any respect i held for metallica was lost as soon as i heard that.

I only heard the songs Metallica put on their site and can already tell it's a very good album.  Axl wrote some bad lyrics in his career too.  So fucking what?  If the music is good it compensates.  BTW I consider Axl one of the best lyrics writers ever before you think I said Axl sucks.  Metallica (read James Hetfield) usually writes awesome lyrics so one song I can forgive.  Death Magnetic could an album of the year contender.

Faldor.  don't give me that statement when I can redirect you to the statement Axl made of the tentative release date where he said we would be informed if the album was further delayed.  Axl has dug his own grave and now he must get out of it.

My only point is we don't know the half of it.  We know close to nothing.  We may think we know anything and everything about the situation.  We may think there's absolutely no reason why the album shouldn't be out by now, why we shouldn't have been informed on the progress or lack thereof, why we aren't given a rundown on Axl's daily routine through his own blog, why Axl doesn't babysit or house sit for the fans.  We really don't know what's going on or what has gone on behind the scenes.  You can speculate all you want and come to your own conclusions, but there are 2 sides to every story and I'm thinking those that are actually involved with the making of the album know the truth while the rest of us are just guessing.

That's all.

Faldor I can see you would defend Axl till we're all blue in the face and I can respect that.  But my point is don't say you will update the fans if the record is delayed if you don't plan on doing so.  If he can't update us then a simple 'We can't comment right now' would be nice.  And don't fucking lie even on MTV saying the albm will be out 'this year' and then nothing.  Axl has lied, has cried wolf so many times that now I will not believe him.  IF he ever decides to release the album.  Only way I'll believe it now is when I see it in a record store.  And since I don't have a Best Buy in my area then I won't see it.

I know that Oh My God has grown ALOT on me through the years and SR is alot like it to me.

Oh My God is a very good song.  Shows Axl evolving while still keeping a little bit of the old sound.  I've always liked it.  But your post proves that SR will be given the same treatment by Axl.  SR is not a bad song.  But it very far from the sound of GNR and not everybody will like that.  It's ok to evolve but getting too far away from your sound can hurt.  Personnally I like SR but I've played it to a friend who loved GNR and he hated the song because he says it doesn't sound like GNR.

Faldor it's not that I don't believe anything that Axl says.  Just that when it comes to CD or songs he recorded since 1998 like Oh my God I don't believe him anymore.  The guy has cried wolf way too many times for me to believe him.  It's your prerogative to believe him for the Oh my God being a demo.  But no movie company would put a demo on their soundtrack.  Plus OMG doesn't sound like a demo.  So I ain't buying the horse manure that Axl tried to sell.  But that is my prerogative as well.  *lol*

But a justification for stealing it?  That's something different.

Like I said in my previous post.  If I decide not to buy the album I won't download it either.  I never download.  Only songs I downloaded were the leaks cause I still firmly believe it is the only way we'll ever hear new material from Axl.  If I could've bought the songs I would've.  And that is the truth.

Now that I can agree with. If you don't want to support GNR (for whatever reason) then don't. But don't just steal the album then try to justify why, ya know?

No danger in that.  Only way I'll download leaks from GNR is if there is no release date announced.  If they decide to release the album and annolunce I'll either buy or not and that'll be that.

So whats changed?

One would hope that when RB2 is released Axl or GNR will come out of hiding and actually start doing some promotion...if not I think we can forget CD again for this year

SR will be treated the same way Oh my God was.  Axl will say it was an unfinished demo by December of this year.

So Axl just decided to hand over an unfinished demo for a huge video game?  That makes a lot of sense.

I clearly see you're frustrated and expecting the worst.  I can't change that.  The song MAY not be released as an official single, it MAY not signal the start of official promotion for CD.  You've obviously decided this already.  I'm willing to wait and see.

By the way, you can pretty much rule out a GNR appearance at the VMA's (for anyone who actually believed that was possible).  With Slash being a presenter, Britney Spears opening the show, and Kanye West closing the show.  That doesn't leave much room for Axl and the gang.

Would you believe Axl handed in an unfinished demo for the soundtrack of a movie?  Me neither and that is what he said when he saw Oh my God got bad reviews.  He said it was an unfinished demo.  I'm not frustrated I just know what to expect.  And if you don't believe me for the Oh my God thing.  The quote is out there.  Sic may help.

Skwerl has spoken about his release on www.antiquiet.com he says he was arrested at gunpoint.  Being one that fully believes that GNR supported this and were behind this arrest.  I think this is very excessive for the FBI to arrest this guy at gunpoint or even arresting him.  Don't they have terrorists to catch?  Anyways after reading this I find myself NOT wanting to buy this album anymore because of this.  What about you guys?  Will you buy CD anyways?

Uhhh yes, I will buy CD.
Enforcing federal law = FBI.

Sheesh.
The band didn't have anything to do with gunpoint or federal agents.
It's just a stupid band.

Get over yourself!
If you don't like the way copyright laws are call your senator and congressman if you're a US citizen.

Sheesh!  I am over myself and trust me I am against downloading more than anybody.  I NEVER dowloaded anything but the GNR leaks.  I supported Metallica against Napster when everybody slammed them.  Metallica's album has leaked and I ¸haven't downloaded it and won't cause I'll buy it when it comes out next week?  Why did I download the GNR leaks.  Cause I wanted to hear what Axl came up with and he won't release it.  And there is no release in sight.  When the leaks happened if Axl would've said it was coming out on said date I would've waited.  But what I don't agree with is if this guy was arrested by the FBI at gunpoint then it is really exaggerated.  And I realize Axl didn't tell the FBI to do this (If it is true) but the mere fact that he is so pissed at the fans for caring enough to want to hear his new material really pisses me off.  And that is why I may not buy the fucking thing!  So don't try to give me a lecture on copyright laws when I never download and won't download CD if I don't buy it.  By the way I have over 2500 cd's at home all bought.  So I think I respect your law man.  No hard feelings.

You beat me to it.

Every band that signs a major record contract sells out the moment the ink hits the paper. So the whole *insert band name here* sold out at such and such point in their career is totally lame and untrue.  They become a corperate entity the moment they sign a contract and their music becomes a business. And they all know this full well.

In a sense that is true.  But what I mean is that sometimes a said band makes a record or a few records and then completely changes and make more radio friendly music much like Metallica did.  And you know it's because the band wants to make more money which is fine.  Of course GNR 'sold out' the minute they signed a record deal.  But it became more apparent with the UYI records.  As long as the quality of the music doesn't suffer too much from it see Metallica Load and Reload.
