Welp, new dates for USA announced now. The window for a new album to promote this tour is shrinking - basically before March, right?
No
The SA dates appear to be irrelevant. I think they will sell because they are rearranged based on the previous tour because they were part of that, but they are not anymore, if that makes any sense. They will use the dates as a basis going forward. I would not be surprised to see an extra couple of SA dates at the end of the tour after the Australia+ dates are announced. This is not based on any fact, just experience for those that know me.
As I posted before, there has to be new material or a very big new perspective. Tickets are selling as I expected, but LN are not daft and they are also not talking. So, the SA dates and the time around this period will dictate the tour beyond it. The US stadium dates represent a big expectation and statement in a saturated market.

Just heard the radio ad for Boston. “The Next Chapter” and “All New Show” while Jungle, SCOM, PC played in the background...
I think, based on the dates, I would point any expectation towards the European dates.
It is the European and NA dates that have been strongly promoted as next chapter, and there is a month gap between the SA dates and the European dates. Also, if you read back on some South American websites, some of the Spring dates may be re-arranged dates from last year. (As an example, Guatamala might have been November https://www.soy502.com/articulo/suspens … atemal-153 ) I know they were pointing at March, and something may happen in March. I just think the month gap implies that there will be other activity still ongoing after the SA dates.

The 5 million fans who went to the last concerts will not repeat. There will be some repeats, but it is all about the new chapter, and if GN'R do not deliver something different, it will be goodnight LA longer term. The repeat is too quick for a legacy tour, so it is make or break this time around.
The band have interviewed the new album thing for over a year, so it has to appear, or there has to be a new angle big enough to fill stadiums.
The period between now and the SA dates is crucial. The SA dates have not been overly lumped into next chapter, but there has to be a new song out during that stretch at some point, or some news.

Yeah, when they announced the show, I had never heard of it, to be honest. I thought as it was associated with the Superbowl, it was this big thing, but to be fair, there has not been much mention of it I and you could easily just continue to know it doesn't exist.
I think it is fair to assume that this was just a one off concert, and the band made no effort to lump it in with the rest of the tour later in the year.
If Slash said there is material, but they are thinking about how to release it, then we are two/three months away from new material at a minimum. I am leaning more towards the Euro dates at the moment as a positive moment in time just because the band have put more effort in distinguishing those dates from other dates.
I still see progess though. Last year it was we will be recording, now there is material, so the machine is moving forward. We are coming into a key period now leading up to the SA dates.
Obviously NA dates are due probably soon as well.

GNR in the UK the day before Glastonbury. Still certain there’s no chance they’re playing it Sp1at?
I don't know.
I think bands are only allowed to play acoustic sets on the 24th, so it would have to be 26th June, and that would be hard logistically because they will have to ship all the equipment over to Ireland on 26th.

Ironic that for years the rc were a blocker - now they have what they wanted (reunion) but maybe struggling to know how to capitalise on it
Slash is right though, it is different now. People use social media to promote music, not really a GN'R thing.
As you said, CD was affected by the record company, and the Best Buy deal was all about making the money back they put into the recording costs.
UYI had Terminator 2
How does GN'R release a new record and stand out, especially in a year when a lot of bands are releasing albums. The forum fans will just want the band to release an album, but it does have to capture the attention of casual fans.

I don't see Slash's response as negative, it's just a bit garbled, but it was an article on guitars.
He states there is material, and there is no official release date yet. I think they are at a point where they are just figuring out when to release new material and how to do it, which every band does. And that is where I would expect them to be at right now if they were finishing up recording after the last tour.

Slash with Guitar.com
Speaking of Guns, have you got anything more you can share about the new album?
“There’s been no definitive answer on anything and I’ll just keep keep to that. Stuff is happening, but there are no specifics. More than anything, it’s because of the nature of the industry right now. It’s just like, how do you want to do this? I mean there’s material and there’s recording and there’s shit going on, but we’re not really sure what we’re doing with it right now.”
The music industry in 2020 is a lot different to the last time you all made a Guns record.
“Yeah! And there’s a handful people who said, ’Yeah, make a record and go old school’. And there’s a handful of people that are like, ’We don’t even know what buying a record is any more!’” I mean there’s material and there’s recording and there’s shit going on, but we’re not really sure what we’re doing with it right now.”
