Once again, Miles fucks up the lyrics to Civil War. Look, it's pretty fucking basic, the "bloody hands of the hypnotised" line goes in the SECOND chorus. Why does he keep messing it up?

Honestly, the only way I'd accept a reunion is if I don't feel that it's shitting on the current members of the band. Tommy, Dizzy and Pitman in particular, since they've stood by Axl since, what, the late Nineties? The other guys have arrived later in the day, but Bumblefoot is such a stand-up guy that if he was forced to step aside - in favour of a guy Axl's described as "a cancer" - it'd really sting.
Best-case scenario for a reunion, IMO, would be if Tommy stepped aside for Duff, and Axl subbed in Slash for DJ (who, let's be fair, has only been in GN'R for a year).
Izzy's too unreliable to tour (and I personally think Matt's kind of a tool, so I'd rather keep Frank). Still, he'd be around for guest spots and songwriting.
Bumble doesn't seem to have an ego on him, so Slash would be able to take his precious "lead guitar spot" - and Fortus' onstage acrobatics would pretty much make up for the fact that every time Slash moves he gets zapped by his pacemaker.
But, really, I think the Duff thing was a chance one-off. It's not a portent of anything, and I prefer the notion of Axl touring with his current band, who he's friends with, than Axl and Slash glaring at each other from opposite sides of the stage on some retirement-fund tour.

Went to this on a corporate hospitality ticket <smug>. Free three-course meal + free bar + Guns N' Fucking Roses = MASSIVE WIN. I regard it as just compensation for the wretched experience that was the Dublin gig, where I 1) had the flu, 2) spent north of £100 on the ticket and 3) only stayed until they were bottled off.
Pity they didn't play a longer set, but Axl has to look after his voice. Great to finally hear Rocket Queen live, too.

Axlin08 wrote:Although this was only one show, I will admit that Duff seemed to have tons more chemistry with the band, especially Tommy, than Izzy in 2006. Izzy seemed to stay close to Axl in 2006. The two of them seemed seperate from the rest.
I think he knows Ron quite well and I don't doubt for a second Tommys been on the phone to him.
Izzy will never join. He's doing his own thing, he doesn't like it any more now than before. He did the 2006 thing because he wanted to THEN. He will never join up 100%.
Yeah, even if Axl were to magically reconcile with Slash and suggest a reunion, Izzy's involvement would be tricky. More likely you'd end up with Fortus filling in for him, and if you're going to do that you might as well have Bumble in there too. And, hell, Frank too. Because Matt's a tool.

He'd better be tucked up in bed with a Lemsip, recovering his voice for the Birmingham gig!

Isn't Ron the godfather to Duff's kids, or somesuch? Pretty sure they're close mates, anyway.

Totally agree. This is just good natured fun. I'm glad Axl found it funny too. That might be the funniest thing i've seen Axl do in a while.
Rock on!
It's happened before, in the same city oddly enough. That gig in London, 2002, someone chucked a KFC bucket on stage and he did the same thing.

Not a huge fan of their guitar tone. And their lyrics can be pretty corny at times. But there's something there, I can't quite place it.

Cheers m'dears. It's... interesting. More like the actual AFD I was expecting, given the differences between the original SCOM and the Big Daddy version. I suppose we'd have to hear a solo to pick up on the real differences.
