#1711 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N Roses planning Summer '09 tour? » 878 weeks ago
No Michael Anthony played a role in that decision as well.
James, I'm sure one of the main incentives for doing the tour with Roth was the opportunity to play on stage with his son, Wolfgang. In that case, I take Diamond Dave and the VH family over Michael Anthony any day. Eddie had been in poor health in the previous years and probably saw it as his chance to play with his son while he still could. The prospect of a big payday didn't hurt as well.

He was a formidable opponent to McCain and in some states actually had very high poll numbers, but always tanked in crunch time.
IIRC, wasn't he the Republican candidate who had changing positions on all the major issues?
The guy to watch out for might be Jeb Bush, although if he's smart he'll wait till 2016 where his brother's presidency might be a little better forgotten.

Hmm... I was under the impression that he had already started recording his solo album. Or was that just writing the material for the album?
#1714 Re: The Sunset Strip » The JAMES BOND 007 Thread » 879 weeks ago
Thanks for starting this thread Von. I have a bunch of Bond films Dl and haven't had a chance to watch all of them. I've watched some of the films and I can say right now I have a major disagreement with you on one of your rankings.
Isn't it pretty much a unanimous consensus that Casino Royale blows Quantum of Solace out of the water in terms of story, acting, character development and action sequences? That one should be a no brainer.

Count me in.

I'd settle for new music of any sort from Axl--leaks, demos etc. While I don't love Chinese Democracy, there are some interesting ideas on there that keep me interested in a follow up, especially one that is darker and grittier as had been suggested. There should be more rockers on there anyway.
I've given up expecting a video release or information regarding the recording, planning of CD. I figure most of the stuff written about the clusterfuck process of recording Cd is accurate enough and anything else he says really won't add too much to the discussion.
I'm only a bit interested in more Slash bashing only because I figure he'll give us a better picture of what really happened during 1995 and 1996.

I remember MSL talking about his phone call with Beta and he was saying how he got the impression that they were completely consumed with Slash. He never even mentioned him and she was ranting and raving about Slash. People called him a bullshitter but as times went on its transparant its completely true, they really are obsessed with Slash.
The funniest part of that story was that MSL had to go use the bathroom, so he put the phone down. When he came back, Beta was still ranting and raving and didn't even realize that he had left.
One of the lawsuits was Axl passing up movie deals to include songs.
I think Slash and Duff wanted to use it in Death to Smoochie and other movies but Axl was against it. I only remember this because Death to Smoochie got universally panned and I thought to myself they dodged a bullet on that one.
I find it disheartening that Axl has chosen to bash Slash's guitar playing and work ethic. Slash's work ethic and passion for his music have never been questioned. He goes out and gives the fans a great show. It probably would have been better if Axl aired out his greivences 10 years ago instead of right now. He would have been a lot happier and productive.

Watching that Batman movie from 1989 in the theater is possibly the worst theater experience in my life. A snooze fest straight from the gates of hell.
That's funny. I remember going to see this when it first came out in 1989 and I ended up falling asleep halfway through the movie. I think it was the part where the Batmobile made an appearance. To this day, I still can't sit through this film in its entirety. I don't know whether its Michael Keaton or the slow moving story but whatever it is I get restless. Now Batman Returns, I enjoyed that film although I really need to rewatch it since the last time I saw it was in 1991 when it opened up.
Don't get me wrong, there have been some masterpieces in the horror genre with excellent storytelling, but it seems like the only great filmmaking in the horror genre lately has been overseas, not here in North America
That seems to be the case as we've seen a ton of remakes by Hollywood of Asian horror flicks--The Ring, the Grudge etc. FWIW, I enjoyed The Orphanage (spanish horror film) since it was so darn creepy. I still remember that one scene where the old woman gets hit by a truck and a few seconds later her hand clutches up and she grabs the hand of the main character (sorry if this is confusing). I ended up yelling Holy Shit pretty loudly in the theatre. Lucky for me there were only 4 people there.

I know it's so fuckin' ridiculous. I hate Cena. With all my heart and soul.
He such a punk ass mother fuckin' company boy, as Vince, the puppet master, pulls the strings on that little asshole regularly. People talk about HHH, but he looks like rebel Sting, compared to Cena.
I'm kinda looking forward to his rumored match with Hogan at WM25 for its train-wreck potential. I bet the 50+ year old Hogan with a knee and hip replacement will have to end up carrying the match because the golden boy can't wrestle a decent match to save his life. I wonder if the crowd in Houston will start booing both guys when the match starts to spiral into a clusterfuck.
Regarding HHH, yeah he is an egomaniac who goes over most of the roster. But he genuinely cares about the business and the history that goes with it. He always seems to amp up his performance at WM to make sure people get their money's worth and I respect that even though some of his decisions I have problems with--the feud with Booker T and its implied racism as an example.
I'm pretty sure all of that crew did. Eddie, Chavo and Rey Rey
Rey got outed in September 2007 when the feds(or someone else) raided a pharmacy in NY and discovered a bunch of WWE guys filling prescriptions for steroids. This was right after the Benoit murders so the WWE suspended around 10 wrestlers. One of the stories disclosed that Rey's real name was Oscar Guitteriez.
#1720 Re: The Garden » The Wrestling thread » 881 weeks ago
Nah, I don't think he's leaving yet. More likely he'll wrestle HBK at WM then take a few months off. After that he'll come back and feud with another wrestler. Undertaker only wrestles a half schedule anyway.
When he decides to retire, you can bet that WWE will pimp the hell out of that. He was one of the few guys who resisted jumping when WCW was clobbering WWE in the mid 1990s--along with HBK. I think Vince always respected that loyalty. You can bet that he'll get that Vince will give him the royal treatment when he decides to leave.
