Okay, here's the 1988 interview:

Rapidshare must have changed their download terms, because it says that it can only be downloaded 10 times. If this runs out, I'll just upload it again somewhere else.

If you have a demonoid account, you can download the torrent here:

I'm downloading it now, when I'm done I'll see if I can snip out just the Axl Rose parts and maybe put it up on rapidshare.

looks like this Kerrang paragraph was bogus

14 Yeah, looks like they pulled fake song titles out of a hat. We'll probably edit out the trash from sections in that sidebar.

the sidebar has been edited to include all the info Axl gave us on the weekend, i kept the bogus titles though just to keep a record...also motor mouth was a bunch of bullshit like i originally thought, and the rumored Dizzy frathouse party interview

also in the threads for the individual titles i've included any info he gave us...for now i'm going on the assumption that the "checkmate" clip is "the general" who knows how true that is though

I'd always figured those titles from the Kerrang article were bullshit, simply because not a single one has ever been confirmed anywhere else. Plus, Kerrang is the same magazine that about 10 years ago published that Nine Inch Nails was releasing an album called "Impossible Pain" along with a remix album called "Improbable Pain" which supposedly had mixes by brother Bob Reznor and a homeless guy Trent found in an alley behind the studio. Only one problem - the information was lifted straight off of a web page that was intended as a parody. If Kerrang had bothered to do any fact checking, they would have quickly found out that it was all bullshit. Obviously, Kerrang's source for the GNR tracks was just as credible.

This is really cool that he'd come on the message boards and directly answer fans' questions. Hopefully if he does this again soon, they'll set it up with the boards in advance and he can take questions and answer them at his own pace. The think I never liked about online chats is that there's a thousand people all at once trying to toss questions to one person, and usually a lot of stupid questions and comments are the ones that get through.

Hmmm.... I wonder if Imposter's IP address is the same as this Dexter's?

I would like to know about when track listing became final, and if songs that leaked played a role in choosing the tracklist (finding it suspicious that everything that leaked was on CD and yet there's another album + of material).

IRS, TWAT, Better, Maddy, SOD, Rhiad, Chi Dem, I think those songs leaked because they always were at the core of CD. Alternate mixes were made, submitted to record company people, etc. because this was the stuff that had been A-listed for the first CD for a long time. The stuff for album #2 or #3 probably hasn't leaked because they hadn't felt the need to share it with industry people yet.

#145 Re: Guns N' Roses » Time magazine makes fun of the saga » 863 weeks ago

To be fair, this was taken from a full page of political cartoons. It shouldn't be taken too seriously, even if the joke falls a bit flat to the hardcores like us. At least it's one more little way of getting the word out that Chinese Democracy has been released.

#146 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Among Rolling Stone's Best Album Covers of 2008 » 863 weeks ago

Wow, judging from that list, 2008 has been a shitty year for album covers.

#147 Re: Guns N' Roses » Better Official Single 12/02/08 » 864 weeks ago

Some of these stations that are still going strong with Chinese Democracy may simply not be ready to put a second GNR single into heavy rotation yet. Let's hope that when CD runs out of steam that they won't forget about Better.

#148 Re: Guns N' Roses » NIN imploding? Finck coming back? (NOPE!) » 864 weeks ago

I'm just pissed the NIN tour never came through Wisconsin. The closest they came was Lollapalooza, but I just wanted to see NIN, not a hundred and fifty other bands. I was holding out hope that they'd come back on a second leg of the tour in 2009, but it looks like that ain't gonna happen.

Wouldn't it be funny if Freese and Finck both wound up back in GNR for 2009?

#149 Re: Guns N' Roses » What did you expect? » 864 weeks ago

I was thinking the same thing today about releasing the separate tracks and letting the fans make their own mixes. Reznor has done this for his last three albums, and there are literally thousands of fan mixes of his songs out there now. Imagine what you could do with all the different variations that would go into a Chinese Democracy song. Do you use Freese, Brain, or Frank's tracks? Finck, Bucket, or Bumble's solos? Do you push the strings higher into the mix to accentuate the melody, or emphasize the guitars? The possibilities would be endless.

And speaking of GNR fan mixes, I'm really diggin' the Shackler's Revenge Club Mix by Imsorry. I think I like it better than the original.

We all know how it's fared on the national charts, but does anyone know how well it compares to how many units of other CDs that Best Buy sold this week? I mean, has ChiDem outsold Kanye at Best Buy at least?
