The song seems to have a bizarre history. It was included in the L&L box as an instrumental, so it was definitely around in the AFD days. I remember reading it was going to be included on UYI but was dropped for some reason, this must be where the demo with vocals we have is from? Then it was included on the 1994 pinball with only the chorus. Apparently Gilby said he worked on this song, so maybe the instrumental itself was reworked in 1994 for the pinball? Gilby obviously wasn't involved in any UYI sessions. Does anyone have a clearer timeline?

This image has been making the rounds on other forums, leading some to speculate there will be no new single this year, since this is specifically marketed towards the Japanese tour.

Axl hired Bob Ezrin to consult, not the label. He had no authority to reject anything.

There is no concrete proof the label ever rejected any version of CD.

It all looks so insanely juvenile in hindsight and shows the complete lack of maturity and professionalism in both sides.
A huge sore spot and where it will get uncomfortable is if/when a journalist will broach the subject of the potential near reunions of 2000-01(the brief attempt to bring Izzy back before Rio, Slash showing up at HOB but being turned away at the door) and the shit going down behind the scenes in 2005 that should've led to the reunion...and according to Halfin and Weiland, it was ready to go.
It was all such a huge waste of time and there's nothing concrete to justify the 20 years flushed down the toilet.

Having said all this, they know that the casual audiences of the 2020s don't really care about any of it...so it's easy to avoid. Only hardcores, journalists, and maybe historians are interested in what went down.
About 2005: As most forum users probably know in 2011 MSL leaked a list of Axl's emails. He only gave general descriptions of the emails rather than the contents themselves, probably trying to get a website to pay money for them, which either didn't happen or TB threatened legal action. But anyway, one of the emails was from Slash in December 2005, which was described as "Slash email threatening photographer". I wonder if after Slash showed up at his house in October 2005, Axl hired a PI to follow Slash around and see if he was still using drugs, as the addictions of the other members compared to a sober Axl were a big reason they all drifted apart. Remember, Slash described himself as being drunk at the time of the visit, but Axl's lawsuit said he didn't appear to be under the influence, information Axl would have gotten from Beta because he himself didn't speak to Slash.
Or maybe it's an insane idea and Slash was just angry at someone who took photos for the band like Robert John. But I think the timing seems pretty interesting in that the email was in between Slash's visit and Axl's countersuit.

I'd say lack of incentive. Axl's only interviews since the reunion were the China exchange, him and Duff to Brazilian TV, and two newspaper interviews in 2018 in Iceland and the UAE. All very random so clearly not part of any genuine promotional strategy, Axl seems to simply agree to these things on the fly rather than plan them out.

There's speculation that Axl likes to release stuff that has already leaked, so many are assuming the next single will be something that we've heard already, like Atlas, Perhaps, Ain't Goin Down, or even a reworked OMG. What's your guess?

Tracks like Beggars and Be The Ball have top tier riffs. The thing is Axl was simply uninspired to work on this kind of material at the time. He did seem willing to use a few songs, but I assume they would have gone through an "industrial mix" in the production process.

It does kinda make me wonder what the label might be waiting for though. Surely the label would be itching to get the song released as soon as it’s handed over, particularly as the band is touring right now
I would assume that the label would want a single to coincide with the UYI box, like SOYL in 2018, but Sp1at says it's CD era material, which obviously wouldn't be on said box set...it's very confusing.

It's recorded, just waiting on the record company to release it. They never respond these days to queries, and have no idea what songs have been done, just that it's re recorded CD era material, which is known anyway
Does this mean the UYI box set won't have a single accompanying it, like Shadow in 2018?
