WE will likely get Shackler

By the way, not to be a perpetual pessimist in this thread, but if a 'plan #B' happens/has happened, and copies of the game without 'Shackler' are being circulated, as darknemus has already confirmed, we might not even get that as soon as he was saying; but, unless the clean-up by the camp was truly exceptional, we could get it a little later, in a situation similar to the 'Better' February 2007 leak, as peeps have already confirmed they heard it....

James Lofton wrote:

Thats a bit doom and gloom. WE will likely get Shackler, I'm just saying that people shouldn't be shocked if there's a plan B that involves rehash.

I just don't see this as some innovative marketing. Axl and GNR aren't even talking and we're a month away. Its amateurish, and I'm surprised Azoff is even allowing this to go on.

I see what you mean, but, at this stage, sooo *close* to release of this major project/song the surrounding circumstances of this thing seem to me to defy all logic.  We don't know if this song's about pirates or Stephanie.

James Lofton wrote:

I know I've said this a hundred times, but if Axl or anyone associated with GNR want anything new GNR related to be taken seriously, its time to drop this lame mystery crap and treat it like its a real  song/album. There is no mystery anymore so trying to act like there is just makes it look like they are spoofing themselves.

The mystery for me still stands a *bit*.  It's just the 'buzz' that they repeatedly kill, destroying the odd 'peaks' of interest in this album that have occurred throughout the year (proving interest and mystique are still alive around this project for me); but that being said, I am sure they do have a *big* plan up their sleeve(s).  They are dealing with Irving Azoff, and they are do have a major release in plan with Harmonix this time.

(But this is GN'R, right...?)

If what MSL was saying about the two new songs ('If The World' and 'song 2') not being on the first album it definitely keeps the mystery alive, while giving us a clue of the second/later....

Sounds like Mister Magoo may once again have hijacked this train.

If Mister Magoo may have again hijacked this train, doesn't the 'warning signs' (at this stage, as I have listed above) say anything?

We went into silence, just like after the HD ad was taken down.  JMHO.

(Nonetheless, I expect to be wrong to *some* extent - just a question of how much?:/

I just think this 'plan' defies too much logic/recent history for someone not to sneeze violently along the way....)

#113 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses launching iTunes promotion: 'Ides of March' hint? » 881 weeks ago

The only way its being treated differently is Axl is giving zero info about the track, and I don't consider that much of a good thing. Hard to promote a song when the composer of it doesn't give two shits and the singer isn't interested in talking either.

For a game/comeback song of this significance, it defies logic.  In a month or so, most guys (and gals) are gonna be rocking out to a new GN'R song on their consoles in their living room (alongside older (and some contemporary) songs of more considerable fame), that now more-or-less under a month before no one (in the general public, not all affiliated with the VG and song 'release') has heard.  Give me a break.

I truly expect, like the HD experience, 'Paradise City' or 'Jungle' to be the song they play to on September 14.  Anybody on here who ordered this thing in advance may want to monitor this situation very closely from now in, I guess....

By the looks of things, Axl won't even attach his name to that rereleased 1987 AFD (another nail in the reunion coffin by the way).  Thus, (him not doing the same to) a new project of this 'magnitude' is no surprise to me IMHO.

Jorge76 - yeah, it is kinda... 'ponderous' to figure it out.  Just use the 'Search Music Store' function at the top.

That takes you to a page with a long paragraph, the Chinese Democracy reference is just the last sentence of that paragraph.

You definitely got the same page open I have.

got a link? i dont see that when i search for gnr hmm

Not to hand.  I don't use iTunes very much.  It's in the 'Music Store' section under GN'R.

I was going to quote the full article but can't - but it is on there.  I have it open right now.

By the way: I don't know if anyone caught it, but apparently a German uncensored LP of the original AFD is to be rereleased on September 9.  Apparently it's slightly 'remastered' or something:

Answer:

On itunes, yes.

Edit: The first time this has appeared on itunes.

It is only for the people who run and design it.

