I miss "What can I do/With a bitch like you?" sad Put that back in the studio version, it's much better than just shouting "Absurd" over and over.

I wouldn’t mind a mix of the two.

Kinda annoyed they lost "A bitch like you." That was the best bit of the song! Still though. Who had "Slash playing Silkworms" on their bingo card?

I was never a fan of the song, but I miss that part too. I can’t tell if that’s because I liked it or I’m just more familiar with it though. I’ll let it sink in for a bit.

Any chance Axl sticks around Boston to join Billy Joel onstage again tonight at Fenway?

That’s not surprising. Hell, we’re sort of saying the same thing. Out of all the songs, they go with that one? They don’t give a shit about reviews I guess. Like when they played Riff Raff or The Seeker and everyone shit on them for it. They liked playing those song for themselves. Probably the same thing here. He obviously has a good sense of humor about it. Hopefully Hard School is soon to follow, that should get a better reaction I would think.

Weird.....we've entered the twilight zone.

Silkworms...of all songs....is now relevant in the GNR world in 2021.

I still can't believe I'm actually hearing it.

Something is happening. He introduced the damn thing for crying out loud. They could've just quietly squeezed it in between other songs.

What's next....Oh My God?!?

Obviously Hardschool is next......I just want to know where they're really going with this.

If an album really is coming...I'm ready to join the street team!!

Yeah, I didn’t see that at first but he mentioned how it was a new song at the beginning and end. It’s a nice short song at least so people can’t get too bored. By the time they analyze and figure out what the hell is going on, the song is over.

Yeah, none of it makes any sense. Let’s just roll with it. Ha!

Intriguing indeed.

I think it's clear we are getting a new album but it seems it also seems pretty clear it's going to be reworked Chinese Leftovers... I'll take it

of all the songs to re-work, they went with silkworms? fucking awesome, but still... this is totally unexpected. fuck it!

It is absurd, pardon the pun. I was never a huge fan of the song and while it certainly sounded a little different, I still don’t love it. But it’s awesome to see them actually play something new. I’m sure the crowd was like WTF though. Such an odd choice, but I’ll take it.

Streams are cutting in and out, but this one is up for now.

Good to be back James. In the process of moving so things are a little hectic right now. But I’m glad there’s something more substantial to talk about for sure.

That performance of CD sounded pretty tight. Maybe he strained his voice after that? Or he just chooses to sing with his low register on that song only? Or he picks and chooses, but he certainly sounded better on that one the entire song, instead of spotty in others. Hopefully they’re a little tighter tomorrow and show some improvement. A friend of mine snagged a free ticket, so I’m a little jealous. But with the move and all the craziness (and lack of changes in the show), it just wasn’t at the top of my priority list this time around. Tickets ain’t cheap.

At least it's not as bad as him storming off stage for forgetting the lyrics to Patience or ending the show over sound issues. It could be as simple that he's convinced himself he needs to sing a certain way to preserve his voice. Maybe the rasp took it out of him. Thing is, he's fully capable of putting on a great vocal performance.

And I would wager Axl's lifestyle is very, very, very expensive, and he's taking care of a lot of people. Before the reunion he was doing commercials and licensing his music to everything, something he didn't do before. Money is a motivator. And if he's punching a time card on stage, I can understand why he's not releasing anything.

Agreed. If there was a plan to focus on new music and tour around that in late 2019, that obviously changed when the whole world stopped. The money from touring stopped pouring in, so this is the obvious way to recoup some of that. I’ve listened to other artists (Dave Grohl) talk about losing millions from not touring. I’m not suggesting anyone feel sorry for them, but it is a factor when you’re used to pulling in that money and you rely on it.

And everybody’s priorities changed. It became about survival for a lot of people. (For) now, people are free to do things they weren’t able to do for over a year, like go to concerts. A vast majority of people going to concerts could care less about hearing new music. This has always been the case, but even more so now.

Obviously for those of us who have been following this saga for so long, we have a different viewpoint and expectations. And that’s fine, but I’m viewing this tour as returning to normalcy. I know we’re always coming up with excuses as to why they aren’t moving forward and this could certainly fall under that category, but I think it’s legitimate. I do think they’ll play “Hard School” and “Pretty Tied Up” is on the set list too I believe. But that’s all I’d expect in terms of changes or additions.

Accepting this performance as anything more than the shit show that it is, simply because shows are back again, is part of the problem.

If any other stadium level band played this bad, I’d call them out on it too. Motley Crüe with Vince Neil comes to mind.

I didn’t think it was as bad as many have expressed. I guess I’m in the minority here, but I didn’t think Axl sounded much different than he has in recent years. Missing parts in Dead Horse and missing his spot/singing during Slash’s solo. That wasn’t good. Can’t argue with that. And the no scream at the beginning of Jungle, maybe he just missed the mark and decided to go on? Other than that, he seemed pretty much the same. And to me, Slash looked solid and into it. He concentrates on playing the guitar, but I don’t view that as being disinterested.

I know this is just one review, but it is overall a positive one.

This is more about concerts coming back and the reviewer doesn’t seem to know GNR very well, but he gave a positive review too.

Dead Horse debuted in 2019 and has been played in every show since, including all five of the last 2019 shows, and both 2020 shows. It cannot be considered an addition at this point. Maybe if it was played sporadically like Locomotive, but that's not the case.

I didn’t follow the shows that closely the last few years, but that’s 7 times they’ve played it so I’d still consider it somewhat of a new addition.
