#1191 Re: The Garden » Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating! » 918 weeks ago
Had a great Turkey day (except for Dallas being 10-1) and also ate like a starved pig. Hope everyone had a great day and for those of you travelling be safe going back home.
As far as those "damn Canadians" ... hey, we ate a little for you guys too! (Thanksgiving in October...sheesh!)
#1192 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash and Duff have discussed doing a GNR reunion show » 918 weeks ago
I think a reunion will happen but not anytime soon. Eventually Axl is going to "reflect" on his life as will the rest of the GNR of used-to-be. These guys will be pushing 50 soon and if you've noticed, that's when most big bands forget egos and concentrate on one last ride into their legacy. Some it takes a little longer but it usually does happen. I'm sure the money aspect doesn't hurt either. I firmly believe (barring any passings or the like) we will see a reunion...eventually.
#1193 Re: Guns N' Roses » "The Spaghetti Incident?" (14 Years On) » 918 weeks ago
The Spaghetti Incident was the weak link of the GNR catalogue. I agree that releasing it as an album proper was a mistake. These songs are good b-sides but for the most part nothing more. Ain't It Fun is really the only song I listen to from that album any longer. I'd love to get my hands on the I Don't Care About You video however. That one still remains a treasure for serious collectors and remains a thorn in my side as I have never obtained it.
#1194 Re: Guns N' Roses » Angel Down Selling Out » 918 weeks ago
its that little bit where he sings
Axl wrote:and when Bas played the third track, "Stuck Inside," he suggested a kind of call-and-answer part. They allowed me the freedom to write my own words and melodies, and although it's only a couple of lines, it really felt great.
Thanks man, that explains it. This is the zenith of the album for me, just goes to show that a little bit of Axl can go a long way. Those minor additions he has contributed really elevate the song.

I think all Axl did was come up with some lyrics, so they had to credit him
That may be the case. Only Johnny Chromatic and Axl are listed as the writers however and the way Axl's vocal contributions work with the song (structure wise) I would suspect he did more than come up with just a few lyrics on this one. It's easily the best track and is put together very well. Axl's writing skills are definitely superior to Bach's and this leads me to think Axl worked on this one quite a bit. Anybody who finds out one way or the other let me know. I'd be interested in knowing.
#1196 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Mist (SPOILERS) » 918 weeks ago
If anyone's interested in the rather good audiobook on The Mist, it can be found here. The trick is, it was recorded with the Kunstkopf method (aka synthetic head), which allows the recorded sounds to emulate real-life acoustics when listened with headphones.
I have this and recommend it highly. The audio is top notch as well is the acting. I listened to it on my headphones during a rainy day that happened to have a touch of fog, perfect setting. I would love to see King's IT get the same type of treatment. Of course they would have to put it on like 100 cds.
I haven't read spoilers, but I did read where the ending is different from the novella, and King said he wished he had thought of this new ending because he would have used it.
That definitely has me intrigued. Normally I would be bitching about changes like that, especially considering the creepy ending and how it was left open.
I didn't know about this, this IS intriguing. I loved the whole novella and I thought the ending worked. Very curious as to what King found to be superior to the original's ending.

Mine was the 12.99 price tag so I was happy enough. I don't like the cardboard crap (Black Rain really pissed me off!!) but the music is surprisingly good so I'm satisfied. Stuck Inside is my favorite tune right now and I think Axl co-wrote it. This album is good.
#1198 Re: Guns N' Roses » Another theory as to why the the ball is in the record company's hands » 918 weeks ago
This is huge. This may be the true beginning of the end for the record industry as we know it.
#1199 Re: The Sunset Strip » Broker Threatens To Sue Britney Over Wrecked Apartment » 918 weeks ago
She looked good in a schoolgirl outfit at one time and that "got her over". I agree that she is nothing more than trailer trash with cash. What a freakin' waste. "You can take the girl out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl". She has proven this to be a truth among truths.

nice review GS. My favorites are a little different then yours, but all in all I agree it is a solid rock album with a few weaker songs. I give it a 7.5. I said before I really think this and Zeitgeist are tied for rock albums of the year.
Thanks, I noticed from talking to a few people that we all had different faves...that's a good thing for the record. What did you think about the pic with Axl everybody? Doesn't look to thrilled to "be there", lol. For those of you that haven't picked it up yet check out the look on Axl's face:
