James you ain't the only one seeing the pattern here trust me. I ain't all pessimistic. If SR is on RB2 and an album gets released great. If not well I won't be surprised. I can't believe people here haven't learned from past experiences. I expect NOTHING from Axl. That way can't be disappointed. And James you're right. If Azoff can't get CD out NOBODY can and we'll never see that album. If by the end of September we only got the silent treatment then you can all forget about this year folks. And I am very generous to say by the end of September. Realistically I should say by mid September at latest.

James Lofton wrote:misterID wrote:This in no way similar to Oh My God. I think everyone involved is done testing the waters. Especially since nine songs have leaked off the album, they're not going to throw one we haven't heard out there on top of it.
Plus, this is being treated completely different than Oh My God.
What do prior leaks have to do with Shackler itself? Nothing. Its one song being used to promote a product. Thats what Oh My God was, and thats what this is.
The only way its being treated differently is Axl is giving zero info about the track, and I don't consider that much of a good thing. Hard to promote a song when the composer of it doesn't give two shits and the singer isn't interested in talking either.
Why the hell would they need a "test the waters" track, especially since almost all mainstreams rock mags and critics have reviewed the leaks already? They've already tested the waters. Shit, some of the songs have already charted on radio. That makes no sense to have a "test the waters" track when they already know what the reaction to the new GNR sound is going to be. I don't see smart people like Axl's management team blowing their load on a NEW GNR song, never heard before, knowing what the reaction to that would be, just to test the waters.
And wasn't Oh My God released without his permission?
Why? Cause Axl doesn't have the guts to release this album. And trust me since Oh my God was on the End of Days soundtrack they definitely got his permission. Or else there would've been a lawsuit.

I mean I know this is GNR, and nothing ever goes to plan. But why would they even post on their website about the song if there was even the slightest possibility that the song(s) could be switched? I know the website is hardly ever updated, but that supports my point even more. They could've said nothing about it, then they'd have an easy out. They've commented on it, and we're all expecting it, I don't see how they could back out at this point. Maybe I'm naive.
Why would Axl announce a tentative release date for an album that is more than 10 years in the making only to not mention it again for a year and half almost 2 years?
The band, or the article on www.gunsnroses.com didn't say that "Shackler's Revenge" was tentatively gonna be on Rock Band 2.
I know what you're saying, but there is a difference.
I didn't imply that SR was said to be tentatively on RB2 but it's still the same thing. If U2, Metallica, Bon Jovi or any other big popular bands announce a tentative release date for an album. You can bet your ass that almost 2 years later that album WILL HAVE been released. Her we are a year and a half and more than that after he released that statement on his website and not only he hasn't released the stupid album but he barely or hasn't mentioned it since. And you say you would be surprised if SR isn't in RB 2? I'll be surprised if IT IS RB2. I wouldn't be surpirzed that it isn't in the game and that they don't mention anything about this ever again. And this is another department where Azoff has failed. By now he sould've made Axl hire better PR people.

For a game/comeback song of this significance, it defies logic. In a month or so, most guys (and gals) are gonna be rocking out to a new GN'R song on their consoles in their living room (alongside older (and some contemporary) songs of more considerable fame), that now more-or-less under a month before no one (in the general public, not all affiliated with the VG and song 'release') has heard. Give me a break.
I truly expect, like the HD experience, 'Paradise City' or 'Jungle' to be the song they play to on September 14. Anybody on here who ordered this thing in advance may want to monitor this situation very closely from now in, I guess....
By the looks of things, Axl won't even attach his name to that rereleased 1987 AFD (another nail in the reunion coffin by the way). Thus, (him not doing the same to) a new project of this 'magnitude' is no surprise to me IMHO.
Thats a bit doom and gloom. WE will likely get Shackler, I'm just saying that people shouldn't be shocked if there's a plan B that involves rehash.
I just don't see this as some innovative marketing. Axl and GNR aren't even talking and we're a month away. Its amateurish, and I'm surprised Azoff is even allowing this to go on. I know I've said this a hundred times, but if Axl or anyone associated with GNR want anything new GNR related to be taken seriously, its time to drop this lame mystery crap and treat it like its a real song/album. There is no mystery anymore so trying to act like there is just makes it look like they are spoofing themselves.
Bumblefoot was asked about this track at some show, and all he would say is that it kicks ass.
Bumble, you're a couple weeks away from having to potentially promote this, and thats all you're "allowed" to say??:nervous:
Sounds like Mister Magoo may once again have hijacked this train.
I agree with this post. I'm surprized Azoff with the reputation he has as allowed this farce to keep on going like this. To me Azoff has failed miserably with this project and I ain't necessarily knocking him down or blaming him. As it stands now I do not expect an album this year, I do not expect Shackler's Revenge on RB2. I expect the silent treatment to keep going for a VERY long time and I do expect Azoff to either quit or getting fired by the end of the year.

Cheers for posting.
Tomorrow works for me....
While if it leaks I definitely want to hear it. We have been jerked around for so long that his song don't even excite me. And if that news would've happened 2 or 3 years ago it would've made me go out and buy an X-Box 360 just for that game. Now I'm gonna wait for the PS 3 version of the game and it is not even a guarantee I'm going to buy it the day Rock Band 2 comes out. While I wanna hear the song when it leaks out of curiosity, the excitement is all gone man. And even if Axl were to announce a release date for the album tomorrow I still wouldn't get excited. Mainly because I wouldn't believe him but still. Am I the only one who feels like this?

Oh god I hope you're right. I still maintain that Shackler's Revenge is one of the dumbest song titles I've ever heard of.
I like the title Shackler's Revenge.

ID, I think they would give if Axl gave...splitting hairs here. Izzy could use the money as he missed out on the huge UYI touring money. Axl has the score to settle with UNI. As for Duff and Slash, Duff's interest in business and finance will lead him in the right direction. Slash, he'll do whatever....free spirit.:slash:
If Slash, Izzy and Matt or Steven are in I can guarantee you that Duff will be in. Slash would be the toughest one to convince and even he wouldn't be taht hard to convince to do it.
#1260 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR, Rock Band, the VMAs and 4 albums » 881 weeks ago
I still don't think they really give a shit about money in the long run. They are all filthy rich
and a reunion for them would be for sentimental value only. Slash has said many, many times
that every year someone is throwing insane ammounts of money for a reunion and that hasn't
made them budge once.It could be a part of Axl and Azoffs "plans" but the other guys would have to go along with it.
And I just don't see them wanting to unless there is a huge understanding about what is what, and
no one is going to be dictated to. I just don't see that being a very realistic opition.
If I had to bet money I'd say we unfortunately get a reunion before we get CD.
