The entire lineup of Chickenfoot couldn't hold Cornell's jockstrap. Haven't heard the whole album yet, but the song I heard was typical Hagar cheese dipped in mediocrity.

Interesting you say that James, as the "BadMotorFinger" Soundgarden title was an homage to Hagar's "BadmotorScooter" in Montrose, and Chris Cornell has openly admitted that Hagar was one of his big influences.

Listen to the old Montrose CD's and then listen to Cornell's singing in Soundgarden.  It's almost a tribute.

I know, I know...Hagar is huge cheese at times, and his lyrics are HORRIBLE, and I don't like alot of his work, but I think this stuff is good.
Not groundbreaking, but really a pleasant surprise for Van Halen/Hagar fans, given the less then musically inspiring solo career the guy was having post VH, and the subpar output on the last several VH written collaborations with any singer. (For the past 13 years!!!)

I agree the first single was a bit standard, but there is some good deeper cuts on this one.

The sound on it also doesn't sound compressed, digital, and shitty, it sounds warm and the band really is the best part.

Give a few tracks a listen.

Of course another spin on this article is it was an intentional leak from Azoff's camp.  He then gets off scott free for any responsibility for fact that CD's release ended up looking like a dogs breakfast.

By getting in first and also throwing in the comment about Axl's mental illness people automatically assume "poor Azoff how did he possibly manage to work with that crazy guy, he must have had the patience of a saint..." etc etc

He can then walk away from the whole clusterfuck with his professional reputation intact and a cool $2M.  Axl is left sitting at home with only $1M from the saga and a career sitting on a knifes edge.

My take on it is there is probably blame on both sides for the shithouse way CD came out and how it was handled.  It's certainly not all Azoff's fault by any stretch of the imagination, but at the same time I doubt all the blame is Axl's either.  I'm sure there are simply too many people with their own agendas around Axl that he doesn't know which way to move or who to trust, consequently he becomes almost paralysed unable to move, trying second and third guess every decision before he makes it.  He then ends up making no decision.

While I agree that this "COULD" be the scenario, it's doubtful.

When there is money to be made, Azoff doesn't fuck up.

Axl, on the other hand, pretty much fucks up everything he sees, smells, hears and touches.

Glad to see you are enjoying it.

I think it's fucking great.

Let's see if that asshole Eddie even has it in him to write something half this good.

This is GREAT news on a Sunday morning.

I think we all needed some new "Axl is an asshole/idiot" material.

Personally, I'm going to take the "get the sand out of your vadge, Axl." angle.

Thanks!

I'm sorry PaSnow, I believe what I said, but really wasn't very clear about was it was the best album "not" released in 1992....meaning it sounds like ROCK AND ROLL, and doesn't apologize for doing so.  Instead of sounding like grunge, or desperately trying to remain "current".

I agree with Avenida Revolucion being a weak track, and Sexy Little Thing sounds like AC/DC with a mix of "Finish What Ya Started" thrown in...so we had the same reaction to those to.

I really like "Turnin' Left" and "My Kinda Girl", and "Soap on a Rope"..a great outro on that one.

Satch really channeled some Jimmy Page-Physical Graffitti style riffage on these songs.

Great rockin' album.  You can dowload it for 4.99 at amazon.com for the next three days.

Being a VH fan, and not such a big fan of the recent direction that Hagar took being the Cabo Wabo guy...

This CD is killer!  Better than anything Hagar did with Halen.  More rockin', less gay keyboards, not so many awful "love" lyrics.

Satriani, Smith, and Anthony rock HARD.  Great CD.  Burn it, buy it, just give it a chance. Best album that didn't come out in 1992 that I've ever heard.

Of course, Satch owns.

GNR "juicys" sounds like a type of fart.

I really like Ron's availability and approachability, and love what he did on Chinese Democracy-the song.

As an aside to piss off half the board, maybe he can be the inevitable reunion's Janick Gers.
