almost every one. The coaching staff and Fields will be flushed and the GM shold be too.

Doherty's problems were that she was really difficult to deal with.
LA Confidential: seen this one a few times. First off, great adaptation from the novel. I've never realized how great some of the acting was in this film. I totally missed how Cromwell nails the role of Dudley Smith. Ditto Spacey (even though it's not popular now) as the glory hound cop , Jack Vincennes. Heck, I even missed how great Russell Crowe was here as Bud White. When you rewatch stuff you end up having different favorite characters. The kicker is that one of the least interesting acting roles--Kim Basinger--ends up winning an Oscar for best supporting actress. Go figure.
Rosemary's Baby. I'm conflicted on this. I was bored in parts of this and really liked some of the set pieces. It's not really a horror thriller. It's a psychological thriller with a message on female independence/feminism. There's nothing wrong with this film, other than it was too long and there were a bunch of dead spots.

Hadn't exactly thought of it this way before but the post CD song releases...Absurd, Hard School, and Perhaps...are not as good as the songs from CD. If we split hairs, better than Scraped and Shackler I suppose. Not really album worthy though...good album worthy anyways.
Remember his 2002 comment about the album potentially being 18 tracks and 10 B sides? These three recent releases would belong in that group of 10.
Slightly OT, but which CD songs (include any version you want) would qualify as being worthy of being on a good album? I got maybe 6-7 songs. I might stick Perhaps into that group but that's it. I've never really cared for Absurd and Hard School is a b side.

I really love Shelly Long now. I wish she had done more movies at that time instead of striking gold with Cheers...which I've always hated.
I've brought this up before but it trips me out how various actresses back in the day I didn't pay much attention to because they were older I now like since they're younger.

Long's problem is she was in the wrong decade. If she leaves Cheers in the 90s, she probably has a bigger career. TV actors/actresses leaving shows to pursue movies was more accepted in the 90s. And she would have had more movie roles to pick from, just in terms of the 90s landscape. She could have probably had a hit or two playing a neurotic/off kilter female. This is just a really long way of saying the 90s were a bit creative than the 80s.
On that last point, yeah that's one of the benefits (or perils) of growing old, depending on your perspective.

While the Stones do have some killer albums obviously...and this is sacrilege to some...I consider them more of a singles/songs band. The huge amount of compilations does them no favors in this regard. You essentially grow up on comps of different eras and then dive into the albums.
This is true, for me anyway. Those comps are fine for me, especially Hot Rocks (I think that the name of the compilation). The only Stones album I can make it all the way through is Sticky Fingers.
I hate that album. I should probably give it another listen. It's basically an album of deep cuts.
It's also got that Illusions-ish problem of being too fucking long. I should give side 2 a listen. But I usually tap out after Happy. And that's only the tenth song. But it does include some of my faves like Rocks Off, Happy, Tumbling Dice, and Sweet Virginia (you can tell the Jagger is doped out on this song).

I'll be honest I have no expectations for this song. I don't mean this negatively. But it's just a song. So I won't go apeshit if it's grand, bad or somewhere in between.
If it lives up to the hype, I'll be a bit sad that they didn't release it sooner or Axl wasted a bunch of his years not releasing music.

Night Shift - This is going to be one of my "regulars" that I watch a couple times a year til the end of the line. This deserved to be a hit.
Is this the early 80s film w/Micheal Keaton and Shelly Long (I think) as workers at a morgue? I have to rewatch that it's been maybe 10 years since I've seen it.
Charley Varrick--a 70s classic. This is one of the few non Clint, Don Siegel films. I think it improves upon every viewing for me. Hits multiple notes as a crime film. Also perfectly plotted, in the sense that the information /plot points that you are given don't go to waste. Also a great look at small town/rural Americana. I don't know why but 70s films were always great at this. Speaking of "regular" films, watching something once or more a year you pick up on stuff /appreciate characters more, in this film it's the Sheree North character. It's a minor role but there's a certain MILF hotness to her as well as the fact that she knew the score and played both sides (slight spoiler...she works as kind of a producer of fake passports).

The hustle band strikes again.
This is the appropriate answer. If you're a hardcore fan, you've probably already ordered Perhaps and Appetite on Vinyl anyway. Really it's not even a product that was neccesary. Just a cash grab.

I even started wondering this in my youth when it became obvious he was more bark than bite...why doesn't anyone call his bluff?
I'm not sure Slash could do it. He doesn't seem like a fighter. Duff or Matt could've handled him.
I also agree it would've changed the dynamics completely. One ass kicking would've put a stop to constantly walking on egg shells around him.
The one guy that could have done it and had cred with both factions would have been Izzy. Axl wouldn't have pulled off all of that 90s bullshit if Izzy had set him straight. Maybe Adler but he was too fucked up on drugs. And Izzy just didn't give a fuck say past 1989 or 90 for his own reasons.
By the time Matt tried it , it was too late and he was still more or less a hired gun even though he had been with the band for years.
Great RS article by the way. I'm not a fan but Lady Gaga seems like an interesting person to hang around with.
The other two guys (Slash and Duff) were always kind of passive aggressive and in the case of Duff "spineless".

Tomorrow night in Tennessee is maybe 60% sold. If that.
https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1B005E508923260D
They are nuts to be sticking to $395 for G.A. Cut the prices and fill the pit.
Perhaps the only good thing to say is that the ticket scalpers are not going to win this time. Verified Resale seats are listed for more than available seats located in rows closer to the stage.
It's the same deal w/the Hollywood, FL show. Prices are lower at $350. But barely anything got sold, and it's not 60% like TN. Yikes. It's pretty bad, two days out from the show.
