#17781 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash with 'Fox & Friends'(video available) » 933 weeks ago
I used to be a loyal fan of that show. I boycotted the show when they got rid of E.D. Hill and Julliet Huddy.
#17782 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash talks Axl on 'David Letterman' » 933 weeks ago
I agree that from a musical standpoint, VR is a weak link in his resume. However, the band's very existence is a bright spot on his resume. They are one of the few successful supergroups in existence. He has been in two major bands, with alot of solo work and collaborations in between.
I don't want a reunion either. It will just cheapen what they did and drag the legacy through the mud. However, we don't need a reunion to do that. Axl is perfectly capable of doing that himself. So as the name loses its value and the legacy slowly fades, does the world want one last huge tour by the guys who made it all happen, or do they want a warped nostalgia head trip that fewer and fewer people are caring about?
Those are the only two logical choices left. While new GNR can release an album, they will never build a comparable legacy. The ship sailed on that dream years ago.

Yeah, gold just reached a record high. It beat the old record high set in the mid 80's, which ironically was right after the dollar was at its strongest and has dropped ever since.
I agree that a massive recession and/or terror attack will play a role in creating the new currency/union. It wont save the economy though. It will take years to bring any sort of normalcy to the situation. What's going to back the currency? What will it be pegged against? Will other countries accept it? Creating shit out of thin air isn't going to work with a brand new currency being unveiled by what was once the most powerful country on earth.
This shit is unprecedented.
It pains me to say this and Reagan is probably turning over in his grave at what this country has turned into, but I think we need to switch over to the Euro. Sure, we'll take a massive financial hit, and so will other countries, but we're going to take a financial hit anyways.
The US is basically just a large plane coming in for a crash landing, and the pilot just has to figure out a way of letting us crash with as few casualties as possible.

If I were in Slash's current band, I'd want to reconcile with Axl too.
Why? So he can go from actually creating music, releasing it, and continually adding to his legacy to doing absolutely nothing? From a musical standpoint, the last place on earth a musician would want to be is in Guns N Roses. You stop being a musician the second you join. You just get to tour AFD every few years. Big deal.
I'm not even much of a VR fan. I can put all the songs I like from them on a disc and its pretty much an EP. However, that doesn't disregard everything Slash has done. He has had an amazing career, and his post 87-93 resume is the best of anyone that has ever been in the band or is currently in the band.
Axl would benefit more from a reconciliation than Slash would. Slash's legacy is secure. He is widely respected by the media, fans, and his peers. People look forward to whatever his next move is. He is pretty much the poster boy for that guitar game. He can go solo or play with any artist/band that he chooses to work with.
I know people like to say he is an "attention whore", but I bet my life if Axl's career had turned out as productive as Slash's the last thing they would be calling him is an attention whore.
A reunion is going to happen sooner rather than later. Its inevitable. In the meantime, Slash continues 'moving on' like he continually says and contributes to an amazing legacy/resume. Axl will continue the AFD head trip, and the only way a reunion will happen is if Axl begs for it.
Which he should have to. He has been the least productive member of the old lineup. A ton of money shouldn't be handed to him on a silver platter for nothing but living off what those guys did. Make him beg for it.
#17785 Re: Guns N' Roses » Baz now claims 4 GNR albums exist » 933 weeks ago
I think Baz mentions how many songs Axl has for 2 reasons, A to show everyone that Axl has a catalog of his own and B, hey look at me I have listened to them and they are great sort of thing. I believe on the Eddie Trunk show he was talking about the It's So Easy video that he saw and no one else has but we have
sort of like tooting his own horn where Axl is concerned. Not that, that's a bad thing cuz hell I would be too if I was that close to him.
Yeah, but he risks a backlash by always 'tooting his own horn'. GNR fans don't want some dude bragging they heard a box set of new material. He talks about it constantly.
Sad that the GNR world needs Baz to show everyone Axl has a catalog of his own.

I'll pick Randy Orton.
#17787 Re: The Garden » Funeral picketers loose verdict » 933 weeks ago
Yeah, that church is scum of the earth. They should all be lynched. The funny thing is that people who are that opposed publicly to homosexuals are usually homosexuals themselves.
Any time there is an anti gay rally, you can bet your life the majority involved in the rally are gays still in the closet.
People are strange.
#17788 Re: Management » No all other bands section? » 933 weeks ago
For what it's worth I think it would fit better in the Park & Ride section. Right now it's under GnR/VR.
Just my humble opinion.
Good point, but we wanted all the music categories up in the first section.
#17789 Re: Management » No all other bands section? » 933 weeks ago
Its still here. It was just moved.
#17790 Re: The Garden » Dollar's Demise Can Be Seen Even in the Maldives » 933 weeks ago
I agree that the dollar is dead. Foreign reserves and government bailouts are the only band aids it has. Eventually even that wont prop it up. If they're going to make this switch, they better do it within the next few years, because the US is in big trouble. We are about to enter a deep recession, and a depreciating dollar isn't going to help it.
Am I really the only person that realizes the new currency is going to be almost worthless when it first appears?
All you people out there with a bunch of money saved in dollars better either spend them now, or invest them in something else.
