Is this the first time Jarmo got a shout out? I'm not sure how I feel about that.
No, he got a shoutout at RIR3 in 2001 and I think at least one other time but don't quote me on the latter.
The guy travels with the band and has for years so it's not surprising and I personally don't care.

In a brand new chat... Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal was asked if he has heard the "new" GN'R song "Absurd". He responded:
"I have. I remember the song from when I was laying guitar parts for the ['Chinese Democracy'] album. I laid some parts for it back then. And, of course, they've all been replaced — I'm not in the band. Slash should be on there, of course, doing all the leads and stuff. So, yeah, I heard it. And it was pretty cool hearing him on there doing his thing. It definitely made it feel more like what it is — like a band."

This confirms Ron worked on "Absurd" fka. "Silkworms" in 2006-2008.
You could go full legalese here and say "worked on" =/= "done" but I think it more or less confirms Silkworms and Atlas were in play for the album in 2008 and in all likelihood another whole album was ready at this time for "same time same bat channel" in 2009.

Who's still listening to it?
It gets 1 workout play and 1 leisure play a day.
I dig it but it needs 2-3 other songs to go along with it so you can get into the groove.
When you start feeling it, it's over.

This album is great.
Worth listening to for its tangential relation to Chinese Democracy, aka Ulrich is the artist that GnR accidentally ripped off with its Riad and the Bedouins intro. The track in question is “Wherever You Are”.
But it’s more worth listening to simply because it’s a great record.

80s romantics fail to remember how they were constantly apart even through the recording of Appetite and as soon as they had enough cheese they went their own separate ways.
Anyway, release a new album. The wait has become a tedious bore.
