#161 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ ASHBA 'Couldn't Be Happier' About Partial Reunion Of GUNS N' ROSES' » 491 weeks ago
Just confirming what we all knew was coming. With Crue retiring, Nikki was going to start touring Sixx:AM and going full-time with it. DJ was either going to be on board or not. And the reality is, DJ has a really good home in Sixx:AM. Axl was never going to use him in GN'R.
Either way, it worked out for the best. Hopefully GN'R fans will be able to enjoy new Slash-GN'R music, as well as new Sixx:AM music, and get double their pleasure.
I honestly, no shit, could easily see Sixx:AM opening for a GN'R reunion tour. It's not a bad opener. They're popular to younger rock fans. Nikki Sixx appeals to old GN'R/Crue fans, and DJ is former GN'R. Seems to all kind of fit the fabric.
It'd be ironic if it happened.
I could see it being in the cards. Never really had a problem with DJ despite some cheesiness here and there.

I find the notion of paying money to meet somebody insulting. I'm not paying money to meet anybody, go fuck yourself.
Agreed.

Hell no. I would only ever do a VIP meet and greet if I got a guarantee of meeting band members and maybe a signed gift. Even then over 2K is high way robbery.

He technically was Kurt Cobain in Gus Van Sant's movie, "Last Days". I could see him do Axl or Duff in some way.
Damn. I haven't seen that Last Days film, but the fact he already played Cobain kinda fucks up my casting (haha). I just figured based on Boardwalk Empire that he had the right look in his eyes to play Axl. Probably best to find a total unknown with the right acting chops.
Well the movie itself isn't very well know. The only reason I know about it was it showed on a rock bio pics list online and the movie is a huge dramatization and what if scenario of how Cobain supposedly spent his final days before his death after he exited the rehab facility in April '94. Also running into Duff (who was also going into rehab at the time. That detail doesn't show up in the movie.) as well. They gave Kurt a different name in the movie and couldn't use any Nirvana songs in it due to Love being a bitch. Also it was on the IFC channel one time and I watched some of it. The movie kind of sucks. So I mean Pitt could easily transition into someone like Axl or another GNR member without anyone knowing. He ain't a bad actor.

Will, I'm actually a bit embarrassed now about that old Spanish TWAT mix. I do like the title though.
Me Wise Magic - glad to see you still like hearing this stuff. Saw your comment on Soundcloud and truly appreciate it.
Axlin and James, I agree about the Slash version of SW. Though I do think Slash (and Duff) could make it work, it would have to be a very different track. There is a ton of synth and noise in SW that I doubt Slash would find to his liking.
James, the ITW/Slither mashup isn't one of mine. I did like it though. My Slash/Axl mashup stuff includes CD/Watch This, CITR/Gotten, and the aforementioned Spanish TWAT. I'm a huge Buckethead fan, so my work has focused more on getting him more involved. That, and duets. I dig the duets.
You are quite welcome. Keep up the great work. Feel free to check out my profile on that site.

Also the fact that half the movies that are nominated weren't even in the theaters at the time for the movie going public to watch.

Going back to Van Halen again, I feel alot of people forget that first press conference for the 2007-2008 tour. Dave said it loud and clear that this isn't a reunion; but a new band. He was right. Wolfgang brought the Van Halen name back together and got the band to do shit again. Even recommending his dad, Eddie to try to settle their differences and get Dave back in the band. It sucks that Micheal Anthony couldn't come back as well; but it happens. Axl and Eddie have alot of similarities in personality. While the band came out with a stellar come back and from what I've heard very successful tour this past year, I do hope they have some more new music in the cards. As for Guns, this is basically a new version of the band not necessarily a reunion to us forum users. Perhaps Izzy coming back into the fold for some shows and songwriting in the studio could change that factor. I see Duff as the Alex Van Halen in this scenario where he's going with the flow and glad things are patched up when it comes to a new tour. As Alex never had any hard feelings between Sammy or anyone else that has come and gone in the band. He was mostly there to keep Eddie happy and stand by his family. Whether it be the right or wrong reasons. Wolf played a combo of both Izzy and Duff in some respects. I'm happy either way to be honest. As long as music coming out is on Axl's mind. ...And it doesn't take another fucking decade.
The whole "new brother" thing that Dave and Eddie did during the press conference might happen with Axl and Slash. Probably alot more genuine and professional though.
