LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Lindsay Lohan was a jailbird for just 84 minutes Thursday, becoming the latest celebrity to serve less than a day for a drunken driving offense.

Lindsey Lohan is shown in a booking mug from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Lohan, 21, turned herself in to the Los Angeles County women's detention center in Lynwood at 10:30 a.m. She was searched, fingerprinted and placed in a holding cell in the inmate reception area but got to keep her street clothes, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

"She was cooperative," he said.

Lohan was released at 11:54 a.m. Her original daylong sentence was reduced because she met criteria that took into account overcrowding at the lockup and the fact that her crime was nonviolent, Whitmore said.

Did the celebrity receive special treatment?

"Absolutely not. This is what we do for most everybody in this position," Whitmore said. In fact, 30 to 50 women are granted early releases from the facility every day, he added.

An e-mailed message seeking comment from Lohan's publicist was not immediately returned.

In May, the star of "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" was arrested after crashing her Mercedes-Benz into a tree in Beverly Hills. She was arrested again in July after the mother of Lohan's former personal assistant called 911 to report that her car was being chased by an SUV. The chase ended in Santa Monica, where police arrested Lohan for being behind the wheel. In both cases, Lohan was found in possession of small amounts of cocaine.

In August, she reached a plea deal on misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges stemming from the arrests. The judge sentenced her to four days in jail -- the mandatory minimum for a second drunken-driving offense -- but gave her credit for 24 hours already served. She elected to complete 10 days of community service instead of 48 hours behind bars.

The total deal called for her to enter treatment, spend a day in jail and perform community service.

"It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs," Lohan said in a statement released by her publicist in August.

Lohan had until January 18 to serve the jail time.

She spent two minutes longer in lockup than Nicole Richie did in August for a similar offense.

Richie was arrested December 11, 2006, after witnesses reported seeing her black Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle headed the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank. She pleaded guilty in July to a misdemeanor DUI charge in a deal with prosecutors that helped her avoid a potential year in jail because it was a second driving-under-the-influence conviction. She served 82 minutes in custody, during which she was booked but never actually placed in a cell.

Richie's co-star on TV's "The Simple Life," Paris Hilton, served 23 days at the same jail this year after she was found guilty of driving on a suspended license while on probation for an alcohol-related reckless-driving case.

Must be nice.  Can you imagine what any of us would be paying/serving for our second offense DUI?

I also would have to say Rust In Peace.   Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Lucretia,  Take No Prisoners and Dawn Patrol being the main reasons.  This album proved that Mustaine was for real while the previous albums had only hinted at what this band was capable of.

If I had to pick a second it would be Youthanasia.  From Reckoning Day to Victory there are no weak songs and it is one of the best produced albums I have ever heard.

Good call on TDS Slinger. I had forgotten that. But for production purposes I prefer The Fragile. The songs arent as good, but with the live instruments and big sounding production it's my favorite in that sense. 'Into the Void' is all about production. It wouldn't work on any other NIN album.

Thanks, I actually wasn't sure whether I liked the Fragile or Downard Spiral better myself...finally it was basically a coin toss.  Another album I'd like to add to my list is the self titled debut by Van Halen.

T. Davis, just not enough there to put him at "that" level.  Good idea for an elimination Lofton, kudos

#1226 Re: Guns N' Roses » Supporting Baz [and Axl].. who will buy Angel Down? » 920 weeks ago

I always loved Skid Row and liked some of Baz's newer music too but I have to confess it's getting old to me.  The stuff I've heard sounds more and more dated.  With Frameshift he was stepping into a different (more modern) sound and it worked but this stuff is leaving me a little disappointed.  There was one track that BLS posted about a year ago that kicked ass but since then nothing has really impressed me much.  I'll still buy it however and a big part is that Axl is on it.  I'm a loser...lol.

#1227 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Video Game Console Thread » 920 weeks ago

Hey Neemo!  Been awhile, whassup??  I have a PS3, my best friend has an XBOX 360 and my nephew has the Wii so I can give you an honest opinion from seeing all three first hand.  Ok, first of all if it's for the kids Wii cannot be touched and it is a fairly good console for "everyone else" as well although it won't produce XBOX 360/PS3 style graphics.  Now for the XBOX/360 debate.  I bought the PS3 based on what I had seen of its capabilities and history of the Playstation console but if I were buying NOW, I'd say go with the XBOX 360.  The reason is more games and a better price tag.  The XBOX 360 right now is as good as the PS3 (minus blu ray) for less money and a larger library so you can't go wrong.  I've heard all the "death to PS3" opinions but I believe the PS3 to be a more powerful machine that simply has been harder to develop games for (the same was true with the PS2 for the first generation or two of games) and had a TERRIBLE mismanagement by SONY.  I almost think because they were losing money on the console (about 200.00 more to make than what they sold it for) that they didn't WANT to sell a large amount at first.  If so...their mistake.  WHich is good because XBOX is a serious rival now!  I do believe that PS3 will eventually show a superiority in technology and thus have better/more advanced games, but who knows when/if that will happen.  Go with the XBOX 360.  My friend has the sports games for the XBOX 360 and I have them for the PS3, some look better on my console and some on his but in the end it's about half and half.  HOWEVER, Madden runs a little quicker on his console than mine, I heard the frame rate is less for the PS3 on that game.  Mine looks a little better but his is a tad faster.  The boxing and FIFA games are better on the PS3 and the basketball games are dead even.  Hockey is amazing on the PS3 but my friend don't have it so I can't give you a comparison.  As far as quality he hasn't had any problems with his XBOX and my PS3 has never had any problems either.  As of now, the XBOX 360 is the better deal in my opinion unless you want a blu ray dvd player, then go with the PS3.

p.s. DAMN YOU and THOSE PATRIOTS!!! That is the most dominant team I have EVER seen in my memory.  I think they have a very real chance at an undefeated season.
