I thought there was some kind of loophole in stereo/radio songs on stuff like that?

I mean come on, how many amateur YouTube geeks post videos of their opinions with background music.

I posted one of my cat with beyonce on radio in background and it got their 'attention'

I'm not sure whats worse.. posting videos of your cat or thinking that its OK to post videos of your cat

Yeah, he is over-subscribed - but, y'know, he could jack in his solo project and just do LP and VR. Someone like him fronting the band would be big news and would generate fucktons of press interest, in a way that Myles fronting VR wouldn't.

dont underestimate myles AB III is about to go through the roof

I find the production on AFD's a bit dated; the drums in particular. I can't explain exactly what it is about those drums, but there's something, some reverb or the way they've been mic'ed up that makes them sound very, very 80s. It doesn't help that the album's never been properly remastered to give it a bit more punch. I'd be fascinated to hear the 1999 AFD redux - it's the thing I'm most curious about from the Chinese Democracy sessions. I'd even, I think, take a leak of that over a leak of Checkmate.

Of all the albums, the one that sounds least dated is the acoustic portion of Lies - probably because it's difficult for a stripped-down acoustic track to date.

UYI hasn't dated nearly as badly as AFD, IMO. It feels a bit redolent of the early 90s in places, but that's probably just my mind free-associating when I hear it, and conjuring up memories of Nintendo and Terminator 2 and Slash in plaid shirts.

The Spaghetti Incident... well, let's just say that Izzy's absence really makes that album suffer. I'd love to hear the original mixes, with Izzy in place of Gilby.

The jury's still out on Chinese Democracy, really. I think it sounds very of the moment, though - which is interesting, given that it was recorded over the course of a decade.

I read a fan at the front had a sign asking for Catcher, glad to see it back!! I dunno why they dont mix up songs more often, it must be more interesting for them surely?

Probably but they are playing to their audience, us fan boys want catcher and prostitute and twat, but the guys who see the ad in the paper and buy a ticket want sweet child paradise city, if they're into new guns they want better and believe it or not sorry (all my casual fan friends love sorry anyway)

If I die tomorrow was written by simple plan heres the SOLA credits :

Sixx, Michael, Ashba, Frederiksen.

Hate to have to state the obvious dude, but in a post original GNR world EVERY guitarist is a Slash wannabe he is one of the most influential guitarists of all time.
You'd be hard pressed to get a guy who isn't influenced heavily by slash

thats a definition of progressive the word...but prog rock is something entirely different

Progressive rock bands pushed "rock's technical and compositional boundaries" by going beyond the standard rock or popular verse-chorus-based song structures. The Oxford Companion to Music states that progressive rock bands "...explored extended musical structures which involved intricate instrumental patterns and textures and often esoteric subject matter." Additionally, the arrangements often incorporated elements drawn from classical, jazz, and world music. Instrumentals were common, while songs with lyrics were sometimes conceptual, abstract, or based in fantasy. Progressive rock bands sometimes used "concept albums that made unified statements, usually telling an epic story or tackling a grand overarching theme."  Progressive rock developed from late 1960s psychedelic rock, as part of a wide-ranging tendency in rock music of this era to draw inspiration from ever more diverse influences.

dreamtheater is prog rock...prog metal to be precise...Rush is also prog rock...i definately wouldnt classify SG (Grunge) nor NIN (Industrial) as being progressive rock

You probably got a point but all it does is highlight the absolute bullshit state of modern music, when music that is in no way "progressive" is termed progressive and sold to the masses as such.

Makes sense.

Any hardcore Dream Theater fan I know loves to talk about how "progressive" Dream Theater are. As though they are more intelligent because they identify with progressive music while the rest of the masses are trapped listening to non progressive shit...... Ironic that in reality the music isn't actually progressing.

I have a big problem with a classic rock band being termed progressive. Official terminology aside. Fuck that shit.

To be honest the most progressive thing Mike Portnoy ever did was to leave Dream Theter

Not a second of it. It was dated before it got released, not to mention the uninspired songwriting. OMG 18

haha. You think theres any music released mainstream today that isn't dated? Really?
Every fucking rock band got the same old Guitar Bass Drum set-up, every idea for a song at this point has been covered. Every note played.

There is no music that isn't dated. The basic building blocks of rock music have been around since the time of Mozart.

It's all dated.
