I glad he won, but let's hope he does a good job.  He needs to.

Good thing is you have both now! Brian May will survive one way or another.....

But the demo is a crappy low-bitrate version!  I need more quality! 18

It doesn't do anything to hurt it either. the new solo is amlost exactly the same as the old one.

I really can't agree there, the notes might be the same or similar, but the feel and tone is quite different.  Brian May just had the perfect touch, IMO.  The new version isn't bad, and it sounds closer to the other tracks, but I greatly prefer the original.

Has anyone else picked up on the similarities from Phantom Lights on Bermuda Triangle with the solo from There Was A Time?  Not identical, but the same sort of structure and some of the same licks!

He's not the only one 17

I wish Brian May would be a little less nice and respectful (considering Axl had no respect by not even thanking him) and leak the original catcher though!

Me too, I felt so sorry for Felipe, I'm not sure he'll get many other chances to win the WDC.
But you can't say it wasn't exciting!

paul Tobias is fucking GNR which is why we have a tremendous lack of kick ass guitar riffs etc.

So true...it seems like Axl wanted layers and layers of guitars to make up for the fact that they were all just power chords - Case in point the new Catcher in the Rye.

I'm not a fan of his, but I'm quite surprised that Finck did relatively little, writing wise, considering he was around since 1996.  People were always saying he'd be crucial to the album.  Maybe he came up with stuff that Axl didn't like or keep - No wonder he left for NIN!

I think Kimi Raikkonen is thanked because he invited Axl to the british grand prix in 2006...Axl even thanks some of the hotels he stayed in!

It's quite disappointing that most of the tracks seem to have been finished in 2001/02 though, as others have said the only additions seem to have been to fit new members on.  This sort of thing only makes the 02-08 delay even more inexplicable.

I also noted 'mixed by Andy Wallace, Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo' and then 'final mixing by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo'.  Guess Axl thought Wallace's mixes weren't confusing enough and put a few more layers in hmm

I really hope the '99 version of Catcher in the Rye leaks in higher quality.  Why the hell did Axl take Brian May off the album?  It can't be because it was old, all his own vocals are from about ten years ago!