How many other people in the past 10 years have implied CD is on it's way when it's really not?  Of course CD is on it's way, it has been for a decade now.  They aren't saying anything GNR haven't told us before.

So... they can freely edit it - that is, a certain band/artist's page - freely of what the record company may say/contractual obligations/the reality of the situation (even though that's from not being the reality as far as GN'R are concerned), etc.?

Test # 1 Oh My God Test # 2, 3 & 4 Leaks.

You forgot 'Back In The Saddle' and the Sebastian Bach album.:haha:

Madagas is right: someone sneezes (as I think Mysteron himself once said?), and the whole thing is canceled/delayed again/whatever.  They shouldn't touch James Bland with a stick IMHO.  Maybe the upcoming Terminator Salvation trilogy with Bale (and believe me that is one franchise that couldn't hardly do with it right now).  Or maybe Peter Jackson's upcoming Tintin trilogy (which could seriously own) would be better?

Oops... wrong section.:haha:

Edit: Actually, speaking of Hollywood, the film industry does test major movies i.e. Narnia.  But this can often be when the studio has low (read into that what you will) confidence in the material.  What was it that producer who heard CD down the phone a few years ago said?  'Three good songs' (out of some, 13?)?:nervous:

No you don't.

Well, because I'm not that familiar with the day-to-day 'goings-on' behind iTunes, is it like Wikipedia, where just anybody can edit it?

I would have thought it was only for the admins, people who run the shop, that kind of thing...?

To imply a major CD release is imminent when it might not be, even with a long-running saga like CD (or maybe conversely unless it's CD (or one of those-type projects, i.e. until recently Smile)), would surely be breaching some sort of internal code or even (external) contractual code, would it not?  (Especially now the train seems to be *about* to depart the station - though this may have of course triggered the update, if optionally done, of course in the first place, if no contractual obligations were to be in place.:))

It's just a little blurb on iTunes stating that CD is closer than ever.  It's been closer than ever for the past 10 years.  16

Yep, but you need GN'R/mgt permission to put out even such an intriguing little 'blurb' on a medium as major as iTunes, IMHO.

This might get more viewers than 'View From the Side of the Stage'.

I've also thought that at the last minute they could always throw in Jungle instead and get away with it since the testers don't have the version with SR on it.

Or, as I said, just to prevent leaks (logical).  But certain planets are once again aligning in this dark corner of the universe....

Any guesses what will happen (on the forums) if the song is not on there?:nervous:

I'm not gonna get my panties in a bunch just yet. Been way too many false alarms over the years. It does look like we are seriously nearing the promised land, but I'm gonna need to see real action and not hints of action.

Yeah, all this 'songs on videogames' and now 'Ides of March' hints(?) on iTunes just seems to 'unusual' or 'unreal' after all these years of silence....  Like being in another dimension, or something.:haha:

dark said in the other thread, 'Videogame testers (or something?) have not got 'Shackler's Revenge' in their game demos.  This means, to me, that, while they might be doing it to prevent leaks, someone in the camp may have already got 'cold feet' and bottled out.

The fact that the song has not appeared yet leads me to believe this may already have happened.  Just years of being a 'jaded' GN'R fan I guess, but that's another story.

(A still unheard song with some one month to go on a VG full of very well-known songs many going back years + the history of this band just seems so irregular it seems like... I can't trust it....:o yikes)

Fakes of this nature have occurred before (remember the Photoshopped one from, surprise, surprise... CD.com), but this statement does seem, as I say below, very *GN'R-ish*.

Saikin wrote:

For all we know, they could have just updated it with all the news of a song being released on Rock Band.

To be clear, i don't think that Caesar quote has anything to do with the Ides of March.  I think whoever wrote that just thought that quote was fitting, and it kinda is.

100% agree with both your points; although someone at least *close* to the GN'R camp *usually* 'sanctions' these 'official releases/statements', but as we saw with Del James/other incidents, they *can* take it back.  The statement does seem very 'GN'R-ish' IMHO....

I doubt it means we have to wait to mid-March next year to hear the album BTW either... but who knows.:)
