I think it is a sad day in this country that someone can have an opinion that doesn't support gay marriage and take this kind of heat. It's not like she was bashing, she simply answered a question...honestly.
Well to play devil's advocate what if she was asked about interracial marriage and she simply stated she didn't believe white people should marry blacks? Would you be okay with the outrage that followed? If yes, how is that any different? BTW I am saying this as someone who wasn't offended by her comments.
As for the sexual orientation issue, I don't think it is as black and white as people believe it is. I don't think people can say ALL gays are born that way or that they ALL choose to be that way. I think there are different factors that go into it.
I do think that there are some, probably even most, that are born gay. I have two male friends that I have known practically my whole entire life. We grew up with each other and I can tell you it was clear they were "different" when they were small children. Many people had them pegged as gay before they even came to terms with it. I have no doubt in my mind that they did not choose to be this way. They were always different from day one.
Though I do think there are some people that do choose to be with the same sex and are not necessarily born with the orientation. For example I remember a women's basketball player that came out. She had previously been married to a man. She mentioned that she was not born gay and she was not closeted or denying her orientation when she got married, but that she had later chosen to be with a woman. I think this does happen and I think it probably happens with females more often than it does with males.
I also think there are other factors like sexual abuse during childhood which can play a role in sexual orientation. I've also heard of women that were victims of rape and couldn't be with a male afterwards.
So to me there is no clear cut answer, though I think most are probably born that way. I mean I look at myself as a straight woman. I never consciously made a choice to be attracted to men. It was just natural to me. I think the same goes for most gay people. It's just natural to them the same way it is natural for us heterosexual folks.

To have Perez Hilton involved with anything is a joke. I agree Perez Hilton shouldn't have asked that question. He is just trying to promote himself and his own agenda. The thing that bothers me the most about ths controversy is that it gets him more attention.
I have not really followed the whole thing, but was there really a lot of moral outrage over her comments? It seemed like when I'd see it talked about on tv most people would say while they don't agree with her stance they felt there was nothing wrong with what she said. I remember even a gay man called into one show and wanted nothing to do with Perez and said he wasn't bothered by her comments.
I am pro gay marriage, but wasn't really bothered by her comments. I didn't realize she went as far as preparing to launch a campaign against gay marriage. I think that was a poor decision. If people didn't view her as bigoted as first this will definitely make people think otherwise. It also comes across almost as if she is thumbing her nose at everyone because they slammed her views.
I am not sure if there is a hypocrisy there between her and Moakler only because it states she violated her contract. I don't really follow these pageants, but it seems these women are looked to as some sort of ambassadors so my guess is their contracts may prevent them from associating with hateful groups. So I can see why there is an issue with her associating with an anti-gay marriage group while its acceptable for Moakler to be associated with pro-gay rights groups.
Part of me thinks Moakler needs to get over herself, but I guess I can kind of see where she is coming from if this girl violates her contract basically associating with a bigoted group and gets to stick around anyway.
As for the photos, I am not sure they are just to embarrass her due to her views. I am sure it makes her more of a target, but they likely would have been leaked even if this controversy didn't happen and she won the pageant.
I agree about it having to be political.

Why did they switch to corn syrup? Is it cheaper?
I will try this Pepsi throwback though I am a diet soda drinker.
I don't get why they changed the packaging. Is changing the logo to some goofy smileys really going to get more people to buy it?

Awesome if true!

The problem is, the show is becoming more and more accepted in the music world because it gets such huge ratings. When it first came out lots of musicians couldn't stand it. As you pointed out, there are numerous struggling musicians, while these kids just walk off the street and get a shot at a guaranteed recording contract. It's a slap in the face to legitimate music veterans across the land. But now successful musicians go on the show for promotion and exposure because it's a ratings monster. It's a case of, if you can't beat'em, join'em. I'm holding strong though, I refuse to join them. I still hate the show and everything it stands for.
Excellent post. I especially agree with the bolded. I've never once watched Idol and I'm not planning on starting, not even to see Slash.

Grilled chicken can be seasoned just like any other food to enhance the flavor. This didn't seem to have any seasoning.

I just tried the grilled chicken. For me it was just okay. It is really soft and moist, but it wasn't seasoned well. I thought it was a bit bland. The left the thigh on the grill too long because the top was hard and unedible. I'm a small person with a small appetite, but I thought the chicken seemed kind of small.
I don't think I'll be going back to KFC in the future. It's alright if you want a quick meal, but I prefer to grill up my own chicken.

It's supposed to be safe to eat pork. It's being transmitted from human to human contact.
The biggest difference between the regular flu and the swine flu is the swine flu is killing young and otherwise healthy people which is not the case for the regular flu. With the regular flu it's the elderly and extremely young children that are most at risk to die.

I'm sorry, but this stuff isn't really that scary. It's more of a media thing right now than anything.
Those deaths don't equal how many people die of the regular flu each year, and yet we don't shut down our border to that.
Similar things happened with bird flu that are happening with swine flu.
Not really. The big difference with the bird flu is that so far it cannot be transmitted from human to human although there is always the possibility that it will eventually mutate. The swine flu can be transmitted human to human which makes it a more serious threat. It's just ignorant to write it off because of the bird flu when they aren't the same thing.
