What's to stop them from releasing an album now?   If you assume they can release 2 more CD reheated leftover tracks.  That makes 6 and you can basically pad it out with whatever fucking live version of whatever classic songs you want.  Basically Lies in the 21st century.

That's kind of all I wanted from them is to release enough songs over time that the fans can put together an album themselves if they wish to do it. We now have 4 singles (14 minutes of music) released from 2018 to now, apparently with a 5th song on the way in The General. We are creeping up on a 8-song collection that could be labeled an album.

Eh, I'd kinda rather they just purged the vault and then got on with recording a new album. These songs are always going to be a bit awkward – Slash and Duff overdubs recorded during lockdown, on songs they're less emotionally invested in because they weren't there for the original writing process. Slash trying to wrestle Buckethead and Finck riffs and licks into his own style.

Also if you bundle these tracks together with a couple more to pad them out as an album, you end up with a collection of stuff that people have mostly heard, with one or two "new tracks" (which are based on demos we've already heard).

So, clear the decks with a bunch of individual Chinese leftovers, and then get into the studio to record some new stuff. I want to hear what Fortus and Slash come up with when they jam together, the organic process of creation. I want to hear lyrics from Axl that comment on the state of the world today (Christ knows, there's enough material to work with there), not his relationship woes from the late '90s. They literally have seven songwriters in this band (I'm pretty sure every single member has writing credits, right?) – use that resource.

I like the video, didn't see that coming at all

The video's great. This is basically what the Better video was originally intended to be – a nice showcase of all the members of the band, including Fortus, Dizzy, Melissa and Frank. Clever use of the soundcheck footage to get around the problem you often have with these "live footage of a song they haven't played yet" thing – the band are actually seen singing the correct lyrics.

To add to that - Slash has said concretely he wants to do a new record and one of their tech's reiterated just weeks ago that was the plan after the tour because they have the songs ready.

Actual new songs? As in, they're going to go into a studio and record new material like a normal band?

Also I like the artwork, it feels like a throwback to the well-designed stuff from the UYI days.

I wish they'd do something with Thyme. Though I love it as it is, it'd work really well as part of a film score.

The 24khz flac is out. This is probably the best of the three reheated Chinese leftovers so far IMO. Brain's drums smoke the demo.

PM, anyone?

Anyway could they release the fucking thing now? I've heard snippets on Twitter and TikTok and whatnot, I'd quite like to, y'know, have it on my phone.

Nice to finally find out what he's singing during the screamy bit of the chorus:

I just looked her up...was gonna check the film she did before this (Cruel Intentions). How in the fuck is she worth 400 million?!? I see she became a producer in the 2010s...I assume a lot of it is from that. I know she was popular in the 2000s obviously...but that's like Jodie Foster- Julia Roberts level.

Cruel Intentions was watched many times in my house as a young horny teenager 16 I'm tempted to go watch it again now lol.

I'm not surprised Reese is worth $400m to be honest, though not sure how accurate these internet "net worth" posts actually are? I can think of plenty of big movies she's been in without even needing to Google it - #1 being Legally Blonde (and its sequels), Sweet Home Alabama, Walk The Line, Little Nicky, obv Cruel Intentions and Election too. I seem to remember she was also a guest on Friends as well? I think she's a decent actress, enjoyed just about everything I've seen her in tbh smile

Latest movie I watched was "Underwater". I watched it once before and enjoyed it so thought I'd give it another watch. Has that "Alien" vibe y'know? Kristen Stewart even looks like Ripley in Alien 3 with the shaved hair. Wouldn't surprise me if she's worth $400m too, she's been in tons of movies and again I seem to recall enjoying the majority of them.

It's likely not $400m just from acting; that kind of money typically comes from producing and investments. Another actress who's made bank outside of her acting career is Jessica Alba, thanks to her beauty company. Stewart (and Pattinson) are both pretty comfy thanks to Twilight, IIRC.

Then when you get to the 2000s you would get the piano +tobias formed CD songs along with contraband era rockers from slash.

Or if they'd had a mild fight for a shorter time, I think a 2005 reunion album would have included a lot of the Slash solo material like Ghost, Back From Cali etc.

The reality we live in is kinda messed up.

It hurts me sometimes to think we could have had 1990s slash on This I love and There was a time - which are probably some of Axl's best works ever, and we could have had  2006 era Axl on stuff like Wicked Stone and Anastasia.

I know Slash plays them these days, but he's playing a cover of the existing solos, I want to know what he would have composed for it. Imagine the outro to Anastasia Sydney 2010 with Axl....

As bad obsession would say, "Too bad you're fucked up" 10

2005/6 would've been an incredibly awkward time for a reunion. I mean, on the one hand you'd have Axl on 2006 peak form and Slash with his post-VR technical skills. On the other there's the massive Sword of Damocles that is Chinese Democracy hanging over proceedings. The record company would've wanted it re-recorded with Slash and Duff. Axl would've wanted to honour Buckethead and Finck's contributions. The whole mess would probably have resulted in the album being delayed again.

So yeah, we can fantasise about a world where we get a Chinese Democracy album fleshed out with tracks like By The Sword and Ghost, but the reality would probably have just been a five-year delay.
