@Bono
I was actually a DX mark back in the day before I was an Austin mark. So i'm not delusional. You're perspective is your perspective. nWo was MASSIVE where I was at, and when I wore DX shirts I was called a pussy, and a fuckin' punk, and nWo signs flashed Scott Hall style in my face. DX didn't really catch on fire until 1998, when nWo got overblown.
jmo
Well there we have it. Things were heating up and were popular in areas and weren't in other's. The fact is though DX was popular from the begining in certain regions with HBK and HHH before Austin blew up the way he did. Without HBK and HHH doing what they did the attitude era never comes to be and Austin's character could never happen to that degree. HBK was ATTITUDE before the era was dubed Attitude Era. He and HHH broke down barriers and like I said, here where I lived WWF and DX were the shit. Nobody watched WCW, even when Bret went over nobody I knew switched. I watched both yet nobody I knew watched WCW and my buddies who had NEVER watched wrestling started geting into it because of the HBK/HHH version of DX. To the point THEY were the ones havig MOnday night RAW parties. It blew my mind.
So again to say WWF goes under without Austin is a huge stretch. It was a group effort because without HBK Austin's anti establishment character likely never happens and without he other talent surrounding them at the time there's nothing to work with. Had the talent level them been what it is now WWF woul've been history. Also fans paying attention(Canadian fans I guess
) saw that DX was doing something original where as nWo got incredibly stale, incredibly fast.

in other news, bono and neemo find more musical common ground
Like: GnR, David Usher/Moist, Crue
Strongly Dislike: Rush
It's like we're the same person..... almost..... not really......

Bono wrote:Why would you think I hate Motley Crue? I loved them back in the day. From that genre the only two bands I still listen to regularly are Bon Jovi and Motley Crue. Of the bands on that list in Motley Crue's bracket I like them the best easily.
With the U2 link I had you down as more of an alt rock kind of guy
I don't really have a specific genre. My top five favoourite bands are:
1. U2
2. Guns n' Roses
3. Moist/David Usher
4. Soul Asylum
5. The Cure
It's kinda of a weird top 5
I grew up loving the 80's hard/hair rock. Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, Poison, AC/DC, Slaughter, Cinderella, Faster Pussycat, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, etc etc. My tastes started to change with Soul Asylum and when Guns dissapeared I got into more of the "alt rock" I guess. Bands like Moist, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Gandharvas, Oasis, Blur, NIN, Offspring, Smashing Pumpkins..... I was kinda all over the map and then I go into the Cure and became addicted to them incredibly fast. I heard the single Mint Car in January 1997 and with in a month I owned ever Cure album. Then in June 1997 I was given free tickets to see U2 on the Popmart tour and after that I became a casual fan of them but over the next three years I grew more into U2 to the point where they were probably my favourite band. Once Beautiful Day came out I knew they were my favourite band. So really I've only been a hardcore U2 fan for 13 years, 14 at the most.
Not that you care about any of that
Since 2000 though yeah my music tastes have strayed even further from the typical hard rock genre. Bands like The National, Stereophonics, Blue October, John Frusciante(not RHCP), Gaslight Anthem, Against Me!, Tragically Hip, Bon Iver, Wilco, etc etc.
Having said that I still love all those 80's bands I loved back in the day and listen to them fairly often. Just in a different way. Gn'R is really the only one that survived through my musical taste changes without the help of nostalgia. They've jut been a constant in my cd players for 22 years. UYI I is in my car right now. Guns N' Roses were the band that turned me into hardcore music fan.
Anyways.... that's kinda boring but yeah

For Bono:
I think I remember you saying you wanted Like Drawing Blood and I was just shopping online and saw it's being re-released:
That is so freaking weird that you would post this today as I was reorganizing my cd's last night(bought a new stand) and I threw Making Mirrors on and specifically thought to myself I wish I had Like Drawing Blood. Then today you post this

Thanks or the heads up dude.

