#1261 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash commenting on Duff with GNR » 764 weeks ago
So if they reunited, would they ignore CD? God I hope not. The coolest thing would be for them to approach it like Soundgarden has- build excitement, release something to hold everyone over, do some show, hit the studio.
No one thinks Slash can handle Bucket's part- bah. If they wanted to, they could rework alt versions for touring, not because they CAN'T play it, but because they're awesome enough to slap some old-school guns on the new stuff.
I love GNR in any incarnation, but the Grail for me is at LEAST the Big 4. Sorry, but that's who I grew up with. I used to have posters and rock mag pics all over my walls as a kid. I remember the first time I saw GNR- I thought "Who is that disgusting guy with a nipple ring?" It was Axl. It was probably another 6 months before I heard AFD. AFD was one of those rare albums (that at that point I could have counted on one hand with room to grow) that was awesome from start to finish, on the very first listen. Not too many albums can grab you like that, especially before you discover drugs.

It would be badass to see them reunite in almost any form, under almost any circumstances. But being brought back as contract players definitely would lessen the excitement a bit, as it does for any band. Van Halen's multiple reunions are a perfect example. Booting out Michael Anthony and bringing back DLR as an employee just sours things- they're not a "band" anymore- it lessens the tightness and camaraderie. In the end, it HAS to severely limit creativity as well. Who's going to put they're best and most interesting stuff out there, when in the end all the decisions, blame or credit is going to go to one or two people?
But like I said, I'd take it if that's all that was offered for GNR. As others have said, though, I'm more interested in whatever incarnation can put out new music and be truly active. The current lineup is SO ready to fill that role- they're the best shot we have at new (and ideally, REGULAR) output. I hope to God it doesn't fizzle away.

Honestly, the only way I'd accept a reunion is if I don't feel that it's shitting on the current members of the band. Tommy, Dizzy and Pitman in particular.
If there was a true "all-five" reunion, the only one of these three who might have to go is Tommy. Dizzy is UYI "original" in that he wasn't replacing anybody to join, and Pitman is completely off in his own category, so wouldn't be in anyone's way.
#1264 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash and Myles Max Sessions » 766 weeks ago
I don't mind Myles, but most of his and Slash's work together sounds very tame. There's not much I've heard that has excited me. Also, I think Civil War sounded very thin in the parts where Slash was trying to playing lead riffs. It would probably sound much better if Myles was playing rhythm.
Totally off topic, but Myles looks so similar to Jamie Kennedy to me. It didn't even occur to me til yesterday that they have the same last name. I was really expecting to find out they were brothers.

I'm listening to it now, and so far, so good. It's not "classic" but it's good to hear Glen's voice. It's worth giving a listen.

I think he could pull it off in one of his smaller setting shows. I won't say "acoustic", but "scaled back enough so he could sit down and sing" would probably sound awesome.

I also think it's kind of time for someone to tell Dizzy that his ZS solo stinks.
#1268 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash eyed Rose for solo album » 769 weeks ago
I agree with russtcb- it's laughable to me that Slash "considered" Axl, but ultimately decided against it. I love Slash and don't hold anything against him, but that's a wee bit presumptuous on his part to assume that he has that sort of power.

So some schizophrenic gets some homeless people to post to some Bizarro-Oprah Winfrey message board from the library, can't give an online pamphlet away for free OR compose a complete sentence, and WE'RE the pussies?!
Are you Mel Gibson?

Sounds like everything's back on track now, barring an unfortunate piano malfunction.
