Axl on joe rogan would be good cos its the kind of long-form show where Axl would get a chance to express himself properly and he wouldn't have to worry about joe trying to manipulate it into controversy.

IIRC though...I think somewhere Axl said something like he won't publish his book cos it might re-ignite trouble with the band who are currently on the same page. I imagine this kinda thing could be similar...like if he is asked about why the band originally broke up or whatever...how can he answer without potentially offending slash/duff all over again etc. Same reason they don't like to talk about stuff from the past too much either.

But I would love a good Axl hang out on rogan. That chat he did on Trunk with Baz and jerrico back in 2006 or whenever was one of the cool Axl moments. Really showed off the jovial intelligent fun side of his personality, which made a great counter point to all the 'angry' axl moments that are so well publicised in the press.

I guess Tom first said that they sounded like AFD then said about unreleased AFD tracks. But when you think CD stuff is from 30 years ago....maybe he just ment the unreleased CD era tracks sound like AFD stuff with Slash/Duff. Put that with a song or two from the olden days and it would make sense.

We spent time with Manny Charlton from Nazareth. He came over because we were thinking bout having him produce the record. We were in the studio for two and a half days and we did everything live. We recorded 25 or 30 tunes. We never did anything with that album but we have the masters to it. It's something where we'll go back and pick through it. A lot of the stuff that comes out when your just jamming as a band is the best.

That is interesting.

I guess my reason for doubting it is the way Slash took the 5'oclock riffs and made an album out of them straight away when there was dispute in GNR, and then he used VR demo riffs again when he first launched his post VR solo career.  He also used riffs he had jammed with izzy in VR despite izzy leaving. So it seems odd that he would ignore stuff he had written for GNR for nearly 40 years....especially in the context of how he has more than 8 non GNR records under his belt....that's a lot of riffs.

On the other hand...I would believe if there were AFD demos around that Axl might have left them alone for a rainy day....as his late 1990s interests seemed to be more along the lines of stuff like OMG and Silkworms rather than revisiting the early sound...and I think he alluded somewhere that they had some heavy afd type stuff around but he couldn't get slash to like it....(could be a misquote...i'm absentminded these days)

Also...you'd think Tom Mayhue would know his stuff......then again who knows....like even out of the CD songs who knows which ones were old at the time...certainly TIL seems pretty old.....anyways....i'd like to hear anything else they have really.

Between that...the way Aint Life Grand was repackaged when it wasn't used....how Ghost came from a VR demo....I don't think Slash sits on stuff the way Axl does....it makes me wonder about this concept of an unused 1987 GNR record that they are said to be finishing up now. I'd believe maybe a song or two dates from then....but I don't buy slash was sitting on an AFD2 worth of riffs for the past 9 albums given how he remakes good ideas when people won't listen to him.

Snakepit 2 was an acquired taste to me, because Snakepit 1 was one of my favourite albums ever. So initially I was sort of disappointed because it's so different. However it grows on you. There's a real funky kinda jazzy vibe with it in places, and some very good bluesy slash playing. But its less GNR sounding than Snakepit1 which instrumentally is a defaco afd style album to me so when it first came out it kinda threw me a little.

I prey it's still happening for the NA tour.

I feel they do care or they wouldn't mix up the set, and they wouldn't have done absurd/hardskool.

We know the material is good.

It is possible they're waiting to make it into an album, but I hope not cos i'm getting old lol.

Same thing almost happened with neill blomkamp's proposed alien movie. Someone leaked some of the pre-development visualisation and the world went nuts, fox started ramping up to make it...then Ridley Scott kinda pushed against it cos he was working on other stuff.

At this stage I think leaks would make us go nuts. Can't see it getting mainstream attention though there's just so much noise. Unless it was absolutely mind blowing music. But even then...would be a cult thing.

The professional management was trying to force a reunion. It would be interesting to see how they would fair now their interests are more aligned with the band.

I will give team brazil that they kept Axl alive. If you go back and watching him in videos from 1992 - he doesn't look like a guy that will still be with us in 2023.

I do wish they had let slash in back in 2005 though..if the band had sorted out it's drama then instead of 10 years later....a lot of the prime years of everyone were spent on side projects.

Excited for this compared to another SMKC album.

I loved the SMKC project in the beginning, but the second two albums were not as good as the first two, and I feel it could use a break to freshen up before it's next outing.

I've always thought slash could retire from rock into the blues scene if he wanted to. There's stuff around from the UYI tour and the Slash's Blues Ball era where he does some amazingly soulful playing. It's hidden by his rock facade, but I suspect slash is secretly one of the greatest blues players of recent years.

I think it adds up in an approximation kind of way.

Like when he said 6 he might have meant 5. Or like maybe he means it's been 6 years since they made a record and this is all they got even if it was written last week.

All it needs is one song that was from around 1991 that Axl had been fooling with but not ready for UYI and it would be made legit.

I remember TSI was expanded from an EP to an Album to buy time to create a new album....wouldn't surprise me if there were licks and half done ideas from that sort of time frame waiting. Like write a melody idea one night in the hotel on the road...develop it casually over years....boom it's 6 years on when moby hits it.
