Please let it be Chester Bennington... smile

Still the only guy who marries Scott's general vibe with an Axl-ish vocal range, as far as I'm concerned.

Er, we haven't heard five of those songs. How can we possibly say it's a better tracklist?

I just wish he'd grow his beard back. It looks ten times better than that 'tache.

As far as your Queen comparison goes, I think that's a pretty good assessment of the situation. Obviously the main difference in Queen's case was that the actual band was still together instead of just Freddie with a tribute band backing him.

IIRC Queen did come close to breaking up in the 80s, around the time of Freddie's solo album - 'cause Brian and the rest of the band were annoyed that he was holding back songs for his solo project rather than recording them as Queen songs, or something. Ironically, it's pretty close to the Chinese Democracy situation, except Queen managed to pull things back together.

I think a self-titled album is a pretty clever move - simply because it'd represent a giant "fuck you" from Axl to all those opposed. "This is Guns N' Roses, deal with it."

I'm hoping someone actually does it backwards. Like Twin Peaks. big_smile

Yeah, with the best will in the world, Axl doesn't hold a candle to Freddie. That guy had it all - stage presence, charisma, songwriting skills and THAT FUCKING VOICE.

#1708 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Why Dave Navarro Didn't Join Guns N' Roses » 763 weeks ago

Might it not have something to do with the fact that both Navarro and Slash are lead guitarists, with all the ego issues that implies? I could imagine that for Navarro, being lead guitarist in Jane's Addiction was preferable to playing second fiddle to Slash in GN'R.

He's had that one for years, hasn't he? I'm sure I remember him sporting it at some VR gigs.

Speaking of which... that red T-shirt which Fortus wears with the long US-flag sleeves under it. He's been wearing that at gigs since 2002. Surely it's getting a bit threadbare by now...

It's really fantastic and obviously inspired by Michael Jackson. I don't think it's any coincidence his best work of the past three or four years has been the MJ inspired stuff.

Makes you weep to think what could've happened if they'd worked together. sad

Two freaks together. Makes perfect sense. He was so inspired by MJ, I'm not surprised a lot of his stuff since then has been somber.

Yeah, if they'd worked together, MJ wouldn't have been the strangest person onstage for once in his life.

I wonder if anyone's thought of doing some Bucket/MJ mashups?
