Cool, you can actually hear Bach all autotuned in the "additional instruments" track for Sorry.

I enjoy listening to these multitracks because they increase my appreciation for the original song. Like on NIN's multi's where you could pick out Saul William's background vocals, and various other little blips and stuff in the background that I hadn't picked up on originally. But after hearing it in the multi, my ear was trained to hear it in the original.

And yeah, I can understand why the multitrack scene would want to keep this under wraps until RB3 came out with another batch of 80 songs or so. If Harmonix knows their encryption is broken, they'll come up with a better scheme for the new game. If they still think it's unbreakable though, they might just leave it alone, but realistically I would expect that they would have updated it anyway.

Ah, but those probably are the fruits of the labor... I'm sure the money Bucket made while in GNR has allowed him to be a much more prolific solo artist without having to worry quite as much about how many units he's selling. As talented as he is, he's still a niche artist or an acquired taste.

You forget...

(G) The VMA rehearsal footage is supposed to feature an 'unmasked' Buckethead jamming with the band, which could send the Bucketheaders up in arms, because of their respect of no unmasked images or videos of Bucket, which could create another problem for the hoarders.

In fact if more Buckethead fans were to stand strong on that, it would severely cripple their leverage with the footage.

I saw some clips from the VMA rehearsals from one of the other boards a couple of years ago, and Buckethead does not have his trademark KFC bucket on. At first, it looked like his face was all fucked up like some burn victim, but in the close ups you can see that he's wearing a Frankenstein mask or something like that. Maybe there's more footage of him without the bucket, but I wouldn't think he'd let himself be filmed like that.

And before anyone ask, yes I did download it but at the moment I'm not sure where I saved it to.

edit: I see there's a clip on youtube of Madagascar and says it was from GNR Reincarnated, but I seem to recall it was a different clip that showed more Buckethead.

What Trent has explained is that NIN is done as a touring band, but he will continue to record music. He's just taking time off to enjoy life with his new wife.

Of course, when the inevitable bitter showbiz divorce happens a few years down the road, I'm sure he'll have endless inspiration for a killer comeback album.

Yeah, I get the sense that while everybody loves Trent (myself included), he doesn't hold back when he thinks someone isn't cool enough to like him. Like when he was asked about the Lollapalooza 99 show and said something like "Fred Durst can surf a sheet of plywood up my ass." Say what you will about Durst, but he had always been a vocal NIN fan (like Axl) and when Trent dissed him in the press it started a war of words.

Just saw this at here: http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbbx/v … 80#1788780

Reznor explains that he wants to be a leader for peers through example and believes the most interesting way to do that right now is on-line, not on-stage. The he laughs at the pretentiousness sound of this statement. "I'm not an idiot, I swear. I'm not some fucking Axl Rose!" he smiles. Clearly the man who wrote Hurt is feeling pretty good.

Kinda underscores how Trent is viewed as this new-media visionary, while Axl has become a punchline. I do think that Trent is being a bit unfair - Axl isn't a fucking idiot, but I think he does have some serious mental problems which hampered his career.

Oh yeah, and he blasts Gene Simmons, too.

"I've always been drawn to some sort of hook. And theatrical things, a sense of art direction: Gene Simmons was a big influence. I am truly embarrassed to say that now, with what he's become. he's a corny, jive, ridiculous person who embodies everything that I despise in the music industry. It's not about art or even quality, it's about the product for sale."

And Manson, too.

"There was a sensationalism in the press, too, because it was extreme music and it wasn't hidden behind a manufactured character like Marilyn Manson. There was not mask, it was just me.

He is a malicious guy and will step on anyone's face to succeed and cross any line of decency. Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol rule his life and he's become a dopey clown. He used to be the smartest guy in the room."

Catcher in the Rye- One of the worst mixes in the history of music. A child put Ron's guitar work on this track. Needs to be toned down or removed completely.

I like what ron plays on the track overall but I agree its WAY too loud in the mix. The original demo was very paino driven in the intro  and I felt that really set a vibe and pace for the song which i feel is a bit drowned out now.

Completely agreed. I've grown used to the guitar parts in the beginning now, but I think it sounded much better on the original leak.

The rehearsals with Dave Abruzzesse and Pod as a duo were really cool; it was a shame then that it didn't work out but seemed for the best once we found Josh.

I assume he's talking about Chris Vrenna, whose nickname in NIN was Podboy. But it sounds like Axl isn't averse to the idea of two drummers sharing the stage.

so I would love to hear a new version far removed from what the most recent versions have sounded like.

I have to agree with you on that one. They used to play that one on the radio a lot around here, after Appetite had run its course and before Lies came out. I was so excited to finally here the studio version when Days of Thunder came out, and when I did it was just... ehh... its' okay I guess. Adding reggae breakdowns and gospel singers just takes away from the sloppy raw perfection of the Ritz version.

Also, speaking of YouTube, can anyone tell me what version of Jungle is in this Rock Band clip - it's definitely not the Appetite version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd3E8zgqJM4

If you're not familiar with it, before the original Rock Band game was released in 2007, this promotional video was shown in and auditorium at a game developers conference or something, and the clip on youtube was shot with a camcorder in the crowd so the quality isn't the best. Even though Jungle didn't wind up on the finished Rock Band game, I could see Axl throwing his support behind RB because Slash was partnering with Guitar Hero. And seeing as how the game makers need separate master tracks for each instrument, wouldn't Axl have tried to give them his re-recorded versions?

That would be another interesting possibility, too, that the re-recorded Appetite could be released as a full album Rock Band download.

read my just added point 5.........all leaked songs just happened to be on the album.....there is much more to the story than you think Pasnow...just my opinion.

I think we're looking at it backwards. The songs weren't on the album because they had already leaked, I think those songs (Better, IRS, TWAT, SOD, CD, Maddy) leaked because they were intended to be the core of the first album for quite some time now. These were the ones that were shared with various representatives of Geffen/Universal over the years because these were the songs that they needed to hear, to approve of the progress of the album. Stuff that's being saved for album #2 has probably been heard by far fewer people simply because they don't need to hear it yet, and it also has reduced the chance of it leaking.

The only exception may be Catcher. I believe at some point Axl said he was saving it for album #2, but if speculation about it leaking from Brian May's camp is true, this may have caused him to change his mind.
