Hey guys...I was planning on participating in the draft. I see that I'm no longer in the league. Just wondering if I could get clarification.
Were you in the league last year? If you give me your email I can send you and SundanceKid invites so we’d have an even number. Everyone should have been auto-renewed from last season.

Hey sorry didn't get it.
jimmythomas1983@gmail.com is my email.
Sorry, I’m just seeing this now. Draft is in less than 3 hours and we need an even number of teams to draft. So I checked with a couple guys to see if they were still planning on playing this year. If I don’t hear back from either I can give you control of their team. One guy only made 1 move last year so I’m guessing he’s not super interested, so as long as I can get that done in between or during my other draft at 7:30. Busy night. I’ll keep you posted.

All these teams willing to go with their young guys, and the Bears still want to start Andy Dalton when Justin Fields is clearly the better option.
And add the COVID angle. Newtown had to miss practice because he left the state, and that's only a requirement for players who have refused to get vaccinated. The NFL is saying teams with COVID positives that cause a reschedule from unvaxxed players will forfeit their games. Newton was iffy at best as his capability as a staring QB. Add in the risk Belichick takes of Newton testing positive and forcing all the QBs out of the game, and he runs a real chance of forfeiting a game. I wonder how much more we'll see of this tomorrow morning.
Great points. From all reports Cam had a decent camp and the competition between him and Mac was pretty even. The Covid issue from last week may have tipped the scale in Mac’s favor once and for all. Interestingly, Jones was the only QB to make the team since Hoyer was also cut and Stidham is on the PUP list. Of course that will change and they’ll likely bring Hoyer back before the season starts.

I just set the fantasy draft (9/7 at 9:30pm) so if you were in the league last year check the league page and/or email. Sorry for the lateness but life is crazy. If anyone wants in or out let me know.

I cry like a bitch at various points watching Field of Dreams, no matter how many times I see it. Baseball was my first love as a kid and I remember fondly going to many games at Fenway Park.

I voted for “this year”. I’d guess sometime in September or October. Somewhere my mother in law heard GNR was releasing a new song in October. She most likely heard it on the Today show since that’s basically all she watches. That and the Food Network, but I doubt there’s much GNR talk going on there. They said it would be their first official release in 13 years. I don’t know where they’re getting that information from. If they meant the NEXT song, album, etc.

Yeah....and so will the next song.
His total lack of ever discussing CD II in depth wound up being a gift to themselves all these years later.
Hardschool.....hot off the presses!
Only 500 nerds will know or care otherwise.
I read an article from Australian music news website Noise 11 and they said “Absurd” was the first song from Chinese Democracy played with Slash & Duff in GNR.
Um, not quite.
Then, in a follow up article they said the new song was reworked from when it was released on CD.
Pretty poor reporting, but casuals probably don’t even notice or care.

So here we are, Monday (in Australia), three days after the release of Absurd, and it’s barely made a blip really. Sure, quite a few websites reported about it, but considering it’s the first official original music from Axl/Slash in 30 years, I feel underwhelmed by the response.
Hopefully they have a back up plan with more something along the lines of classic material to build on the initial momentum that Absurd gave them.
I’d really like to believe they have a plan. I haven’t seen Axl so happy on stage with the band since 2015.
I’m thinking more and more that this release was more for promoting the tour than a new album, at least in the short term. It gets word out there that they’re playing shows in case people weren’t aware. The fact that only Absurd and Hard Skool are on the set list options, that’s most likely all we’re going to get. So if they go the traditional route, a new album down the line could be mostly songs we haven’t heard (in current form). Or, they could release a few songs on each leg of tours going forward. But I’m not expecting this to be an immediate springboard to a new album. Though I hope I’m wrong.

misterID wrote:With how well Absurd is doing on word of mouth alone, no radio play, commercials or anything, Hard School (or Skool) has the potential of being a really, really huge hit.
That's my thought. They are setting pretty low expectations by going with a very industrial sounding tune. Then you launch Hard School and even the haters of Absurd will likely be way happier. I really like Slash & Duff's contributions on Absurd. I think they elevate the song, even if the song was never worthy of being saved in the first place. So I'm excited to see what Slash & Duff might be able to do for Hard School. That one has a lot of potential.
Definitely makes me appreciate Slash and Duff even more. I like the song musically now, still working my way around the vocals but it’s a definite improvement from Silkworms to me. Like many have said, the rushed lyrics at the beginning seem odd, but I guess that’s what they were going for.
I actually liked pretty much all of CD and still do. I was never one to pine for leaked tracks over the album versions, it was all fine for me. But listening to the improvement of Absurd, makes me wonder how much different (better) other songs might sound with the Slash/Duff effect.
Absurd is down to #34 now after the initial curiosity. I expect that trajectory will continue, but stay the course. Don’t overreact Team Brazil.
