Yeah...itunes is cool for the ease of getting stuff that is otherwise hard to find. I use it...but I would prefer they had a lossless audio option (i'd gladly pay more for it even) as the standard bit rates and even the itunes plus are a bit light on for me.

I'll definately buy SR though in any format. I'd love to see a CD single!

I'll be pretty pissed if the only option is lossy audio.  bleh.

I know they still sell lots of CD singles over here in Tokyo, but are they still big in the rest of the world?  I was under the impression that they'd pretty much died out.

By the way, it has to be said.  Whiskey In The Morning...  Fantastic Band Name.

And it's a way of life.

Hahaha.  My previous band was called Bender.  We picked that for similar reasons and it seemed to fit the fact that we played covers in bars and most of us were as wasted as the crowd by the last set.  Unfortunately, when playing in some of the British Pubs here, we found out that the word had a completely different slang meaning in Brit English. yikes

No shit on the drummer deal too. I'd love to have likeminded individuals around to drum and play bass.... and not get deported... and so on...

I hear ya there.  It's hard enough to find people on the same ability level and with the same taste.  It's even worse when you have to deal with people leaving the country or leaving the band cause they did something silly like get married.  tongue

As much as I'd love to get another band together and start gigging again, I just don't have the time or energy to go through the whole member search thing right now.

Funny that he bitches about fans because they "don't want to know the truth", then immediately proceeds to running around in his own circles.

James, you know I have utmost respect for ya, but I think you're dishonestly taking this quote out of context.  Is it any wonder nobody wants to talk when their every word gets disected and often twisted out of context.

Do you read some of the things that are printed about him and think, "What a load of shit"?
All the time. It makes me laugh. But people don't want the truth. They want to be entertained. They invent things, or they embellish. Anything to feed the fire. Some of them are definitely trying live vicariously.

He said this in direct response to a question about the things that are said about Axl.  He also says later that he does blame the fans for wanting to know stuff and for wanting to hear the new music.   I always found Ron to be a really down-to-earth guy and I think maybe he identifies with us more than any of the other members or band staff.  As a musician and lover of music, he gets why we jump on leaks and are so rabid to find out anything we can.  However, he is also a professional in a professional role.  He has responsibilities to the band and has to balance that with his urge to "brighten[ing] someone's day by shooting them a message if they're written."

Maybe I'm being too naive or too optimistic, but at least in this interview, I took his comments to mean that something really is on the verge of starting and any secrecy or dodging of questions that he did was because he is also excited and doesn't want to ruin the excitement to come.

Not particularly - that I know of anyway.

I guess I've got something to look into now.  The actual physical material might be better, but I'm somewhat doubtful about the sound quality being better.  Not to get too much into geeky audiophile talk, but in my experience with ripping CDs over here, I've found that many Japanese pressings of CDs tend to be normalized to sound "louder".  With some older CDs that were mastered at a very low level, this isn't necessarily always a bad thing.  However, I've seen a bunch that are so overmastered that they basically have no dynamic range and the peaks clip out and distort.

That being said, it's possible that these Super High Material (haha so Japanese) CDs are actually re-mastered in a good way.  I'll see what I can find out.

Yeah, we kinda had to use the drum machine for now. That will be replaced with an actual person sooner then later, 16 .

The second half vocals are going to get a second (third or fourth as well) take ASAP.

I thought about this post afterwards and I hope it didn't come off like I was ragging on ya.  I've attempted this song in karaoke a few times, and it's definitely hard to do it justice.  You did good!

Too bad I'm on the other side of the world.  I'm anxious to replace somebody's drum machine again. big_smile

and with no release date for the album just reeks of a test the waters scenario.

If Rock Band 2 comes out with Shackler and there isn't a CD release already set, that's exactly what this is.

Like I said in an earlier post, we're gonna know in a few short weeks how Axl feels about this current lineup and we're gonna find out if all Azoff could pry out of Axl's hands is one song.

If Azoff cant get this album on store shelves, NOBODY can.

With the game's released date such a short time away, I really don't think there's anyway that it will be released without Shackler or with something else in its place.  There's just too much time and money that would be involved in a last minute change like that, and Harmonix likely has enough on their late with last minute details and bug fixes.

The only scenario I could see for it not being on the game is if they had planned for that possibility all along and possibly had Jungle or something ready as plan B.  But if that were the case and there was doubt about it actually being on there, I doubt they would've made such a big deal of it when talking about the game at E3.

Not a bad pic, but not having Bucket defeats the purpose of the whole thing. Yeah, lets not include the main guy from the sessions.

Nesquick probably made that.

Woulda been cool if Bucket had been standing in the background like he wasn't wanted at the table.

Maybe Buckethead is "god" and his all-encompassing presence is implied.  cool

I dunno.   A small group of people couldn't get the Watergate shit a secret, and yet now they're claiming that all the goverments of the world have been hiding this for 60 years?  I don't buy it.

Goverments can't agree on stuff enough for us all to stop bombing and shooting the shit out of each other and yet somehow they all have this happy agreement to stay hush hush about the little green men.  2
