What Izzy tapes?? That's the first time I'm hearing of this. I'm assuming they haven't leaked yet? What's on 'em? the lost solo record with Slash & Duff, JuJuHounds2?

There was just one tape and it was 8 demos from Ju Ju Hounds 2. It was sold online a few months back but hasnt leaked. - source

Thanks for the info!! I'd love to hear that second JuJu Hounds record. Interesting that it has Riding Home on it. He must have given Duff that song for Loaded in 1999... hope the CD will leak, just like the tapes with Duff from '95.

About that Toothpuller song. Now that's sort of weird, because I remember an apparently fake Dizzy interview from 15 years ago where it was mentioned that Izzy wrote a song about getting tooth pulled??! Was that interview real after all? Or did somebody fake it who must have had quite some insight info...??

Edit: I just found the quote of the apparent interview (from 2006):

Building on this, from talking to him at lunch & whatnot... Dizzy had a LOT to say about the former Gunners. Keep in mind these are paraphrases...

On Izzy: 'You have to understand that Izzy is one of those people that does whatever he wants. You know... when I joined the band, he sometimes... just didn't show up. Examples include during the recording of the music video for "Don't Cry" and the music video for "You Could Be Mine" at the end in the scene where the band exits the studio and sees Arnold. [we watch the 'You Could be Mine' music video and Dizzy comments... "hey... where's Izzy? o wait... yea, he wasn't there"] Obviously part of the reason that Izzy left might have been the fact that he and Axl didn't get along towards the end... but thats just part of it. I mean... about the Ju Ju Hounds... I have a friend who was the guitarist for that band back in the early 90s and he was always complaining about how Izzy would just not show up for shows. [I comment that Izzy is turning into Axl... which puts a frown on Dizzy's face] And... just as a musician... Izzy used to be a great songwriter- his contribution to Guns N' Roses first album are phenomenal. But, its almost like the guy has lost the fire... I mean I saw the guy a couple years back in the studio... and he was showing me a song he had just written called "Toothpuller" - it was literally about him visiting the dentist and getting a tooth pulled out.[Dizzy then sings some of the lyrics] I mean... this is a guy who wrote some badass songs and now he's writing about getting his tooth pulled... I mean come on... can you imagine Axl singing that live?' [I next ask him about rumors that Izzy had been paying visits to Axl's Malibu mansion over the last few years and had been rejected at the door several times] Yea... he's always doing that- he'd done it a few times actually. [I ask him if its because Izzy wants back in G'n'R] No... I mean I'm not sure... the guy sort of just does his own thing... he did join us back during the Use Your Illusion tour briefly... Gilby had hurt himself and so he stepped in for a couple of dates... I mean, the guy's really weird is the best way to describe it... in '91, we were playing some shows in England... like one day we were having the times of our lives playing a sold-out Wembley and the next day... I talk to Izzy and he's like: "I'm leaving the band" and I'm like "what!?" and he's like: "Dizzy... I'm leaving the band." I personally don't understand him to any extent.

I agree in spirit but unfortunately  LALD & KOHD are in the Top 20 most downloaded GNR songs.

They're never leaving the set. They're essentially GNR songs at this point.

They may need to sacrifice deep cuts that hardcore fans enjoy and like you said, more recently added covers.

I thought initially that my desire for a shorter set was just me getting older but it's really too long.

I feel the same. A shorter set might also be easier on Axl's voice. As far as KOHD is concerned, it would help if they reduced its length from 10 to 3-4 minutes...

Too many covers, I agree. If they at least would alternate between them.

(100) Cuban Skies is mentioned on this forum, apparently a song about cigars

That's very interesting. Cuban Skies dates back to at  the very latest 2003 and likely around the time of these sessions.

So which instrumental is it?  10

I asked on the forum, the guy said "That one (version of Cuban Skies) he showed me the intro which was Spanish guitar acoustic vibe"

sounds like If The World! Is he sure it's a different track? Maybe Cuban Skies was a working title at the time they abandoned again?

Did the remix album ever leak in full?  I only ever heard clips of those remixes.  There was a clip of a  classic rock remix of OMG that was badass.  I'm dying to hear it in full if anyone has it to share.

no, the only thing that has ever leaked were 5 Brain remixes of ChiDem songs (Shackler, ITW, TIL, Better ("Better Gone") and Prostitute ("Blood in The Water")) of the alleged 6 songs Brain remixed back then. if you heard some "classic rock remix of OMG", it was almost certainly a fake.

Well, there was a snippet of the Bumblefoot OMG version at the time that came along with the first remix snippets. Maybe you mean that one?

Back in the very early 2000s (before The Project and the VR sessions) Izzy recorded a solo album with Duff and Slash that has never seen the light of day.

Slash said that he wrote and recorded a total of five songs with Stradlin in November around the holidays, but the songs still require about a day's worth of "fixing," as well as background vocals. Meanwhile, McKagan said that he's laid down the bass tracks for an album's worth of songs in two different sessions in November and December at a studio in Los Angeles.

"Me and Slash are just the session guys, man," McKagan said, laughing. "I just went in and did bass tracks for the first three songs in an hour and kept at it."

Izzy then went on and released 'On Down The Road' instead. Also a couple of years before 'Fire' there was talk of an acoustic album that never surfaced and I think at some point there even was talk of a Rarities collection.

Izzy from a Q&A with the Izzy fan board back in the day:

6. Is there any chance that some unreleased projects (acoustic album, Slash/Duff album etc.) will see the daylight some day?

yes,i have a few ideas.....06/07 release of some cool stuff possible.

10. How did you find out about the "Like A Dog" petition on the internet?

e-mail from somewhere?.............i`m thinking of releasing entire catalog of solo materials,1993-2006,plus out takes and some bonus material.looking for a cool label to make this happen

unfortunately none of that has ever materialized

Not really surprising, is it?

Although they reintroduced Black Hole Sun...yet again...

Well, a big hit is relative. By 2000 the musical landscape was very different than it was in 1991. There were no more really guitar heavy big hits by then anymore. That said, I don't know why Perhaps or The Blues - given the proper promotion - shouldn't have done fine enough commercially as a second single. Would they have had a huge impact on the music scene? Fuck no. But they could have performed more than well enough so that every one could have moved on with their heads held high. Songs like Oklahoma or Soul Monster on a subsequent release clearly wouldn't have been chart toppers. Not suitable for the masses. But they would have done well in the Rock market. Velvet Revolver didn't have mega hits either. Contraband was still a #1 album. No reason why Axl shouldn't have achieved at least that same level of success with these wasted/lost songs.

I agree. Even by 2008 the world was listening with different ears already. That's why the stuff should have come out then. Soul Monster or Zodiac in 1999/2000 or even in 03 would have blown people's minds.
