Inner city schools (logically thinking) aren't as well funded as suburban schools.

This is a big topic in Chicago because the city is so segregated.

This reminds me of a couple months of my life in 1982.

The summer of 1982 was spent in Texas and then Arkansas. We moved back to Cali just in time for school.

Instead of staying at my grandma's house until we could find a decent place, we moved to this one bedroom dump(me, my mom & dad). Started school a couple days later.

7 year old me was in a state of shock. I was one of the only white kids at this school. I didn't fit in and that's putting it mildly.

On top of that, the school itself sucked. Trash everywhere, it needed a paint job for starters, the teachers were terrible, etc

It was hell on Earth. I also couldn't play outside when it got dark.

We moved and things went back to normal.

It was when I was older that I realized it was like that because it was the west side of Modesto.... literally the worst area of town and one of the worst in the entire central valley.

It also brings up questions mentioned in this thread....

WHY does it have to be like that? Why are other schools in this district amazing (and clean) yet this one is left to rot? Why isn't the trash being picked up....such a simple task.

Why is the crime rate in these neighborhoods so horrific? I don't buy the poor excuse. There's countless millions of poor white people. I've lived in many poor neighborhoods....none of them compare to the west side.

Questions like that have to be answered before any of this stuff can improve.

The problem is (this is going to sound familiar) you have the extreme on one end that has no interest in solving it because they don't give a damn and you have the extreme at the other end that has no interest in solving it because it is their whole identity.  None of the things going on today are about solving anything; they are about making sure things don't change.

Where are all these racial and homophobic slurs I keep hearing about?

If you're referring to fag....that has always been a more general insult and not specifically aimed at homosexuals.

"He likes the Spice Girls? What a fag..."

Like that.

I haven't seen a racial slur since the chat room in 2007....and even that one was a tad overblown and missing context.

You would've hated the old version of the site....and this one when it was really active 10-12 years ago.

It was like the wild west in comparison to today.

Mitch may have deleted his racial slur when he caught hell from several people including people he considered friends.  He called me a cocksucker several pages back...if I was threatening him (as he alleges), that's absolutely a homophobic slur.

The issue with mitch isn't even the slurs to me...it's that he makes no effort to better the discussion.  All he does is bitch about trump and/or attack people that don't agree 100% with what he says.  Give him a chance to participate outside of this thread in a subject he should care about and not a peep because he knows he can't troll there.

Mitch is a troll...that's it.  The next original thought he has will be his first.

I've advocated for closing this thread for years now. That's the nicest solution. Mitch can't be mitch anywhere else, so just closing this thread will solve a lot of problems.

We will also learn joe Biden’s son finds terrorism with the money he ‘stole’ in Eastern Europe.

One thing we will always know is that the deplorables will never have a problem with Trump overtly soliciting foreign countries for political help.

It’s interesting how one could be bothered by Russia hacking our Corona info but not have a problem with hacking Hillary’s emails.

I must be missing a lot of posts somehow.  I haven't seen anything like this.  Going to need to send a ticket to admin.

For someone who wants 'less government oversight' you sure do alotta reporting to the admins.

I'm done playing with mitch.  Every time he's being a douche and not contributing to the conversation, he's getting reported.  I posted here that I was going to do it; I'm going to continue to do it.  Eventually they'll get tired of him or tired of me and either way my problem will be solved.

Bullshit. Complete bullshit. Leaving it up to the governors is exactly why this failed. Remember, it originally was in a select few regions, Seattle, SF, LA & NYC. Not coincidental, the cities with probably the higher asian & chinese populations who likely traveled internationally. trump originally tried to fight it, naming pence his covid ambassador. Then, once it became apparent it was going to be big, and a tough fight, he quit. He deflected all blame, made his escape, and said its up to the governors. Which is exactly the opposite of what needed to be done. Theres too much domestic travel to not need Federal & CDC oversight. The texas governor has no control over people coming in or out of his state, neither does florida etc.. The 3 biggest failing states, Fl, TX, & AZ all have GOP governors too I believe, so its a double failure for republicans.

trump passed the buck onto governors because this ended all reelection chances period.

And theres less deaths because less people die of the flu in the summertime. People "catch" the flu all year round, but dont have symptoms or rarely get sick. Its why "the flu" comes back every winter. It doesnt go away, it doesnt disappear. It doesnt follow people to wintertime down below the equator, then follow people back north in November. Its here. I have it, you get it, Mitch gets it etc. We just dont get as sick so often. Sometimes people do but its more rare.

This winters going to be a plague and you'll be scared how many will die. This government is lying to us, its going to be Wuhan/Italy/Spain for months.

So now it's just the flu?  Interesting pivot.

Its a brand new flu. Which means we'll have double the amount of flu deaths and sicknesses. Likely more. Enjoy your days off when your sick as shit.

So we went from certain death to now it's just the flu.  Noted.  For months it was death, death, death - we're all going to die if we don't shut the world down.  Now it's meh, it's just another flu like H1N1 was eventually considered to be.

I haven't taken a sick day since my appendix burst over 20 years ago.  If I survived that, trust me my immune system is (or at least was before we were forced to stay in) quite strong.  I work from home, so it's no big deal to work when I have the flu.  I'm far more worried about what happens if my wife gets this (though we believe she had it last year) than I am if I get it.

I wasn't scared of how many people died this time around...I don't think you're suddenly going to scare me by lumping in the flu/pneumonia deaths with it.  People die every year.  Almost all of them are immuno-compromised.  Why am I going to be scared next year when I know it's coming?  I don't watch MSM.  Not CNN, not Fox, not whatever other thing you want to throw in unless NBC News is on while cooking dinner after running over from the local news.  It's all bullshit and I don't care what their latest fear-mongering reports are.  I'm just not interested.  So safe to assume the fear level will be low.  Thanks for your concern though.

Protect the at risk.  I've been saying it since day one and I'll continue to say it.  All the data says it.  Yes, random people outside of that die occasionally.  We will all die eventually.  Live life to the fullest; enjoy what you have.  If you live your whole life afraid, you're not really living.  That doesn't mean be reckless, it just means don't stop living out of fear.

I can’t wait for another riveting analysis where you pour through numbers and discredit them based on personal bias.

I prefer facts, I'll leave the personal bias to you.

I've never said it was a hoax.  The virus is legit; the response not so much.  But this isn't on the President; it's on the governors who are responsible for their states.  Now they have resorted to counting the same person testing positive in a short time period multiple cases instead of one because the numbers aren't scary enough.  People aren't dying, so now all the other symptoms are suddenly the new rage.  How can you not be paying attention to any of this and just be going along for the ride not questioning anything but the scary orange guy?  That's fucked up bro.

Lol, ok pal.

We could have option A: Hillary running for re-election with an economy full steam ahead versus a competant Republican candidate

or option B: Trumptard with 13 million unemployed, a collapsed economy propped up by free paychecks with no chance of re-election thankfully, vs Biden.

Dont cry after shitting the bed you sleep in!

LOL - your Orange Man Bad blinders are in high gear.

The ONLY way the economy is in high gear with Hillary is if Covid doesn't happen...so are you saying that Covid wouldn't have happened with Hillary?  Interesting take...you sound like one of those batshit crazy conspiracy people.