Mikkamakka wrote:Common sense, Ali. You know, that something other people use. Believe me, nobody on Earth would sign over a million dollar worth property for nothing, just to see Axl smile. Except you, maybe.
I have common sense, but I think the problem is your definition of common sense is tantamount to presumptions that suit your pre-existing notions of how this situation unfolded. You say Axl surely knew that dirty tricks were used by Big FD to get Slash/Duff to sign over the name. Unless there is some recording or paper trail where he gives explicit instructions to try and coerce Slash/Duff into signing over the name, or he was actually in the room when it happened (which we know is not the case), then you have bases to say he SURELY knew. Is it possible he knew? It's possible. Is it a certainty as you claim? Absolutely not. IMO, that is a more reasoned assessment than what you stated.
Ali
I love when people make a conscious effort to sound smarter than they are by using ridiclous vocabulary. Ali we're on a Gn'R message board, not a court room. Seriously drop the act already. You know how I know it's an act? Cause you'd never talk that way in real life to any of us. I've never seen anyone buy into their own online persona like you do. The more people suggesed you act like Gn'R's attourney the more you play it up. It's so fucking weird.

Why would you think I hate Motley Crue? I loved them back in the day. From that genre the only two bands I still listen to regularly are Bon Jovi and Motley Crue. Of the bands on that list in Motley Crue's bracket I like them the best easily.
#137 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N Roses vs Rush (Final Round - Vote Now!!) » 675 weeks ago
I just looked at the brackets for this for the first time and holy shit! Gn'R's bracket is like all the greatest bands of all time while Rush's bracket is a bunch of B listers and even C listers
Honestly the way it's set up I'd have had Guns N' Roses vs Motley Crue as the final. If I didn't vote Gn'R I'd have the Stones as the best band on that list
And by "best" I mean which band I like best.
#138 Re: Guns N' Roses » Doug Goldstein Letter to Axl » 675 weeks ago
For me personally I was fully willing to accept a new version of Guns N' Roses. I've always been a NIN fan so I thought having Robin in the band was cool, always liked the Replacements so I liked that Tommy was on bass. I was excited to see what Guns N' Roses would become and I was more tha willing to support Axl and his new direction whatever that may have been. It was unfortunate that Slash and Duff were gone but back then Axl was the man to me and I had confidence he was going to do great things and I was excited and fully supportive of it.
WOW was I ever wrong. The "grudge" I hold if that's what we want to call it, is that Axl basically forced the hand of the others to the point that leaving Guns N' Roses made more sense than staying and then Axl went on to basically do fuck all. I can't believe there are actualy people who think CD was worth it. I mean seriously CD has been worth all of this? The dissolving of the greatest hard rock band ever(in my opinion) was worth it for a handful of nostalgia tours and one medicore album?
Axl dropped the ball BIG TIME while the other's went on to do something. Even if you don't like what the other's have done at least they moved on and did something. Axl hasn't done a fucking thing. It should be no surprise he gets a ton of shit cause in reality he's earned it.
#139 Re: Guns N' Roses » YouTube Rant Against DJ » 675 weeks ago
Good for her! Fuck DJ. I can totally relate to how she feels. What he did was so disrespectful and he deserves to be chewed out from her and he owes her an apology. You don't unfollow people on Twitter. Tawny Kitaen used to follow me on Twitter and then one day she unfollowed me. Like WTF did I ever do to deserve that......... well to be fair I've never followed her and when she followed me I didn't follow back. Still that's no excuse to UNFOLLOW me! So fuck Tawny Kitaen I'm no longer a fan of hers..... well I never was a fan of hers but still that's not the point. Point is she disrepected me by unfollowing me and I'm not gonna sit here and not say anything about it. It was rude of her to treat me like that so like I said fuck her. Bitch.
#140 Re: The Garden » Volkswagen Super Bowl Ad...Racist? » 675 weeks ago
How the fuck is it racist? Would it not be portraying Jamaican's as happy people? Everyone who gets happy starts talking with a Jamaican accent. Seems pro Jamaican to me. Too bad there's way too many fucking losers on this planet who need to find controversy in everything.
